Chapter 283 - 282 - Lies and Truth

Chapter 283 - 282 - Lies and Truth

The Moebius Sect had been honored with powerful visitors in its short history, but the vast number that arrived in quick succession of a few weeks made information brokers weep as Lind Frey was a demon of withholding information from them.

The man tightly controlled facts and rumors were too many to believe.

In the central complex, a room was hosting the various members of the powers in a fairly relaxed atmosphere.

The only 2 exceptions were her majesty Callisto and the Demon Empire envoy Rathi.  Both of them were isolated but still partaking of tea and snacks from a table set up for them.

"I knew the Moebius Sect was awe inspiring but even our palace can not claim to have the efficiency I saw on the way in."  A fairly dark skinned young woman wore a tan wrap around her voluptuous body.  For a human, she was stunningly beautiful but compared to Callisto, she felt lacking.

"Your highness is too kind.  Master Frey had seen many structures in his travels and applied a good combination that brought about good results."  Wyndam was acting as host to the young woman who had a mirror image next to her.  They were the identical twins from Calim, Pelea and Yaren.

The only difference was their elements.  Pelea was a dual elemental of fire and air.  Yaren was a tri-elemental of darkness, earth, and fire.  It made separating them easy for cultivators but impossible for mortals.

The wraps barely left anything to the imagination in one sense but covered them completely.  They were only in the Stone Tier but soon to be in Iron Tier.  They also asked a lot of questions about Lind Frey, but Wyndam gathered more from them than what they got from him.

It amused him to give up a few stories about his master to them, but important things never passed his lips.

A depressed young man looked on while Wyndam kept an eye on him.  Vell had been essentially ignored save by those that thought he was a servant.  The boy was humiliated but could only console himself with some ale.

His much more robust father had arrived as well.  The king of Seluthir was a low Gold Tier but he was a mass of muscle.  His hair was barely showing gray as it took him a long time to get to the Gold Tier.

His fierce amber eyes were settled in the craggy visage of the warrior king, but any that thought he was a muscle head would find themselves politically slaughtered without knowing how they died.

Still, the man was clearly intimidated as he wore his best robes and cloak with the silver and crimson colors of his kingdom but he looked like nothing compared to the others in the room.

The members were all careful but due to the unique situation, the usual discrete separation between cultivation realms was ignored.

The open doors suddenly shimmered as a demoness entered.  Cyntilla drew all eyes but she only bowed before heading straight to the vibrantly blue haired demon.

"Lord Rathi, my husband wishes to talk to you for a moment."  The words were clear but the fine featured demon nodded and followed Cyntilla out.  Murmurs filled the room after but Wyndam worked his magic while Lysanna also kept a tight rein on the other side of the room.

The only person they did not bother was Callisto as they did not feel suicidal.

"It has been some time, Lord Frey."  Rathi knelt when he met Lind which made both Cyntilla and Ethry surprised but Lind knew the man a little better.  He only sighed and waved for Rathi to rise.

"I am glad you are healthy.  I also heard your sister joined in the Purge."  It was the term given to the breaking of the false Inheritances that held living Immortals inside them.

Rathi nodded and looked grim.

"I bring a message from my brother in law.  We owe you."  Lind frowned as he did not understand but turned to Cyntilla.

"Apparently of the few applicants from the Demon Empire that qualified, only Rathi has returned in several thousand years.  Further, the blue fire Inheritance was found to be a false one."  Understanding came to Lind and he felt a chill in his spine.

The feeling of the Inheritance gave him no warnings like the mecha one had.  The quality was clearly higher and now he was glad he intervened.

"I assume such a favor does not cover the boy?"  Lind did not insult Rathi by dancing around the subject but as expected, Rathi shook his head.

"Anything regarding Akashic Bloodline cannot be simply resolved that way."  Lind sighed but appreciated the bald truth over lies.

"Very well.  Then how about this, will I be getting an apology for this mess?"  Rathi's face twisted slightly but then a jade slip appeared before being tossed to Lind.  He sunk his senses into it and was stunned to see a familiar set of handwriting.  Viola had sent it.

[Master Frey.  I cannot make my brother apologize for the actions of my people.  He was not involved and honestly, he is irritated to be our envoy.  Yor and I both agreed, though, you would not trust any other envoy we sent.]

Lind cracked a smile.  She had not changed.

[I am aware of the complicated mess created by our information leaking and actions, but for involving your friends, I deeply apologize and so does Yor.  We have issued a standing order to not interfere with Moebius Sect.  Further, your gifts have been heavily appreciated.]

Lind glanced over that paragraph more than once.

"Why your sister?"  His words were clear but Rathi clearly had expected it.

"His highness cannot speak for the Empire.  He is still Crown Prince but his ability exceeds his father.  Also, the bloodline is ours.  We will not apologize for reclaiming our property."  Lind felt tired just listening but then Rathi looked apologetic.

"The actions on the day you took them in, however, were not approved at all.  The demons involved have been punished severely."  Lind closed his eyes.  It meant they were dead or used in a dark ritual as fuel.

"I repelled them without bloodshed, well without lethal bloodshed.  My beloved also confirmed they went out of their way to avoid harming anyone.  I would appreciate that the punishment of the branch does not occur."  Rathi nodded and immediately summoned a communication jade stone.

The Demon Empire would punish the family as well as the direct offender.

"It is done.  His Majesty apparently expected your actions as the punishments had been delayed."  A relief spread through Lind at that.  Yor and he may not agree on much, but it was not bad to be understood.

"Now then, you state you were not interfering but how should I interpret the actions in Seluthir?"  Rathi flinched but said nothing.  "I have to believe the goal of reaching the boy included my involvement since Tur is a neighbor.  Or was that ignored?"

Lind's sarcastic tone made it clear how he would view a lie but Rathi stayed silent.

"Fine, let me tell you a story, if at the end you have nothing to say, we will go to the meeting.  If you do, I will hear you out."  Lind then began to relay all Wyndam had discovered and interpreted.

The history of the Cygnus Clan's defection to Darkmoor to the covering of Seluthir debts in the mines.  He covered how rumors and interest was fanned in neighboring powers until all of it drew out their true target.  The boy Kalen.

Rathi's fine features twisted at times and looked pained at others.  Lind knew he was not directly involved but he was the envoy now.  He had to have been briefed in case he had to be.  The silence stretched before Lind began to look cold.

Of all things, that moment made Rathi sweat.

"I apologize, Master Frey.  My sister raged for days when she found out.  Brother in law was not happy either as it could alienate the benefits we currently enjoy, but his majesty was adamant about reclaiming the new Bloodline inheritor."  Lind looked hard at Rathi but saw no lie.  It did not make it true, it only meant it was what Rathi knew as the truth.

"Very well.  I believe you, Rathi.  I will, however, expect a formal apology regardless of how things turn out."  Rathi bowed in agreement.  "Now, I have some bad news for you that Callisto already knows.  The boy is in the Sand Tier."

Shock flashed over the fine features but then confusion.

"How did you contain him?"  Lind smirked as he looked at his wife.

"He was no different from an upstart trainee that believes they know better than me.  I simply corrected his idiocy."  A cold sweat broke out at her words on Rathi's forehead.  The records were clear on the strength increase at the Purgatory Realm.

The fact Cyntilla could still rule over him spoke volumes to her power.

"I will relay that to my brother in law but it will not change our stance."  Lind nodded as he expected that.

"The first thing to address is not that, but the lies woven over truth that created the mess we are in.  Clear that up and hopefully many issues will vanish.  Also, stop supporting Seluthir."  His firm gaze left no room for negotiation but that action was a near war offense.

Rathi nodded and then followed them back to the meeting room.

Lind was glad Rathi did not lie to him.  He also appreciated Viola's message but it did not negate the fact the Demon Empire owed him big.  He would extract as much as possible from them and then he would take more as he suspected a few more issues were their fault as well.

The coming meeting would be annoying, but he wanted to burn off the superfluous and only deal with the heart of the issue.
