Chapter 445 - 444 - Lady Frostfang
Chapter 445 - 444 - Lady Frostfang
Lind was sorting through several jade slips when he felt the presence of a Star Tier. The fact Lady Gua did not send him a warning nor did anything for that matter, told him she expected them.
Things were finally settling down but now another Star Tier came to call?
"I welcome you to my office, senior. Please come in." Lind had not been sure what to expect but a gateway lined in frost was not even on the list! He was fascinated by it but it closed as a gorgeous woman in golden robes emerged.
Her eyes were ice but her skin glowed vibrantly. He noticed she had what appeared to be fur gloves but were likely actual paws. Still, they would be very deadly and unwise to underestimate.
It also confirmed her identity from the research given to him.
"Lady Frostfang, it is a great honor to finally meet you." She did not speak but slowly walked around his office. He had meant his words as she was the Star Tier that led his wives to Lady Gua.
"Your battle excited me." Her first words made a cold sweat break out on his back. Surely not another one like Lady Gua?! A sharp glare made him stumble a bit but then a teasing smile appeared.
"Your stories are known to me so your reaction is forgiven. Not all of us are mate crazy, but it is hard to fight the desires of our hearts." Lind bowed and made a sharp mental note about the fact she said not all were like Lady Gua. It meant there were more of them!
"I apologize if the war disturbed you." If his actions had irritated the neighboring Star Tier or peak tier 9 aether beasts, he would act to reconcile if he could. A sharp laugh seemed to contradict his expectation.
"Bother?! I have never felt so alive in the last 2000 years! My blood boiled and I was mesmerized by your final attack." Her gaze was once more sharp but Lind stood firm. It was rather easy as he did not know what his ring did nor how it was possible.
Ethry did not know the ring nor did her race memory have anything like that event occur to her knowledge.
If a Divine Dragon bloodline did not know, then who did?
A flash of the other soul dragon he met in the Divine Inheritance seemed likely but that soul was long gone.
"That was over 3 months ago. Was there an issue preventing your visit?" Lind was not asking as a junior, but as the ruler of his territory. A warm smile spread on her face that made even his heart skip a beat.
His wives were the only ones for him but this woman was disarming in a way he found hard to resist. Why?
"You may not know this, but the territories you hold are valued by many. The only reason you have peace is due to the fact they do not want to cooperate, even less after your display." Lind swallowed hard. Despite the demonstration he was not as well off as others might think.
He had gotten stronger but the artifact he created was completely ruined by a single use and the materials were not easy to find! The temporary increase in his strength was told to him to be beyond Star Tier so it was beyond the current realm he lived in.
On top of that, while the core members had recovered, there were many casualties that were nearly crippled. Lind's elixirs were restoring some but that still took time. His miraculous elixirs required materials in quantities the Floating Isles just did not have!
Part of what he was doing was trying to figure out a way to get some materials from the other beast territories but there was no such thing as trade between them. They consumed each other to advance!
What few resources they needed were actually taken from the nearby cultivator islands!
When Lady Frostfang spoke of beasts coveting his lands, she meant the Qi sources and the beasts themselves. It was a buffet line as far as aether beasts were concerned.
The variety of beasts his lands alone nurtured would be highly appealing. It was also true of Lady Frostfang but Lind felt she was here on different business.
"Then who did trouble you, senior?" Lind saw her eyes sparkle with pleasure at his guess. Still, he found her pleasant company compared to several other high level beasts. He just did not know why.
His dragon instincts did not react to any danger and seemed welcoming.
"There were many witnesses to the war and not all were beasts. One was a Warder." Lind felt his heart freeze. That was bad, very bad.
A normal cultivator would be troublesome but could be peacefully dealt with if not harshly dealt with depending on circumstances but a Warder was a wall he could not breach if he tried.
The Warders were one of several organizations that dealt with beastial powers. The main difference, however, was that Wild Heart Isle was one of the few untouched islands ruled by the true natural order.
The Warders were both guard and regulator for both sides. They took Oaths to actually stay neutral! If a Warder saw them, they would be compelled to report the Moebius Sect before it was ready!
"I had her swear an oath and turn over all materials regarding her observations. She seems to have noticed your mates over the years." Lind caught a bundle of scrolls and jade slips!
He quickly scanned several and nearly bolted out of his chair.
Romana! It was a former Maiden he had wanted to meet! He did not know much about other sects, but his long standing with the Heavenly Maiden Sect and his unusual studies put him in contact with the scholars above.
Romana had been a near miracle of a time sensitive cultivator! She had light and dark but somehow was able to sense fluctuations in time! He had a vast study of resources for space since teleportation was fairly common.
Time was much more difficult to study. He hoped to test out many things but she was in the Floating Isles and far too powerful to descend. The Floating Isle branch also refused to put him in contact with her until he heard she had left when he was busy with the Moebius Sect.
Was it a coincidence she came out to be a Warder?
"Thank you for this but what do you expect from me?" Lind knew beasts were not usually sneaky like a human or demon but Lady Frostfang finally became nervous.
The proud lioness seemed to become much more human in that moment but then Lind felt a shiver up his spine at her next words.
"I want you to have my child." Lind nearly bolted at that moment. The only reason he stayed was that none of his draconic instincts reacted. Not danger, lust, or anything even stirred in response to her words.
"I–I think you may have not quite gotten that right, senior." She tilted her head and looked adorable doing it. She seemed to think over it before becoming blush covered her face.
"I want you to care for my child!" Her voice made the room shake and echoed out into the sect. Lind felt a cold sweat break out as 7 auras suddenly zeroed in on him! He had expected 6 of them but the last one was Lady Gua, herself.
"I take it you have a child you want to join my sect?" Lady Frostfang quickly nodded as she felt the same auras and despite being a near peak Star Tier, she felt threatened! The auras slowly vanished but a few seemed to become intense before disappearing.
"There was no need for such nervousness. As you have seen, I welcome all that wish to learn." The sect was well within her senses but she seemed to fidget once more. The next moment Lind saw 5 strong elements flare around her while a 6th was solidifying.
Understanding finally came to him.
She was leaving. Soon from what he could tell. Her final element was fire but it was quickly matching up to the rest. Having just seen a forced ascension, he wondered if she was planning to head to the Ascension Pools in the far east of the Floating Isles.
"When I leave, a frenzy will be unleashed. I do not wish for my son to die needlessly." Lind became solemn. The request was not simply about teaching the child of a neighbor but actually taking them in.
He was confused about something though.
"What threatens him, exactly?" Lady Frostfang closed her eyes in pain before a sculpture of another massive lioness appeared. Unlike Lady Frostfang, however, Lind felt a frown mar his features.
If the current beast in front of him gave a feeling of comfort and friendship, the sculpture gave him the feeling of being looked at like meat on a slab. There was no mercy in the features and he understood.
"Your second will kill him and eat him." Lady Frostfang nodded again but Lind now got a bit angry. "You want me to go to war again?"
Lind knew enough to know that if he took the son of a Star Tier that left her territory to ascend, he would invite enemies that wanted to eat the flesh of a promising aether beast. It would be as good as hanging out a sign to come and attack the Moebius Sect.
"You defeated the crafty Lira and helped Han ascend. You have the power to save him." Her desperation finally made sense to Lind. She was not nervous about the request but about the fact she was basically unable to resolve things on her own.
The ways of each race were different but lions were fairly straightforward until it came time for a new leader. Rather than simply have the strongest take over or allow descendants to be nurtured as cultivators would, there was a massive battle.
Blood would flow like rivers and a large territory could be divided up depending on how things turned out. Lady Frostfang was seeking a safe harbor for her son but the outcome was clear to all.
One way or another, war would happen if Lind agreed.
He tilted his head back and understood the woman was meticulous. She did him a favor but he never asked for it. His Dao would demand he help but his honor demanded he repay kindness with kindness.
"Four." He suddenly spoke and she looked confused. "I can take 4 people. Your son, and 3 others. No more."
A massive smile crossed her face but he sent out messages immediately to prepare. Things were going to be dangerous soon again. He looked at the sculpture and knew things would be just as dangerous as the last war, if not worse.
He glanced at his ring and knew luck could not be relied on. He had a lot to work on but before anything else, he had to break his current bottleneck in Forging. He needed to make weapons once more but for mid tier Sky Realms.
Lady Frostfang bowed deeply before slipping away. The fuse was lit on the storm to come.
