Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 399 - 398 - Hellfire Heart

Chapter 399 - 398 - Hellfire Heart

The blade seemed to become the sun as Lind swung it like a bolt of lightning at Bishyin.  The demon easily sidestepped the swing but then was stunned as wind and earth pushed at him to put him off balance.

Lind twisted with his swing and his leg came right at the demon!  A vicious smile crossed the fine lavender features making him look as evil as possible.

A clink was the only warning as the head of the morning star extended on a chain for Lind's legs.  As if he knew, Lind covered his legs in scales that forced the weapon to bounce but there was still an audible crack from the scales.

The power was just too vast between them, but it was still impressive.

Both men hopped back and got themselves under control.  The tension rose but both were smiling.

"You knew?"  Lind shrugged at his question but that only made the demon smile wider as the head began to twirl.  Even Lind could not follow it anymore as the speed was far above him, but the Qi was not!

His Heaven Eyes saw the moment metal Qi flowed and leapt over the sparkling attack.  The metal Qi formed larger points on the head that would have shredded Lind's defenses like paper!

Lind used Storm Art 3 on Bishyin.  It was so named as it combined 3 elements into a storm of Qi but focused it.  Only 6 elementals could do it as the traces of the remaining 3 elements were used to infuse the cultivator.

It created the balance needed for the Art to work.

A set of lighting twisters flew at Bishyin while Lind's body seemed to become an immovable feature of the world.

"Not bad, but too weak!"  Bishyin used cold fire and metal on his morning star as it twirled once more but shock crossed his features.  The storm kept coming!

"Weak, perhaps, but not finite!"  Qi flowed like a sea around Lind but Bishyin quickly grasped the problem.  It was not a discrete Art that was launched and then separated from the cultivator, it was a conjuring Art that was always fueled by the cultivator.

It was rather frustrating as the former he could destroy easily but the latter would require going through the storm to get his opponent.  Despite the separation of tiers, he felt a threat from that Art.

He was wise.

The terror of 6 elementals was not just the flexibility of all elements but the lesson Lind gave them about the natural world.  He had discovered that 6 elementals were unique in the ability to mimic or induce natural effects from the world around them.

Thus, Wyndam had made Arts that played into that strength.  They were very difficult as it took a long time to understand the natural world, but Lind had made them a reality.  Thus, Storm Arts were not internal conjurings from the dantian but external conjurings from the world.

Bishyin would not be facing tier 2 Sky Arts, but the Floating Isles themselves!

Still, it was very Qi intensive to maintain and had a glaring weakness.  Lind could not move!

The demon quickly found that weakness but the arena restricted his movements and the storm took up most of the space!  Lind Frey was a monster to abuse the weakness for an attack!

Bishyin could dive through but he would suffer and that moment of suffering would be Lind's opportunity!

Laughter came from Bishyin at that moment.  His blood thundered in his body as he dropped his morning star.  A massive spear replaced it with a serrated tip and the color of blood.  Lind was stunned.

Demon Forged!  Peak grade 5!

There was a Forging demon somewhere!

His interest had to be pushed down but Bishyin nodded at him.

"This was made by my grandfather.  He is sadly long gone but if you can win our little bout, I would be happy to share some of his secrets to a true master."  Lind almost fell for it.  The spear had vanished during the words Bishyin spoke!

Instinct screamed at him but it took a few moments to release the Art.  Lind had no choice.  His body grew in size as emerald scales covered him.  Emerald light flared as he twisted his upper body to find a blazing cold fire attack covering the spear!

It had gone above the storm in an instant without a single disruption to the Qi!

Emerald fire built in his throat and exploded upward.  The spear was stronger than him but no fire could overcome a dragon!  The Qi dispersed to the total shock of both Fey and Bishyin.

Still, it did not reduce the force of the attack!  Lind's eyes narrowed as he did something very stupid but necessary.

He shifted his body slightly and the spear shattered his scales as it went directly through one of his ribs!

His body was as paper to it and it hurt, but he straightened as blood trailed down his mouth.  Bishyin was truly in awe of Lind Frey as the spear likely shattered some organs, yet it did not stop him!

Lind pointed at himself and then at Bishyin.

"YES!  COME!  FIGHT ME!"  Happiness filled Bishyin as he retrieved the morning star and charged it with more metal and cold fire Qi.

Hellfire Sect cherished strength.  They cared nothing for war, but personal battles drove them hard.  The heart of their path was to challenge the strong and rise above the heights achieved before.

It appealed to a vast number of demons and one of them chose to make a sect where they could fight to their heart's content.  It had simply been to make a place but demons were reviled or hated by humans for no reason.

Many battles had forged the Hellfire Sect into the supreme power it had become.

Darkmoor Kingdom often chose to join it if they could, but it was only one of many demonic powers in the Floating Isles.  The former Demon Empire had joined far more wicked or dubious power but suffered massive deaths over 10 years ago.

Hellfire did not care for morals but they had one criteria most Demon Empires had disdained.  Combat must be open and without tricks.  True strength came not only from victory but from riding the edge of life and death.

Lind had taken the spar from simple exchange to true battle and Bishyin could not be happier.

A roar came as the spear was pulled all the way through his body as the Storm Art dispersed.  Blood gushed but then stopped.  The recovery of a dragon was not to be underestimated!

No weapons on Lind's side as he launched himself across the small arena.  The scales were slowly recovering but it was a minor detail as the morning star sang on the air.  The cold fire and metal Qi made the weapon a thousand times deadlier yet shock returned.

Lind produced his own demonic Qi!  It was only Diamond Tier but it was shadow and acid!  It weakened the morning star to just its material strength!

The metal cracked his arms but that was all!

Sweat poured down Bishyin as he never imagined a tier 2 junior could push him so far!  He let his full aura out and it was low tier 9!  He was in the final tier of the Sky Realm!

His features were so fine but he looked like he had just come from hell as blue flames lined his armor and a sickly green aura finally appeared.  Instead of backing off, Lind stayed close and swiped his claws right at Bishyin's face.

The demon moved easily aside but frowned.  The poison was far stronger than tier 2, so why was Lind unaffected?  The scales suddenly drew his eye and actual joy returned.  Dragons were vital creatures, very few poisons worked on them even in the World Realm supposedly.

One of his elements was neutralized completely in that moment but he did not yield.  If anything, it added spice to the fight!

"Take this!"  A dagger appeared and flared with dark light!  It was not his element but the daggers alone!  Forged items allowed such unexpected moments but Lind was well aware and not unprepared.

Demonic shadow appeared again but his eye narrowed as the dagger sucked it in.  He had to dodge as the blade easily sliced open his scales on his bicep!

"HA HA HA!  Shadowdancer uses both opposing elements!  It is one of my grandfather's greatest achievements!"  Lind could only nod at that.  He could use all 6 elements but he had now seen 2 different weapons that used 4 elements at least.

It was not easy to learn other elements in Forging as Delenn had shown him.

His praise for the demon Forger rose but the battle had to end.  He was almost out of strength.

Grimacing, he summoned a black cylinder Fey knew well but only made Bishyin raise an eyebrow.

Before he could regret it, his harmony flowed like a storm and a massive blade suddenly materialized and swung down at Bishyin.  The demon felt a true threat from that scaled Qi blade and used his dagger to block.

The shock wave sent them both flying.  Lind heard bones break but he was not in any danger.  Bishyin seemed to have only been pushed back and his armor hardly dented.

Lind shrunk as he stood sweat soaked and exhausted, but his spirit felt better.

He bowed low to Bishyin.

"Thank you for your instruction, senior."  Lind was wobbly and clearly at his end but Bishyin was fully satisfied.

"Stop moping and get to work then.  I know you have…circumstances…but a warrior must not get lost in training and strategizing.  There comes a time to fight and that is now!"  Bishyin then collected his weapons and turned to leave.

Lind thought on the words and felt a cloud leave his heart.  He summoned an elixir and tossed it at the demon.

Bishyin froze and looked at it.  It was mid Heaven grade 4 demonic elixir.

"That is the best I can do but maybe I will have improved when I reach your sect."  Bishyin smiled wide and waved as he left the arena.  Yanmi was also not far looking on but her face was flushed as if she too wanted to fight Lind.

He waved her off and turned to Fey.  Unlike before, she was not as timid.  It was as if something was trying to work itself out in her.  A true warmth filled Lind at that moment.

"Sometimes a warrior has to fight, huh?"  The words were not just for him, it seemed.
