Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 321 - 320 - Source of Wrath

Chapter 321 - 320 - Source of Wrath

"I see, we felt that tribulation out here which we knew was bad.  Still, Father was happy.  He got his answer, it seems."  The same beast as before was talking with Lind as senior dragon soul felt antsy back in Lind's body.

She spoke not a word as he relayed all Skinwalker conveyed and who Kora and Tal were.  The large serpent like beasts were quite curious and seemed to nod about something when they examined his 2 companions.

"If I may ask, what will you all be doing?"  Lind found it odd that Heaven and Earth had not expelled them now that the Inheritance was gone but he was stunned at their response.

"Father left strict instructions for us.  We have to ensure his Inheritance leaves no lasting damage to this mortal realm.  As you may not be able to tell, there is now a partial Divine Ruin here.  We will need to remove it before following after that new world into the void."  Lind let his senses stretch and realized he could feel a distortion just barely.

The Heavenly lightning never stopped but it could not reach them in that place still.

"What will you do, successor?"  Lind felt a bit guilty at that new title but he bowed in respect to them.  He really was not sure.

He had come to Rakathi for time and opportunity to reach Gold Tier, but now he had it, he was unsure what to do until he reached the peak once more.  He was contemplating returning to Sarth continent when he looked up.

The lightning never stopped, but why?  How many were trapped by it despite his new invention back in the village?  There had to be a reason, and maybe it was something he should look into as all 6 elements were angered.

"Seniors, do you know what is the cause of the Wrath of Heaven?"  Lind only hoped for a clue but a quick nod got his attention.  They knew so readily?

"As we told you before, our ability to observe this realm far exceeds others but in that particular case, there is a void of knowledge.  The Rakathi Wastes are formed of the old Archadian Empire."  Lind nodded as he had learned of that, but not the cause.

"The old capital, where it should be at least, is now a strange dome of Qi.  It is there that the lightning tried to breach but it was denied, thus the wrath spread until the empire paid the ultimate price."  Lind looked over the wastes around him and swallowed.

All of the Rakathi Wastes were once part of that empire?!  He had NOT known that.  He had been under the impression several powers once ruled here but then he recalled how the great powers operated.

They had a central hub, or area under their direct control, while the wider lands were managed by various levels of other powers loyal to them.  Whatever happened in the capital deflected the destruction to the entirety of Rakathi!

"Could you tell me what you do know, as it was noted your Inheritance was here before it happened?"  They bowed and some went off to begin the cleanup while the mostly humanoid being stayed with him.

"There is not much to tell as it was sudden.  Although we observe, it is not as if we examine every moment of a mortal's life.  Only someone that creates a wave of change draws our eyes so prominent cultivators you likely heard of we also know."  It made sense.

To a being that lived for millions up to billions of years, a few decades was just an eyeblink.

"Please, give me everything."  Lind wanted to know, an instinct inside him told him it was important.  He was curious, but the odds of heavenly wrath taking the shape of a storm of all 6 elemental Qi seemed very remote to him.

"There was a war going on between Archadia and several of its neighbors.  It had come to the point that it went on for close to 1000 years.  The reasons were normal.  Resources, slights to honor, or simply because they wanted to raid a great power of the time."  Lind nodded as far too many wars fell into that box.

The Qi began to flow as a simple frame display was put between them.  It was Indelia, but very different from the one he knew.

Cimmeria was only a tenth of its size compared to what Lind knew but the north eastern side was full of dots.  Several large dots glowed as Lind recognized the coastline he was now standing near.

The largest dot became a detailed group of large cities.  It looked quite beautiful but something caught his eye was the designs on some of the buildings as the floating display zoomed in.

It gained colors to confirm to his shock that he had been right, harmonies!

There were buildings he recognized as training facilities a sect or even an academy might have for teaching basic cultivation techniques or Arts.

These buildings, however, were full of people that matched the flame harmony on its entrance!  He saw more than one and then he felt stunned as he did a rough calculation in his head and knew what he had to be seeing.

"They could break through to the World Realm!"  The beast nodded.

"Indeed, Archadia had seemed to figure out how to reach the Iron Tier at least from what we observed but the method was…odd."  Lind was looking at the beast's face which seemed unsure how to proceed.  "It would be better to explain that we once observed several individuals to see if we could understand but they entered an area we could not perceive."

Lind was stunned.  How was that possible?

These were Divine Realm beings!

"Karmic shields?"  Lind had the question blurt out but the aether beast nodded as a possible issue.

"If they had an effective karmic Art or technique, it would explain a great deal about their rise and eventual fall."  Lind nodded as most sects and powers forbid anything dealing with karma, even if found in a Ruin.

It was learned long ago that attempts to regulate karma always came with a backlash of the opposite flow.  If someone tried to inflict karmic retribution or pass off their own to others, a kind of pressure would build up as moving karma around seemed to only delay the results.

No one would deny liking karmic restitution if they could invoke it, but while it would be allowed a handful of times, it came at extreme cost without warning.  That very example was used as a demon had discovered an Art in a Ruin it put to use on its enemies.

No one remembered too many details about the demon anymore as one day black lightning struck down on every blood relative of a clan that could be researched but no one knew what caused it until after the fact.

Their clan had a sudden streak of good luck over 10 years but then was wiped from the face of the world.  It coincided with a Ruin exploration where a group of their clan had been all smiles and smug.

No one knew what they found but the result was made clear in that terrifying moment.  Taboos did not stop cultivators, certainly not if they could see immediate gain.  As to the details of what tipped the scales, no one knew.

The area where the clan once stood was now avoided by all due to the fact that black karmic Qi was still there!  It was still being invoked millenia after the offender was gone.

"So why a Heavenly Wrath and not karmic retribution?"  The beast shrugged.

"It may have played a part but the war began."  The slightly smaller dots, Lind would guess high powers, moved to attack the capital.  Lind saw death on a scale he had never imagined but it eventually became a stalemate.

"After a few thousand years, something happened out of our sight, but then it became something never conceived of before."  Black clouds boiled from all directions unlike any tribulation Lind had ever seen or read about.  Even as a display, he felt the terror of what was about to happen.

He carefully observed the clouds and saw what he suspected would happen.  All 6 elements flashed as powerful lightning bolts.  The power built and slammed into the wonderfully built city at the very heart of the empire.

Lind expected it to be destroyed, but instead the city was absolutely fine!  The powerful bolts were deflected outward onto the standing armies.  The death that started there made all previous battles pale in comparison.

He felt all his new strength in his body was paltry compared to what he now saw.  All the Arts, power, and even the strength of the Divine Realm cultivators felt like nothing compared to what he saw unleashed at that moment.

The reason was due to the punishment being thwarted and it kept getting stronger and spreading more and more.  So long as it could not strike its target, it kept gathering more strength but then something stopped it.

It stopped getting stronger and just spread in all directions.

"The restrictions of Heaven and Earth?"  Lind's question was met with some surprise on the beast's face but it nodded.

"Indeed.  Even in its punishment, Heaven and Earth cannot simply destroy a realm for an individual transgression.  It has instead isolated its target in all directions.  There is no escape and whatever method was used to hide from it cannot last forever."  Lind wondered about that.

Anything that could deflect that kind of punishment had to be from a Ruin or…

"A RELIC!"  Lind suddenly reviewed the layout of the capital.  He could instantly recall it as the beautiful towers and austere streets had one oddity.  There was a large area cordoned off near the very heart of it.

It seemed similar but if the projection was accurate, then Lind harshly reviewed it in his mind compared to the other buildings.  They all seemed similar, but the cordoned off one was of much better materials.

It was also where the lightning struck first.  What kind of Relic was that?

"That would explain it better than karmic manipulation but it could also be both.  If there is a Relic, it is active and could last for billions of years."  Lind heard the beast's words but he was thinking of something else.

A whole empire of 6 elementals that could reach the peak of Iron Tier but no technique or Art was spread at all.  A whole power based on developing what he knew would be very powerful cultivators due to having all 6 elements could not possibly keep it contained forever.

Pieces would sneak out and what if someone learned it was all due to a Relic?  The 3 glowing dots were still displayed as Lind began to suspect the truth of the war.  Greed.  They wanted the Relic.  They wanted it for themselves.

Lind had to go.  He had struggled and made it to the Gold Tier but perhaps there was more he could learn from such a Relic as he had before.  It could also be a part of the same Ruin near the Aether Sect!

The mystery of Rakathi was there and he was going to see it!
