Chapter 1705 - 1704 - Great One Interferes
Lind was forced to kill 3 more True Lords. Two had been in combat but it was as the leaders of 2 forces. They had exhausted the humans beneath their command and then slaughtered other cities that had survived.
Asia had fared better than the rest of the world it seemed but in exchange, their wealth and power drew beasts to them.
A dragon had been among them as well and he had to rip it apart. The battle had not been difficult as it seemed Lind's bloodline was still superior to the other. The dragon had dark red hair and brown eyes but that did not narrow it down at all to him.
The blood stench of terror and regret had been so strong it was impossible to even grab the scent fully off of him!
The other Lind had never encountered. The woman had pale white hair and eyes but with green traces throughout. He had actually felt disturbed looking at her and even the Fiend looked uncomfortable.
What had she been, he did not know but he would look into it later.
The last beast was also a dragon but that one had become a tyrant. He had set up a massive arena and watched as compelled humans fought to the death. The victors became his food!
The women were his playthings as well. He would like to think the Fiend corrupted him but he knew what that dragon was.
The Demon Nightscale Dragon was notorious for its brutality and insatiable libido. Man or woman, they were feared by all. The fact one became a True Lord actually stunned Lind. Heaven and Earth were fair but the dragons were brutal in their trials.
He had seen how far they would go to push a candidate before they could ascend so how had that dragon race ever produced one?
He had no answers and unlike the other, the Demon Nightscale Dragon only desired blood and sex.
Lind had fought him for a week before he finally gouged out his heart and dantian. The Fiend's presence did nothing to him at all. The emerald Qi also did not quite kill him so Lind took another 3 days destroying enough of him to die.

The sudden prompt told him it was not solely the slowing of the array exposure but something else. He had figured it all out, so why was the trial not over? There was nothing else he could do exactly.
He still had Africa to go through but based on his observations, it too had become a desolate place. The Sahara seemed to have exploded across it!
There were almost no signs of civilization of any kind but he did not take that for granted. Europe was a swamp it seemed but cold, bitterly cold.
How had the world been so broken so easily? He could understand where there had been impacts but other places seemed drastically more damaged than they should be still.
The Fiend had confirmed even she was confused on that. She had nothing but time to learn and so she grasped physics, climate science, and so forth. She needed to when guiding humanity in the direction she needed.
A threat had to be understood to stop it or foment it if it served a purpose.
Lind eventually did find the last True Lords. He knew they were the last because they banded together to fight him!
It seemed they had come to fear him immensely but only 1 of them was his target.
The dragon with black hair and pale skin had a thick aura of murder and terror on him.
"Voidshadow Dragon, I only need you, the other 3 can leave. If you find the Shen and that cowardly violet haired dragon, tell them to come find me or I will find them." The 2 women and 1 man abandoned the dragon without pause.
The Fiend had not affected them but none of them were interested in the humans. They had been seeking the secrets of the trial.
Why only those 3 chose to do that, he had no idea but he would delve into it later. They had been all vividly colored in their features to the point of being painful. Tropical birds hopped into his heads but they could also be poisonous creatures.
"You have killed when you did not have to! Why?! We stopped hurting those ants!" Lind sighed but before he could answer, he noticed something odd.
With everyone else, the Fiend was indifferent, arrogant, or simply annoyed, but her eyes were wide like saucers now. She looked as if she had seen a ghost.
He looked at the man. If Lind was to describe the long black hair with billowing black robes and pale skin, he would almost think of a stereotypical depiction of a goth rock star or something like that.
Still, nothing stood out to him save the thick stench of death. Why was the Fiend reacting like that?
Lind confirmed he was a dragon but it was only delaying the inevitable. It was time to end things!
He was about to attack when a chill went down his spine. His harmony flared like a sun inside his body. He had no idea what happened but his arm was gone!
He looked at his right side and then heard a scream as he turned to see the female Fiend lifted up by the throat in the Voidshadow Dragon's arm. That strength and speed was far above anything he had seen before!
"It was troublesome to get to you. I had these pathetic creatures digging so damn slowly to find you and who brings you to me? Lind Frey!" The voice had changed. The pale skin shifted to ash gray as the eyes turned pale white.
The once black hair shifted to gray and began to be streaked with white. The sky rumbled but neither party cared.
It couldn't be?! Lind had always detected it before but he had felt nothing when he looked at the dragon. When did he become a thrall?!
A sneer crossed the former dragon's face.
"Twice in such a short time! It was so difficult but creatures of the void are the most susceptible to my influence. Demons would be better but if they did not follow the corrupt path, they can be maddeningly resilient." The Bastard had claimed the Voidshadow Dragon!
"You lied!" It was not a question but the dragon actually frowned at his words.
"I did not. You never asked me if I found a way around your damned prison. Even after all my efforts, I only got 1 to really connect." The calm sophistry made Lind incensed but he was not focusing on that so much as the current danger.
The Fiend had gathered the locus of the array on her. If the Bastard reconnected with her, the Earth was as good as dead!
He could not allow that. He moved before the thoughts completed but the Bastard controlled the Voidshadow Dragon and Qi actually appeared!
The air was torn into as rips into the void appeared all around them before it vanished.
"Damn it. Fragile wastes of worlds are annoy–" His irritation was a mistake. Lind snatched the female Fiend away but the Bastard only sneered at him. "Far too late. She was mine to begin with, I only needed that little contact to reopen the path!"
A scream came from his arms but Lind sliced his hand and ripped the gag from her mouth before slamming his palm over it.
The Bastard looked confused before he began to scream in pain.
Emerald flames appeared on both the female Fiend and the Voidshadow Dragon! The Fiend was going to die without question but the thrall was a different matter.
His harmony was severely restricted in the trial. It could not propagate like he was used to normally. The flames died on the dragon's body but the female Fiend was reduced to ash.
The broken array would cease all functions soon and the weapons tied to her would also fade to paperweights in the future.
He doubted anyone would truly understand what happened but he noticed the trial did not end. He knew why. The Bastard said it himself. He had reopened the path!
If the Voidshadow Dragon connected to the array, the planet would be imperiled once more.
"That was annoying. You shifted something about that thrice cursed harmony of yours. What did you do?" Lind did not bother answering. Instead, he attacked and instinctively exerted his bloodline.
Unexpectedly, pain passed over the Voidshadow Dragon's face. Lind quickly used it to try and get his blood on the man but the Bastard was still able to dodge. It came at a steep price as his ears heard bones crack instantly.
The Bastard was exerting far more strength than the human form could withstand in the restricted trial space!
Lind did not let up and it was clear something was wrong now. The Bastard kept trying to do something but pain was the only result.
"WHY?! Why is it not working?!" Lind gave him no time to experiment until finally the Voidshadow Dragon's body twisted in an unnatural shape in both legs. The body collapsed and the arms were too damaged to pull it away.
Lind now stood over the glaring man.
"What did you do?! You did something?! WHAT?!" Lind had no idea what he was talking about. Instead, he quickly slammed his bleeding hand into the heart of the beast. The reaction was unexpected.
{DANGER! TRIAL HAS BEEN BREACHED! EVALUATION SUSPENDED AND EMERGENCY ACTIONS INITIATED!}
A massive plume of emerald flames shot up not only from the dragon but across the world! Lind paid heed to nothing as he suddenly saw something he had not seen in a very long time.
Very faintly, he saw himself in a humble study with a flame in the hearth and the desk loaded with scrolls and jade slips. His other self looked up with a smug smile at him and then looked at something else.
[Burn you Bastard. Burn]
The vision shattered but the distinct impression of deep satisfaction was followed by the Bastard screaming and Lind knew it was not only the thrall burning. It was only then he realized what was happening.
The prison was outside the trial! He was exerting his true power!
