Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 542 - 541 - Competition Ends

Chapter 542 - 541 - Competition Ends

"At last, we have our top 10 finalists!"  Mythra was taking in the cheers and adulation of the crowd as the top ten Heaven Grade finalists stood behind her.  If any doubt was left about the dominance of Moebius Sect, it was removed at that moment.

Nine of the ten slots were from them!  Also, they were all derivative professions!  Unlike the other 2 levels where the proctors alone declared points, Lind had various Masters invited down to examine each and every entrant.

It had been a bit chaotic but worth it asl all nodded at what they thought was best.  Elixir masters dominated in the top 5 but Forgers were right there for the next 3 slots and a weaver took 9th place.

All from Moebius Sect!

The 10th place was actually an itinerant cultivator of no current power.  She was also a Forger that barely beat out the rest of the top 100.

It was not as bloody or exciting an end as the previous rounds but then the announcement that Starfire Hall would be holding an auction afterward got quite a few riled up!

Further, the benefits of the competition made a lot of powers very happy!  Babylon Guild was also busy not just with poaching requests, but alliances!

The thin peace was being solidified far more profoundly than the 3 Moon Tiers could have predicted!  Their master was pleased and they also had messages from above about envoys coming to meet Lind Frey!

The man, himself, was smiling as the festive atmosphere took hold in full.  The arena would host the auction over the next few days as submissions were welcome.  It was impromptu but Lady Estelle had told him it would help so he let her dictate that part of it.

His dark green eyes sparkled as he saw various guilds, sects, and kingdoms laughing and drinking together.

Fights still broke out but due to the modest nature of the contest, they never became deadly.  In fact, most of them were found drinking to improve their health later together!

The Warders were doing very well but he planned to reward them for all their hard work.  He also had seen reports of more applicants showing up after the competition ended.

He was about to head to his office nearby when a presence entered his head.

[I need to speak with you at Yinande.]

Lind looked around and found a narrow alley.  As Saisei was so new as a city, there were no dark alleys at that time but he had no doubt that would change.  Still, the celebrations kept most to the main streets.

Lind confirmed no one was around before he gave his consent.

The world changed around him before the soothing cool air of the cave settled in his senses.  Lind expected to look up and find the giant head of the Divine Guardian, but instead an old woman in dark leather armor sat weakly on a rock.

A massive cave was behind her that extended forever to his eyes but he knew it was most of Yinande.  He was concerned about collapse but the feeling of Star Tier Qi was still present.

He was about to speak again when his eyes narrowed.  He saw a massive indentation on her side that meant a piece of flesh was missing.  If she were truly human, even a Sky Realm cultivator would be dead.

"Senior, may I help you?"  Her crag filled face smiled but she shook her head.

"If I truly thought you had the skill, I would have asked long ago, but that is not why you are here."  Lind saw the dark eyes and felt a foreboding looking at them.

"You are dying."  A short laugh came from her but then she coughed up blood shortly afterward.

"I have been dying for over a million years or more.  My deep sleep just put it off for a while.  No, you are here because I want to entrust something to you.  I have been afraid for a long time but after watching all you have done, I have decided."  She then touched a ring on her left hand and a dark black egg appeared.

It had tiny streaks of white in it but Lind felt pressure just looking at it.  The egg was already in the World Realm!

He carefully examined it and frowned looking at it.  Something was wrong.

"So, you noticed.  Good.  My child has been in an egg too long.  She should have been born long ago but the world out there would kill her for what she is.  Those that might protect her would use her up too.  You know I am right."  Lind bowed.

He knew that rare aether beasts hid on Wild Heart Isle and Voracious Jungle Island because of such issues.  They still had to fight to live but at least on those 2 islands it was about territory, not greed.

"I can't hold this form for long but I think you can help my daughter grow up nicely.  Also, she is a weaver."  Lind blinked but then saw profound sigils float around her!  His mind, newly opened to ideas, entered enlightenment instantly.

The Divine Guardian smiled warmly as she saw Lind look out at the Dao.  She had known he was kind, but kindness was not enough.  The reason she had protected and nurtured the village of weavers was in the hope one could break through and teach her daughter what she needed.

The Black Shelled Tortoise Bloodline was tied to soul power and its various abilities.  It was what made them terrifying enemies and the ultimate shields.  Physical defenses were not enough in higher realm battles, but the soul blended with physical defense was near impossible to break.

Lind quickly woke up and felt enthralled with what he had perceived.  Of course!  It was not just about using the omnidirectional nature of engraving but shaping it to produce results as well.

It was the difference between filling space and putting up purposeful constructs.  He could connect sigils until he ran out of space around himself, but if he made hoops or other shapes, he could pull out entirely different effects!

Before he lost the feeling, a silver ring slowly appeared around him which shocked the Divine Guardian.

She looked on as the ring thickened but also began to be shaped with various objects to make it up.  Before, the first circle was about the mastering of sigils and traces until a weaver could grasp the unity between them.

The 2nd circle was about the qualitative leap to grades 4 and 5 in the same vein.  The fact Lind got to Heaven grade 3 and taught others 2 had to be tied to being a 6 elemental.

He had a far deeper understanding of the elements than other cultivators.

She watched in awe as the fine sigils and traces made interconnecting patterns to become an actual 3 dimensional ring.

It became more and more solid until emerald light began to glow around Lind.  She felt her own dantian throb in joy right then.  The ache in her body even seemed to fade a little but the stunning thing was her daughter's egg.

The issues of keeping her an egg were being fixed!  How?!

She then closed her eyes and felt it.  His transformation into a dragon was much farther along than before.  His pure progenitor bloodline was purifying her daughter!

Tears formed as she felt grateful to a dragon for the first time in her long life!

She opened her eyes to see something stunning.  The ring was no longer just a ring, it was several rings swirling around but still connected as one!

"Perfected 3rd Circle.  By the spirits, you are a monster Lind Frey."  She smiled wide as the massive weaving began to shrink slowly.  She saw the strain on Lind and knew the moment of truth had come.

If he failed, there would be Qi deviation but it would be fixable.  If he succeeded, he would definitely reach tier 9 in one go!

The complex construct finally vanished into him as pressure built until a wave of all 6 elements and emerald flame flew outwards from him.

Lind looked weak but he was smiling.

"Congratulations on reaching Tier 9, Lind Frey."  He bowed to her but had to sit down as he had completely tapped out his dantian.  The effort of weaving like that was massive compared to before.  Solea must have an impressive soul power to pull off even her crude results.

Once he recovered he noticed the changes in the egg and that it was also cracking open!

"I can't hold her back any longer.  I also can't hold this form much longer.  Will you raise her?"  Lind looked at her sharply at those words.

"I will be going to sleep for the last time.  I won't wake up again.  I will even miss–"  Lind quickly picked up the egg as the baby inside started to smash its way out but the old woman vanished as the massive tortoise returned to fill the cavity.

Her large eyes were so tired but emerald light flared in the cave.  Lind had barely recovered but he knew enough to know the effects of his harmony.

Divine Guardian felt some alertness return and at that moment a tiny head shattered through the egg.

It was gooey and blind but it shook around crying out.  Both Lind and she understood its bestial call.

"Momma!  Momma!  Momma!"  Tears formed as Lind held up the mostly shattered egg as the 2 touched for the first and last time.

The baby calmed instantly as it rubbed its head against its mother as Divine Guardian hummed a song as old as her race memory.

"Thank you for that gift, Lind Frey.  I have to sleep now."  Lind was looking on with glistening eyes as the tiny turtle filled his arms but now was investigating him but he did not leave.

He let Kexin know he would be busy for a time unexpectedly but it could not be helped.  The little tortoise was too weak to take out and it would be a few weeks before it was safe to do so.

In that time he would not move one step from the cave.  He made sure the baby got some food before setting her next to her now sleeping mother.  He hoped they dreamed of each other as he sat to recover himself.

The competition was over and he now was a weaver of the 3rd circle.  He had to consolidate his gains and begin to understand what he could do.  He would then relay that to the Weaving Hall and Moebius Sect would become terrifying once again.
