Chapter 365 - 364 - Divine Revelation
Chapter 365 - 364 - Divine Revelation
The somber moment at Myriad Treasures grave made Lind linger with Master Cain longer than he planned. So far as most were concerned, a visiting former elder of Sunlit Forge had come to renew old friendships.
Poe was actually a father to Eden! Lind cracked a real smile when Eden found out who he was. The boy swooned and pestered him with questions but Lind happily answered them. Poe merely looked on with pride as his son met one of his heroes.
Lind learned that Galen was, unfortunately, a member of a faction within Sunlit Forge that had enough backing to be a curse to Cain, but Lind fixed it. A simple call to the Starfire House for some information found all he needed.
Inside a single day, the more aggravating members of Sunlit Forge and those elders backing them found themselves exposed! Smuggling connections and also outright slavery trafficking that was outside the Stardust Emporium guidelines was revealed!
None but Cain knew how it happened but the bright blue on the Emporium guards was welcome as they hauled away the long standing troublemakers in his shop!
"You are going to see her and leave then?" Cain stood with Lind outside the Sunlit Forge. The sky was quite cloudy compared to the usual weather of Indelia. It was usually hot and with a breeze or two.
Cimmeria had arrays set up to keep the air flowing comfortably as much as possible, but their winter was mostly rain and clouds as it was now.
"I put it off for too long. I am glad we could catch up but I would rather not draw prying eyes." Lind had noticed a few men and women had been frequenting the shop but not buying much. They made some inquiries about a visiting elder's work but the frequency was increasing.
It did not take him long to confirm feelers were being put out about Taren Cord. While he would be protected for a bit, information brokers were notorious for finding what many thought safe.
The two shook hands before Cain pulled Lind into a hug. They both knew it would be their last meeting, one way or the other. Lind smiled and patted Cain on the back.
He then moved off to the rougher side of Cimmeria as he took in more changes. It was all new shops or expansions of ones that had been there when he was last in Cimmeria. He also noted the newer expanse of street where it had collapsed when his battle with the Fiend portal took place.
Lind could see in his mind's eye a young aether child with sapphire and gold hair dancing down the streets. His warm smile made his handsome face draw a few eyes but his Diamond Tier aura kept all away from him.
As he moved through the streets he felt eyes on him but only smirked as he carefully summoned a formation plate made by Annabelle. She had become exquisite before she ascended to the Floating Isles and left him many such plates.
This one had been a request by him though. It did not make him just vanish, it made it hard to notice him. He was still there, but anyone trying to look directly at him would find their eyes sliding off.
Even those trying to find him would slowly lose him and then it would be too late to reacquire him. Eventually, all feelings of being watched vanished as he noticed some people suddenly rushed forward and scanned the crowd trying to find him again.
The formation plate did not affect such efforts but as they could not picture their target anymore, their efforts were wasted. Lind quietly moved on and finally came to a rundown alley where no one seemed to live.
The distortion washed over him, shattering the formation plate's effect as easily as glass.
"I am back, Mas–" Lind had cupped his hands and bowed before a massive hammer came flying at him. He dodged easily and summoned a saber he had Forged to fight. The battle was joined as his saber flash with emerald light.
If it was made of metal the hammer would have shattered it long ago, even his best weapon could not withstand a mid grade 7 weapon!
His harmony, however, could deflect and restore itself. His Qi consumption was very high but he did not stop. Sweat covered his brow as the illusion covering his features faded. He needed the Qi more to fight!
He occasionally tried to summon lightning or use wind blades but his opponent easily swatted such things aside without losing stride.
Eventually, Lind ran out of Qi, so his saber was discarded as his body became covered in scales. His fist cracked on the first hit of the hammer head! Pain raced up his arm but his now vertically slit eyes did not flinch.
The fight continued for a few rounds but blood made Lind slippery and he was finally open to a clean hit. The hammer swung through the air and stopped just short of puncturing his ribs.
"You have improved, at least a little." The pale eyes of Delenn smirked at him as she looked barely winded! Her broad shoulders and well muscled arms had not changed at all! She did seem more relaxed, however, but Lind attributed that to their reunion.
"I had to be prepared when I came back after all, Master." Lind was barely standing as his skin returned to normal but his injuries healed at a remarkable rate. He still lost a lot of blood and would need a few elixirs to recover completely.
Delenn picked up the discarded saber hilt in interest. It was just a black cylinder now but as soon as she put her Qi into it, a powerful saber appeared! The metal began to crack as it was never meant to withstand Immortal quality Qi.
"Interesting toy. It is a waste of Qi in the long run." Lind could only nod. As he improved the design the Qi consumption skyrocketed. Manifesting Qi forcibly like that was impossible for others but there was a catch.
"Individual elements you are right but observe closely my harmony." Lind summoned another saber hilt of similar quality at peak Heaven grade 4. Emerald light flared and Delenn's eyes narrowed.
Lind was clearly exhausted but had already recovered enough to use the saber?
She used her senses as a Forger to carefully examine what was happening and frowned. The Qi consumption was much lower for his harmony?
"How does that work?" Lind shrugged at her question.
"It is a mystery of the harmonies. I have worked with my former disciples and elders that were 6 elementals. The only thing we learned was that some harmonies were very efficient while others were worse than pure elements." It was a contradiction as some harmonies were inclined towards battle, like Kexin, but their harmonies burned far faster through Qi using something like the saber.
It was a field of study only Lind really looked at as it interested him to unravel his harmony. The Gu Clan had many records of how their harmonies of turquoise shades were inclined to healing or enhancing Arts Wyndam had created.
Red shades of harmony were more inclined to direct attacks with blunt weapons but those were both still generalizations. Lind had encountered people who had a nearly crimson harmony but could not use a battle Art to save their lives.
"It may be something with compatibility with the creator of the tool?" Delenn threw a question out that sparked a few ideas. Lind was about to talk when a thump filled his chest.
His eyes dulled as he slowly turned towards the back of the alley. Delenn immediately noticed his change but did not interfere. She felt an aura far above her suddenly!
Lind walked slowly to the dead end where the sigils were inscribed in the very air. They now glowed with emerald light! It was not Lind, however, that was causing it alone.
Delenn began to hear a thump that made her bones rattle but she looked on as Lind stopped just shy of the weaving. His dull eyes seemed to light up as something became clear.
"Of course, I am so stubborn." Lind felt like he had been in a bog and was now emerging onto a clear path. He had pushed his elixirs and Forging to the peak he could reach at the moment. To advance any farther, he must become a Sky Realm.
He had a third profession inside him. He had not been sure but his random experiments with weaving had been too successful to be a coincidence. It was similar to how he made soups that were dramatically effective compared to what they should be when he was a child.
He was a natural.
Now, after the question of compatibility, he realized his issue with Weaving. It consumed his soul to use it and thus he had been very cautious. The few low to mid grade 1 sigils he had assembled seemed to consume far more than it should of his soul.
He had been going about it wrong!
Emerald light flared around him but slowly compressed until it was just in his hands. It was difficult. His harmony wanted to spread evenly or explode outward but he followed the thrum of resonance from the weaving in front of him.
"Smaller, it has to be smaller." Lind was mumbling in half a trance state. He was following the flow of Qi that was once inside him now in the sigils.
The once impossible to unravel patterns were clear as day now. The Divine aura was familiar to him as well. He had been here before!
"Senior Skinwalker, thank you." Lind finally woke up completely as the very tips of his fingers sparkled with emerald light. He examined what he had done in his head and observed carefully what he had at the moment.
If he was to express the sensation, he was taught by reliving the reinforcement of the current Immortal Weaving he had forgotten in his memory until that moment.
"Compatibility, it is all about compatibility of the sigils and assembling the best ones. I was forcing it for so long!" There were nearly endless sigils from what Lind understood but he had only been exposed to very advanced ones.
He had been trying to leap frog true grade 1 sigils by reverse engineering Immortal sigils. As if his mind had been waiting for the revelation as his fingers began to dance in the air.
Compared to the elegant shapes sharply engraved in the deadend, his looked like a child's drawing. Very large lines in simple shapes floated in midair as he carefully assembled the true weaving.
The 6 sigils combined together to make a circle around Lind. The Qi in the air began to flow to him and swiftly recovered his nearly empty elemental fonts and dantain. The sigil flared before breaking apart once its work was done.
Compared to before, hardly any of his soul was used! Lind was about to cheer when the flow of Qi suddenly surged. He felt his foundation fly to the very peak of high Diamond Tier. He assumed a lotus position and stabilized his cultivation but it was already almost there.
"We have much to discuss, it seems." Delenn was smiling. She had cursed her entrapment in the alley for so long but for the first time, she was glad. She was happy to see her student finding his way safely with the most dangerous profession in cultivation.
The 2 of them headed back to their old quarters to have a meal and discuss Lind's future plans.
