Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 408 - 407 - Fey

Chapter 408 - 407 - Fey

She knew 2 people were following her.  Despite the war in her soul, she could not stop her honed instincts from working.  The near century of constant battles teaching at the Moebius Sect while also doing missions for her own sect had made her ingrained in battle.

Her ability to make pills had made her invaluable to the sect as well as she could make most pills she needed without wasting Qi stones.  She had barely made it to mid-grade 5 before things unraveled at the sect.

She still took joy in it as it led to the memories of Big Brother coming back into her life to save it.  He had saved her again and again.  He never asked anything of her but to be happy and find her way forward.

Her soul was broken, so very broken, but with him it was better.  Now, the cold night made her shiver and the 2 following her were powerful.  If they spared 2 for her, what was Big Brother facing?

He promised to come back, but would he?  He would if he could.  He would fight to the bitter end to keep his word, but there were walls that simply wishing could not overcome.  Her body suddenly stopped shivering.

What if Big Brother died?

What would happen then?

What would she do?

How would she ever live again?

Fey knew at that moment that if Lind died, she would die with him.  She had no desire to face the world without Lind Frey in it ever again.  She also knew there was only 1 way back.

Her heart rebelled.  Fear crippled her but then a voice came back to her.

"I only opened the door, you followed the path all on your own.  You did it, not me nor anyone else.  Never forget, Little Fey."  Tears flowed at the warmth of his words.  He opened the door, and he had done it again but she was dawdling.

She did not want to do it again.  It had hurt so much and there was so much suffering if she did it again.

"But Big Brother will die if you wait."  A voice suddenly spoke she realized was her own but from an image in front of her.  She blinked but the faded image of her remained.  It was a younger version of her, before all the darkness came.

"I am hallucinating.  I am still not recovered.  I–"  A sudden feeling of pain filled her right cheek.  She looked up to see a very angry face looking back at her.

"You are weak!  You really would hide behind him if he let you, but he is pushing you.  It is ever so gentle but he is pushing you because he knows!  He had heart demons too!  He knows if you give up, the little sister he adores will be gone!"  Fey felt guilt was over her and shame.

"B-but it hurts!  Everytime I grab the sword I can see all the people I killed!  I killed so many!"  It was the final piece she had not revealed to anyone.  She had been sent on missions where battle was practically inevitable, but she did not have to kill as much as she did.

"Yes, it hurts.  It should hurt because you ran away.  You let that thing take over and just hid away from the pain, but Big Brother broke down the walls!  You can't hide from me anymore!"  Fey then remembered.

There had always been a voice in the back of her mind.  A voice screaming that she was wrong, that what she was doing was not right.  It was so weak but it was never silent.  Fey looked up in awe.

"W-what are you?"  The faded version seemed to ponder a moment but then shrugged.

"Does it matter?  Maybe Big Brother unlocked something hidden in the spirit because he gave his all for us?  Maybe you nurtured something when you became the Fierce Fairy?  The only way to find out is to begin again, but none of it will matter if he dies!"  Fey shivered.

The vision of blood flowing from his neck as his empty eyes looked out of the face she loved so much.  NO!  She refused to accept that future!  She could not rely on Big Brother to make it happen.

He said it himself.  He opened the door, she had to walk through.

She closed her eyes and saw inside her ring.  It was rather small compared to other rings she could have had, but it was a gift from her Big Brother when she became an official disciple of the Heavenly Maiden Sect.

There were crumbled robes she scanned by, food, Qi stones, and finally, in a small corner by themselves, her battle robes and sword.  The sword had only been worked on by Lind but not altered.

It was a good sword, a peak grade 5 blade she had received for her efforts.  It was the last gift Big Sister Shoti had given her before leaving the sect.

Big Sister Qing had given her the battle robes.  Big Sister Annabelle had given her formation plates unlike any that could be bought.  They all doted on her but they only enhanced her, not paved the way.

The slowly stripped out of her current robes without a care as the 2 observers were actually stunned.  Fey, despite the damage to her body, was still quite stunning.  Even in the dim light of the moon and stars, she became the namesake of Fairy unlike anyone could deny.

There was no lust in the men's eyes.  They were struck dumb at a mythical creature that then donned a wrinkled battle robe but it only seemed to make her more awe inspiring as the sword was added to it.

A deep breath was released as all the Qi in the air seemed to start moving towards her.  It was as if a dantian was completely empty and was now being filled.

Fey opened her eyes and saw the smiling visage of her old self vanish.  She had questions but for the first time in a long while, she felt awake.  Her body was not lethargic nor was it distant.

She felt stiff.  She needed a warm up.

She looked behind her and smiled at the 2 men who were stunned to know they were spotted!  They barely had time to draw their short swords and daggers before their eyes went wide.

The grace, the delicate flow of limbs all mesmerized them as death came for them.  The Fierce Fairy was reborn!  Blood flew in the air as she raced by.  Her Sky Core sang with Qi as it pumped into her meridians.

She was alive again!  She was moving again.  The wind sang in her ears as the weight of the sword felt like an extension of her body.

"Wake up."  Only 2 words were spoken but the air transformed as sword intent blazed like the sun on her sword.  She saw the dome quickly fall to bright light as the battle raged.  The time seemed too slow to her.

Big Brother was doing his best but he was pinned down by bowmen to the far side of the grassland by the forest.  They were using core crushers.  Aptly named bolts created for the sole purpose of shattering a Sky Core.

They were weapons of an assassin but highly effective if used properly.  Fey got in range and saw it was a tier 6!  Her face became worried but then she realized he was blind.  She slowed as revealing herself to the bowmen would be suicide.

She had to circle quickly or Big Brother would have no avenue left.  She was one with the darkness as if she lived in it.  She could also bend the starlight to further hide her movement.  Annabelle had worked with her for years to hone the use of her elements.

She quickly found the dozen bowmen simply trained on the battle.  They were professionals and had a look out, but they were all only tier 3!

Fey did not pause or stop.  The lookout never saw the sword that killed him nor did the bowmen realize death had come!  She moved as quickly as she could as the battle was advancing even as she killed the last one.

They had kept firing as they died!

Big Brother had to dive from the still flying barrage, Fey could not stop them in time!

She put fire into the soles of her feet and flew across the grassland like a bolt of lightning.  The world was a blur to her but her old instincts kicked in.  Her body complained but she would have time to heal later.

All that mattered was stopping that fight!  She then saw the worst outcome.  The summoned dragon shape was impressive but only an illusion at best.  The tier 6 warrior correctly plowed on.

Then she saw emerald flames!  He did not give up!  Big Brother never gave up, but it would not be enough.  He was going to die and take the enemy with him.  She understood Big Brother very well.

He promised to return if he could and he wanted to, but he wanted Fey safe more.  He wanted no more enemies to find her.  Once all these were dead, few would dare to cross her as they knew the allies of Lind Frey would be going to war.

"NO!"  Sword aura finally returned after so much effort and she flung a very clumsy blade of intent at them both!  It was clumsy to her, to the blademasters that taught her, they would be stunned at the intensity and quality of the Qi inside the arc of a blade.

Shape could come later, but compression and qualitative improvement was the true battle.

Fey already beat it!

"You promised!  You promised to catch up!  I will not let you break that promise, Big Brother!"  Fey stood over the 2 surprised combatants. Big Brother was exhausted and Fey wanted to help but an annoying bug was refusing to admit his loss.

Fey was only tier 4, but much like the man that taught her, she could jump tiers!  She was out of practice but a single opponent with no other distractions was easy enough!

Her sword danced on the night air as if she had never stopped training and the warrior's eyes bulged as he barely dodged her dance of death.  His armor was like paper to her sword!

The battle was joined!
