Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 559 - 558 - Lifemancer

Chapter 559 - 558 - Lifemancer

"Idiots, fools, damned bastards, and I am running out of terms to call you!"  Lind was raging at a little over 500 men and women of the area he had been brought to.  They were lounging or meditating as elixirs coursed through their bodies.

It had taken him the better part of 3 days, but Lind had prepared the Meridian Restoration Elixir to actually repair what he could.  Normally, it would be enough to repair the damage all of them had, but he had never tried to repair damage done by removing a woven brand.

In those same days, some bloodied and exhausted people stumbled into their area.  Their injuries were fresh and he got a better look at the sigils used.

It made him sick.

The brand was essentially 3 fold.  It restricted their ability to cultivate unless authorized by a weaver to do so.  It tracked their whereabouts, even in its damaged state to an extent.  It also compelled them to obey any command given.

That last construct was the most complicated but essentially it used the soul of the receiver and the soul of the weaver to act like a cultivator refining a tool!

Whoever came up with such a weaving should never have been allowed to live!

Of course, the vile weaving was but one thing on a growing list making him angry.

The over 500 morons now recovering in front of him topped his current list.  He had been shouting and berating them for most of the last week as he administered the elixirs.

"Great Lifemancer–"  Lind whipped his head at a man supplicating him but the man froze at the cold stare.

"The next person to call me that, I will personally take straight up and fall for a bit!  I am called Lind Frey.  I am fine with Master Frey!  That is it!"  Soulmancers were reviled but it seemed Lifemancers were worshiped.

He had no idea why they had different names for professions even Delenn and Younger Twin called the same as other places he had been.  If not going to another mortal realm, Lind might think different areas had different names but the barren realm called him the same titles as his home.

It was yet another thing to tag onto the list of questions he had once things settled.

"Benny!"  The young girl came running and laughing towards him.  The young children had taken a strong liking to Lind but he needed their help.

Compared to any adult, they responded the best to his elixirs.  Their dantians and meridians were in the best shape with small fractures still lingering.

They could actually heal on their own compared to the adults.

"Lord Frey."  The powerful woman in charge of the Two Rivers made a vein throb on his head as he slowly turned to find her kneeling…again.  He was about to consider flying her into the top barrier but just deflated.

What was the point?

"I am no lord but what do you need?"  His resignation was not even acknowledged when she lifted her head up.

"I waited until you finished your work, but when will the others be coming?"  Others?  What others?  Why did everyone assume he knew what was going on?!

He massaged the side of his head before turning to the waiting Benny.  The little girl brightened.

"You are a Lifemancer!  It means they are returning, right?  You made it so ascenders can arrive again!"  Lind frowned deeply.  What did they mean by such a thought?

"Explain, quickly."  Lind spoke but all looked confused, even Benny.  He was half tempted to pull out Protean and start beating people.

"Master Frey, the legend spoke of 3 powerful followers of the Immortal that defeated the Fiends."  Gail appeared, looking much healthier than before but still in desperate need of food. She was actually helping cook the meat Lind had left in his ring.

It was mostly from Sky Realm beasts but it would be enough for most of the people there.

He waved for her to go on.

"The legends say the Immortal needed special weapons and powerful elixirs to win the war.  The Blessed Creator, the Lifemancers, and the Soulmancers all followed the Immortal.  It was said the Lifemancers saved many lives at the sacrifice of their own while the Soulmancers saved our lands.  The Blessed Creators used up all their Heavenly materials and blew life into them to fight alongside the Immortal."  The information was a lot but Lind slowly began to grasp it.

"What happened to the other 2 professions?"  Many actually looked sad at him.

"The Lifemancers gave their all to save as many as they could and died tragically a few hundred years after the war ended."  Gail then made a strange sign but he recognized it!  It was the initial steps to make an elixir using the hand to guide the spirit Qi!

"The Blessed Creators were executed for trying to revolt around the same time."  Lind's head snapped up at that.  Executed?  By whom?

Before Gail could continue, Sheena spoke up at last.

"It was the day the Soulmancers took over completely!"  An angry murmur ran through the crowd but Lind's eyes narrowed.

Once more, the details were too neat.  Even putting the Soulmancers as villains seemed far too convenient.  Sect, kingdoms, and guilds had complicated relationships and often fought over resources and new members.

A single profession should not be able to take over so neatly without massive bloodshed on all sides.

Even if they won, it would face a level of resistance far above what he saw before him.

Weaving was capable of a lot but it could not fight directly like other abilities or even a Forger's ability to create armor and weapons of crazy abilities.

So how had weavers taken over 1 let alone 6 empires?

The brands were in place in the present but surely they were not…

"Were–were you always branded even when the Immortal was alive?"  Most heads nodded as Lind felt a chill in his soul.

Just what was going on in this place?

"What did you mean about more coming?"  No one answered right away but then Benny looked up at him in hope which made him flinch.

"There is a legend that when a Lifemancer returns, then the time of the Soulmancers is coming to an end!  The ascenders have not come since the Immortal died."  Lind now began to wonder just what was around those lands.

If the Law restriction was not natural but man made, then there was a giant shell around the 6 empires.  It was put there by someone but such a massive formation would have broken down without constant maintenance.

He looked at the damaged sigils once more and realized there was more to it he could not yet grasp.  He could not examine them the way he wished but he knew how they would react to learn he was a weaver.

"Do any of you know of the floating crystals above the crystal desert?  It should be on the other side of the Hinterland near the Karridan Empire maybe?"  He was trying to recall if there had been anything else unusual when he arrived but he saw a sea of confused faces.

Many thought for a long time but even Old Wan could only shrug.  It was the only landmark he knew so he would have to try and trace back his crazy flight path when he first arrived.

"Nevermind, why exactly Lifemancers in a prophecy and not the Blessed Creators?"  Benny looked at him once more as if he was an idiot but quickly suppressed it.

"Because they are the only ones that can negate the Soulmancer skills.  They can stop them from taking souls!"  Lind felt shocked as he had never heard of such a thing.  He was not even sure how anyone would have stumbled on that particular fact.

He was about to ask more questions when the screech of a beast filled the air.  All the bandits looked panicked suddenly but Lind only smirked.

He did not know what the beast was but he heard its words.

"Who dares invade my domain?!"  Lind saw a large spec growing larger but he only smiled before he took a big breath and a roar of a mighty dragon echoed across the land.

All beasts nearby stopped what they were doing and knelt down but the beast in the air suddenly stopped cold.  Lind waited for a response but then was stunned when a powerful screech answered him.

He knew that screech!

It was a roc coming at him!  Dragons and rocs did not get along normally.  He had just challenged a natural enemy by announcing his presence.

Many started to panic but he then summoned a fine platinum feather with a black tip.  Kora had left it with him and the moment he revealed it to the world the roc stumbled and fell out of the sky!

It crashed not far away but Lind flew over slowly as he saw it was fine, but then the giant silver roc snapped its head up in fear.

"Great Master of our ancestors, please forgive my insolence!"  Lind now stumbled but stayed in the air.

What in blazes was he now?  How many more titles can this place give him?!  Lind felt a new headache building but then just landed and waited for the roc to explain itself.  It was at the Moon Tier as well but the same level as him.

He was about to ask a question when nothing was volunteered and the giant roc glowed silver before a gorgeous woman appeared.  If that was all, Lind would not have been struck dumb yet the woman before him was a more well endowed Kora just in silver!

Lind suddenly wanted a drink and for his wives to find him.  He was not sure how many more surprises he could take.
