Chapter 451 - 450 - Romana
Chapter 451 - 450 - Romana
"Watcher 117, your last reports have been interesting but there were no follow ups. Have things become that unsettled on your patrol route?" Romana was in front of the Warder Elders, all tier 8 or 9 Sky Realms that came from all 3 races of cultivators.
The aether children usually only became stuck due to Qi deviation or other issues but it still happened, while demons and humans simply ran out of time or potential.
Romana was not young anymore but she had a few good centuries left in her. Still, she had to be careful with her next words due to her oath. Thankfully, an event helped her out.
"I am afraid they are. The now Moon Tier aether beast of the frost lions, Lady Frostfang, left her territory and the same area is currently in turmoil. We do not have a full idea but a few Sky Realms fled through the teleportation arrays as well as to other territories." Some nodded as they had seen the same.
It always happened when a Star Tier left to ascend on their own. Ascension as happened with the Fire Hawk was quite rare in Wild Heart Isle. Even if the beasts came to the threshold, they might be too injured to continue.
"I can confirm. The frost lion pride is scattered and causing more disruptive actions across much of the area just beyond our purview. It could take decades for everything to settle back to a normal level." An ancient demon spoke up. His lavender skin looked as rough as parchment but his obsidian eyes were vibrant with power.
His hair was a very pale green but mostly white at that point. He was a peak tier 9 from the Hellfire Sect over 3 centuries ago. The story went that he was challenged and lost his position to someone younger.
Rather than kill him, he was sent to the Warders to fulfill their obligation. It was not a post they desired at all. The elder was very efficient, however, and highly respected.
He rather enjoyed going to Wild Heart Isle at times to challenge himself too.
"Elder Korath, I appreciate your diligence but that is not my issue with Watcher 117. My issue is the lack of detail of the areas next to the former frost lion pride before Lady Frostfang left." A human spoke up but unlike many he looked quite young.
His hair was short cropped and black with narrow dark eyes as well. His skin was pale, as if he hardly went out under the sun but he was a tier 8 Sky Realm. Romana did not understand why such a young tier 8 ended up at the Warders but it was a rule that few pride on how someone came to the Warders.
Most talked about it or could guess based on cultivation conditions, but Elder Triton was a mystery. He had been sent to the Warders nearly 2 centuries ago from a little known sect. It was located on Severis Island.
It was a primarily human place but had few resources nor any interest for most. It had some excellent production facilities but not the best. To use the word average to describe it would be an understatement.
"Your exact words only covered the ascension of a Fire Hawk we assume to be Lord Han as he has been seen in the Heaven Realm. There was another avian Star Tier but other Watchers seem to confirm she was killed." Romana had seen it herself and reported that as well but only after others reported it.
She was walking a thin thread between 2 oaths.
"I beg pardon, Elder Triton, but I did report the fall of Lady Lira of the Light Ravens. They have since migrated to the northwest areas." Romana spoke the truth but Triton did not seem interested in that at all.
"What about the rest? Did that Star Tier spiderwoman take over or was there another Star Tier or peak tier 9 Sky Realm that caused all that ruckus?" His questions were interesting but all the Warders were mystified at his interest.
The constantly shifting borders were nothing new and the death of Star Tiers, while shocking to other islands, was also normal for Wild Heart Isle. The inner areas were danger zones and generally forbidden unless the current leader of an area allowed it.
Warders were allowed some leeway as part of their agreements but not much.
Romana was honestly confused as her revelations were inline with expectations but Elder Triton seemed fixated for some reason.
"If Elder could ask a question to define his interest, I may have an idea what I am lacking?" She had the right to be a bit annoyed but Triton did not rise to the bait. The man had no arrogance and shifted a scroll before nodding and handing it over to the rest of the raised dias the elders used to look down on her.
The scroll was swiftly examined but only confused looks went back to Triton.
"Do you have proof of such a ridiculous notion?" Korath seemed to find Triton's suggestion insane to say the least. The Wild Heart Isle was not as harsh as Voracious Jungle Island, but the denial of any human settlement was clear.
"I do, or rather, Watcher 117 did." Romana felt a cold sweat break out on her back but her face remained calm. She waited for an answer despite her suspicions. Korath looked down at her and sighed.
"Watcher 117, have you seen or heard rumors of the wives of Lind Frey entering Wild Heart Isle and not returning?" Romana somehow kept her face clear but it did not break the oaths to reveal her guesses.
"I thought I had but was never able to confirm it due to lack of corresponding records in the transit tunnel and relay points." It was true, whatever identity the women used was not their own. It was also true that a few others known to her were the same.
She had only one that was troublesome.
"What of the dragon?" Romana had seen the record for Ethry herself. It was not unusual for a beast to go to an island ruled by beasts but even the most dull researcher would know she was very devoted to Lind. She would not stay away from him for long if she could help it.
"I did indeed see that record from over 23 years ago but unlike the others I could only confirm she had gone into the central areas I could not follow. Being a dragon, I hardly feared for her safety." It was true.
Ethry was not more than 5th or 6th tier by then but a Divine Dragon had literally nothing to fear from other aether beasts. Only Star Tiers would dare harm her but the Heavens were watching so they could only attack openly.
It was suicide to do so as her bloodline could suppress them all!
"So, Lind Frey is on the island?" Romana now felt her heart skip a beat but honest confusion was on her face. How did Triton reach such a conclusion?
"To the best of my knowledge he was last seen on Yinande and while that information is old there is no record of him leaving at all." It was the one true mystery she could not figure out. There was actually no record between Yinande and Wild Heart Isle at all!
She had exhausted the funds allocated to her to research and yet could only confirm his arrival, not departure. There were several groups of women that might have been his wives but she could not find a contradiction to confirm it due to that lack of return trip.
"It is obvious. His wives are here, thus he must be as well." Triton seemed pleased with himself but Korath and others looked at him as if he had grown another head.
"My findings contradict that, Triton. The Fierce Fairy and Lind Frey were revealed to be on Yinande and revealed a terrifying organization connected to the Fiends." An aether child of fire and earth spoke up. Her youthful looks were deceiving as she was on par with Korath.
It was also clear she suffered from Qi deviation as veins were clear on her skin where her meridians had nearly ruptured.
Likely she had tried to force a breakthrough to Star Tier and failed as she was at tier 9 of the Sky Realm.
"Elder Thorn, your report is outdated. It has been almost 2 years since then and no one can find them on that useless island." Triton was correct. Once he was revealed, many had gone searching for Lind Frey but he was nowhere to be found.
Whole villages and cities were empty after the conflict so there were no leads either. Still, Romana smirked.
"You are incorrect, Elder Triton. There was a report he was at the East End City. A city few can reliably report about in the same period. It is as if something blocks all from going there. I used one of our artifacts and confirmed there is a Star Tier aether beast near the peak at the same location." Shock flooded the room.
A Star Tier was not a small thing at all but an aether beast previously unknown showed a stunning level of power. Triton frowned as it seemed he did not know about it. He was about to speak when a voice suddenly covered the room.
"It is not polite to go poking where you are not welcome, little Maiden." The pressure was felt by all and there was no doubt. It was a Star Tier!
"How do we know you are really from Yinande? This could all be a sham to hide Lind Frey from us!" Triton was the first to speak and he was disrespectful to boot!
"I am in no mood to indulge a useless fool!" Triton was then slammed into the ground like strings cut from a puppet. Further, a small tortoise appeared on his back!
The aether children knelt immediately as Romana bowed solemnly. The humans and demons were left confused.
"I will make this short. Yinande is mine. Anyone that causes a ruckus will be killed. I am an old lady and have no time for shenanigans. That one, woke me up looking for this silly boy you all seem hung up on." Korath felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise.
A Star Tier that hibernated was rare and extremely powerful!
"We beg pardon, senior. Can you, at least, confirm if Lind Frey is with you?" The tortoise looked up at Korath and a sudden feeling of a massive being looking down at him filled his vision.
"What I do with nosy humans is my business, but that one asks good questions! He has learned much from me and those I protect. He has much to digest on that!" The tortoise vanished but Triton looked enraged.
His standing was currently in tatters but Korath looked thoughtful. He coughed before turning to Romana.
"You are diligent, Watcher 117, but in future try not to anger Star Tiers that much." Romana solemnly nodded before being dismissed. She heard Triton trying to deny the words of their visitor but she doubted that would do much.
[We only bought a little time and I have to sleep again after that. The boy should be warned. There is something wrong with that human.]
Romana froze as she had no idea what would make a Star Tier worry so but maybe it was what caused Triton to be sent in the first place to the Warders. Could he have a defective physique?
Romana had a new problem though. How would she reach out to somewhere she swore to not acknowledge? Lady Frostfang was gone and any attempt to go herself would be met with breaking the Oath!
She reached her quarters but froze as she found a cloaked person standing there! She had felt no fluctuation in the protections when she entered so how could there be an intruder?!
"You are Senior Romana?" A gentle voice reached her ears as the hood fell back to reveal sapphire and gold hair that sparkled in the torch light. There were no windows in Romana's room thankfully.
"I-I am. May I ask why the Mistress of Illusions has paid me a visit?" Romana felt her heart race but then the next words nearly made her believe Fate had found her.
"Would you be interested in coming to the Moebius Sect? Sect Master Lind Frey would like to speak with you if you have time." Romana wondered if the tortoise had arranged things but felt the shackle of her Oath to Frostfang fall away as she nodded. She very badly wanted to meet Lind Frey!
