Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 247 - 246 - Young Master

Chapter 247 - 246 - Young Master

Tolan felt anger rumbling in his heart.  He had worked hard in the Divine Sword Sect to come far, farther than his brothers ever dreamed he could.  He was a member of the Par Clan.  A prestigious clan of the Divine Sword Sect territory.

He was the youngest of his siblings but had always been treated as useless.  He had enjoyed his youth before being given a hard choice between being disowned or joining the sect.  He did not want to lose his prestige or ability to have fun, so he joined the sect.

Stunningly, he had a great aptitude for the sword.  He had progressed through the Soul Realm to the World Realm with seeming ease and increased his prestige far beyond being a member of the main family.

He enjoyed the power and women that came with it.  He had made it to the low Iron Tier and won a chance at the special tournament beyond anyone's expectation.  The sect held battles and he had earned the respect of several elders during his path forward.

It had all been going perfectly until the announcement of the slots.

A slot had been taken by an outsider!  An elixir master to boot!  How was that possible?!

Tolan had the ruggedly handsome features of his father but his eyes were cold when that announcement had come.  He used his connections to learn that slot had been won from a senile World Realm by the name of Bord.

He was part of the faction that purely focused on the sword rather than the Tolan's faction that focused on gathering power.  Their faction was small but Tolan enjoyed the prestige and power that came from being part of it.

They were slowly growing and thus protested a slot being 'given' to an outsider that way.

The response had been for Elder Quin from their sect to take over the group going to the tournament and do a final evaluation.  Tolan had smiled wide as Elder Quin was known to be the harshest elder to please.

She was an impressive swordswoman but the important thing for Tolan was she was connected to his Clan.  She had worked for them until she became an Elder of the sect.  He assumed it was all going to be resolved once the upstart faced Elder Quin but his hopes were dashed immediately.

"What is the meaning of this?!"  He stormed into the main tent to find the dark faced woman going over jade slips and looked up at him in annoyance.  She was far above him but his family still could command her from what he was told.

"It would seem that disciples need a reminder in manners."  Tolan was suddenly slammed into the ground and sweat broke out on him as he realized he had overstepped.  "This is not your Clan and I am your Elder, Little Tol."

He sneered in his heart at her arrogance but he could do nothing but accept it at the moment.  He would make her pay once he was back as his rise in the sect had his father's deep approval.  His father would make sure to avenge his disrespect!

"As to why you are here, that boy is far more powerful than Elder Bord relayed to the sect.  I think he did that on purpose so someone would challenge him."  Elder Quin now spoke with respect about the outsider!  Tolan thrashed in anger but the pressure did not let up.  "As for your chance at a slot, have you not challenged any of the others, Little Tol?"

Her teasing tone made him rage but he could only lay on the ground in impotence.

The pressure finally relented and he picked himself up.  He was covered in some grass and dirt but he did not even bother to remove it.  He only grasped the hilt of his sword and bowed to an elder as he was supposed to.

"Better.  If you feel you deserve a slot, then you must win it.  There is still a month left, so go do it."  The dismissal was clear and he left the tent in anger.  His cold eyes contrasted with his handsome face but he did not care about his image at the moment.  All he cared about was killing the fool that took his slot away!

He was moving through the camp as he saw the peasants still practicing for their battles.  They were nothing in his eyes.  Only the slot holders held his attention.  He was about to head to his own tent to plan when he stopped in shock.

An aether child he had never seen before was in the camp.  She had pristine white robes and had gold and sapphire skin.  Her hair was an equal mix and she was beautiful.  He could tell she was an Iron Tier still but near the peak from what he could tell.

He was entranced as he saw her move towards the food tents.  He immediately cleaned himself up and put on a new set of dark gray robes.  He followed her and saw her looking over the options of food to put on a plate.

The Divine Sword Sect knew a cultivator could fight better in a positive mindset so their food selection was excellent.  It was not as high quality as Tolan would like but the taste was hard to argue with.

Still, he did not care about his normal consideration at that moment, all he cared about was the angel in front of him.  He was not bigoted like so many fools in the world, women were attractive no matter where they came from to him.

"Who is that?"

Tolan heard more than a few young men ask the question but a look at her robes told of her origin if not the reason she was in the camp.  She was clearly a Maiden.

A scoff from one of the women in the food tent made the men look but she was only looking at them like idiots.  Tolan did not like it but she was one of the slot holders.

Cara Furlan was from a rival clan in the Divine Sword Sect lands.  She had silver hair cut short so it would not get in her way but her beauty was without question.  Her lithe body was well known to any that faced her in battle but not as a distraction.  It was a point of fear as any part of that body could lead to death!

She had total control of her limbs and easily attacked with sword, hand, or foot without any pause.  Tolan knew she was no opponent he could face head on.

"After you are all done drooling, you could use your brains to recall who arrived today."  Tolan did not understand until he recalled who took his slot away.  Lind Frey!  He supposedly had gotten married to several well known Maidens which included an aether child.

Tolan felt his fists crack in anger as his angel was now in possession of that outsider as well!  How dare he show off like that!

"Excuse me, could I please leave?"  A gentle voice broke Tolan out of his stupor and he realized he was standing in the entrance.  He blushed as he quickly stepped aside and bowed as she passed.  "Thank you!"

He felt like her voice was the chosen of Heaven and Earth.  How could such an angel be soiled by a lowly fool like that?  Tolan looked up to find her gone but swiftly followed her out.  She was easy to spot in the sea of gray.

He eventually found her entering a larger tent that had been set near the other slot holders.  There was a post outside each tent for a challenge and while a few had some marks, the one she entered was currently blank.

Tolan felt his blood boil to think his angel was in that tent that should be rightfully his.  He immediately stepped up and put a mark on the board.  He would crush the outsider and take his angel away from such a hell.

He whirled and headed back to his tent in a huff but began to practice his sword technique.  He would win his slot back!

Lind sighed as he saw the board in his tent light up.  A mark placed was a challenge.  Until the month ended, the slots in this camp were up for grabs, at least in theory.  He looked at the name and frowned as he knew that it was a powerful clan in the Divine Sword Sect.

"I will have to face some challenges for the next month.  All of you work on what you need to.  If I can make an elixir for you, let me know."  His elixirs were at nearly mid grade 4 consistently so he really could help them if they needed anything.  He had not yet qualified for that to reflect on his badge but considering other levels, he had to be close.

"Will you be using any weapons in those challenges?"  Cyntilla was curious as Lind had become reluctant to use weapons for some reason lately.  He looked at her and smiled as he simply shrugged.  She felt her heart skip a beat as the look of confidence from him was enticing.

She saw her sisters were not much different but it was not the time or place to indulge themselves.  They worked on their arts and techniques as they could while Lind cultivated.

He was still at mid Iron Tier but high Iron Tier was close.  He felt like he could break through on any day.

The camp was a good place to hone his body and techniques.  He had pushed himself far but now true battle awaited him.  He had seen the other slot holders tents nearby and felt the aura of each was easily at or above him without question.

Breaking through to the Gold Tier after a tournament was not impossible for anyone, but such a tournament as this, he was sure they held back as much as possible for the Inheritance.  Still, Stone Tier could be what he faced more than Iron Tiers.

He would not hold back but he would not go all out for the challenges coming his way.  Not even a few incense sticks of time had passed when 3 more marks appeared.  It seemed by the names they were related to the first person.

"It would seem that Tolan was a competitor for the slot originally before I got it."  Lind sighed as he understood he was likely going to be annoyed the whole month but one man.  Even if they lost, they could submit a new challenge each week but if lackeys got involved, Lind would do nothing but battle.

"I could take care of some of those gnats, husband."  Shoti stroked her whip and smiled in a way that gave him chills.  He was quite sure she would not kill anyone, but maiming was not out of the question.

"I will take care of it as I must.  So long as I want to keep the slot, I am committed."  Lind waved off her offer but he smiled at her to show he appreciated her offer.

Shoti smirked and winked at him but then left with Cyntilla in tow.  He began to sweat in fear that bad things could happen in the camp but both of them were practical despite their battle hungry nature.  He prayed to any Gods listening to be kind to a fool that ticked them off.

If he had known he was in a camp of young masters and mistresses, he would have forbidden them from going out.  It was like dropping sharks into a sea of minnows!  There would be no mercy from those 2.
