Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1670 - 1669 - Divine Lord

Chapter 1670 - 1669 - Divine Lord

Lind had suspected for some time there was a new plane of Authority wielding figures. While True Lords served as a racial deterrent and regulator to keep beasts in relative harmony with their worlds, the Divine Lands seemed a joke to need that.

The massive size of lands, the sheer scale of power made any True Lord absurd. Lind could not command a fly unless acknowledged by Heaven and Earth in the Divine Lands. Why?

It signified a qualification that had to be met but just to gain broader reach for his Authority? That seemed a needless threshold as he still retained power inside his race.

The fact he learned later there were possibly multiple True Lord dragons made him finally confirm his suspicions.

It was clear he was being tested for some kind of next step and now he knew for sure.

Haro was sweating bullets as he kowtowed on the platform.

"Divine Lord, please forgive this Guardian for being blind! My Master is not a native of the Divine Lands but an ascended True Lord. Further–" Lind then saw Haro was nearly dispersed but he felt nothing!

Their connection was weakened briefly but the method eluded him!

What in the blazes was that?

[LIES! No Ascender carries the favor of the Twin Lords. Only the chosen awaiting the Gate Pavilion have it!] Lind was confused but there was only 1 set of Twins the worm could be referring to.

Still, he did not waste time trying to explain things normally.

[I swear to Heaven and Earth I was born in a mortal realm as a human and attained dragon soul by deed. I became a Divine Progenitor and passed the 3 Divine Inheritance trials of the True Lord before ascending through the Celestial Fields to the Divine Lands.]

The sky rumbled but it was only confirmation as the Oath settled.

Silence descended before a change was felt. Haro was restored and even better than before! Once more, Lind had no idea what was happening but the swift reversal made his eyes go wide!

He could not do it! Even the 2 precious sister artifact spirits he had nurtured in his own body had been an act of long and careful processing. Fortune had favored him too to speed up the process or he might still have them in his body to the present day!

Yet, the Quicksilver Divine Lord Worm seemed to nearly disperse and restore Haro with a whim! Haro was a very powerful artifact spirit nearly at full strength that even Lind could not put a scratch on him!

[How long?] The two words came with impressions and Lind finally understood. The worm did not wish to converse like people. It loathed it for some reason but he was not able to return communication in kind that it would understand.

He glanced at Haro who nodded vigorously. A Master Tier could already crush them so a Divine Lord likely had even more options to kill them if it so wished.

He once again swore an Oath to be safe and concisely conveyed his lifespan with several demonstrations of his vitality.

He had done all of that as the expected reaction came. The entire metal slab actually moved!

Yet, a shocking thing occurred where the mountain peaks suddenly lit up and an aura that nearly put Lind to sleep washed over him. His harmony flared and purged it but he was stunned at the fact he could not resist at all!

Unlike his rather smooth actions, the Divine Lord raged and then became quiet after a time. It could not resist the natural formation?!

Understanding flooded his mind. It was a trap! Whoever originally founded the power there long ago had found the Quicksilver worm in a dormant state! They had recognized it was far more than normal too!

No wonder it disdained speech!

He would be just as enraged as the worm was!

Lind wondered if he could do anything but the newly freed senses confirmed the formation was far from simple. Even breaking a few peaks would not matter as he saw the ones nearest the metal slap get damaged and then be repaired!

He sucked in a cold breath as the profound level was clear. Mystery Grade!

Just what happened on the island that such experts came to found their powers there?!

Maw Island was clearly once such a treasure trove that even elite experts in all fields had come to claim it!

The battles must have been horrifying.

Lind knew he was not a peak expert yet, not even close, but he at least had started on the path. Was there truly nothing he could do? The formation used the energy of the target as well as the island's natural Qi flow to trap the Divine Lord.

Yet, Heaven and Earth were fair. A method to bind exists so a method to break free must also exist.

Time, however, was never on his side.

"I just need the Great Bastard to drop dead and I would have time to figure this out!" Lind spoke aloud in exasperation but he never imagined the reaction.

[EXPLAIN THAT!] The voice was back and Lind realized the Divine Lord was slowly breaking free but knew the limits.

He glanced at Haro seriously but this time the ring spirit shrugged. This matter touched on the heart of so many things.

Lind sighed and tried something simple.

He pictured Lanbao's death and Master Delenn's fate with so many others. He pushed it all like a normal transmission and felt something shift in his mind. It was as if an aspect of his draconic nature awakened and he instinctively refined it all again.

He waited before something changed. The oppressive aura vanished and he even felt like his Heaven Mystery had improved from the experience!

He also felt wrung out. Such pressure was not easy to withstand but only he had suffered under it.

[Guardian, isolate him please/] Haro jumped but waved his hand.

The black ring on Lind's finger flared to life before a powerful dome unlike anything Lind felt before covered him. He felt completely cut off from everything but the respectful words and his trust in Haro made him stay calm.

[Do you know what you are?] Lind was confused at the question. He then decided to cover as much as he could so he showed his struggle in the mortal realms with cultivation and how many worked together on the backs of ancient seniors' research to finally break the cage for 6 elementals.

He found it easier the second time around but it felt like it lacked the refinement of speech to him.

A long silence followed before an elderly woman appeared in the isolated space with him.

"I cannot transform but transmission is unwise. You do not know what you are and I cannot directly tell you but understand even if you were still human, I would happily welcome you." Lind was confused and getting mighty tired of cryptic messages.

Restrictions were one thing but something on his own existence had long worn out his patience.

"The Bastard has killed us all many times and only the young fox progenitor is why we have a chance to survive but all of that is used up. Senior, we have no time for hiding and I need to get stronger. I need to kill him twice it seems!" The elderly woman nodded her wizened head of pure white hair.

"If I could tell you, I would but you would then be dispersed. So would I. Do you understand?" Rage filled his body as long pent up frustration seared his veins.

"NO! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS CONSTANT GAME OF WITHHOLDING CRITICAL INFORMATION UNTIL THE LAST POSSIBLE MOMENT! YOU SAW! YOU SAW WHAT IT HAS COST ME AND TRILLIONS OF OTHERS!" Lind had no doubt the slim margin the Celestial Fields had survived could have been drastically improved if the higher realms just collectively had their heads removed their hind quarters!

So close to the end and being cut off at every turn had finally pushed Lind to his limits.

He was done with it. Help or just shut up but don't dangle some mystical bait in front of him anymore! He had work to do and a strict time table that shrunk with every passing breath!

The woman sighed before holding out her gnarled fist. Her hand suddenly held a familiar power that shocked Lind rigid.

Harmony Qi! He felt harmonic Qi from a Divine beast!

He shot upright and his emerald eyes picked it apart only to frown. He looked at the Divine Lord and before he could ask she put a finger to her lips.

"You will understand but I could not show you in the open world. It is pushing it as it is. You may stay here and cultivate but be warned, the Ravenous Abyss Worms are nearly lost. They may come here soon simply to die but it will not be simple." The name made his hair stand on end!

He knew that name! It was listed in several bestiaries as a race to never provoke nor enter their territory while active. They did indeed consume massive resources before slumbering to digest and advance their cultivation!

She then vanished and the dome returned to the ring. He looked solemnly at Haro before looking at Arlen.

"We can stay but I will need to go out. Never leave this place, ever." The 2 men looked somewhat confused but when Lind spoke the name of the other worms they had encountered, Haro nearly lost his mind in fear.

Maw Island had been named due to the actions of the worms but many worm races used such tactics. Identifying them was made difficult because of that fact.

Being told it was the worst possible race explained why even Fiends would not come near it. It was not a simple consumption but actual application of inherent Dao and Laws. There was zero chance to escape!

Lind needed to completely rebuild his ship so they could get off the island as soon as possible! They needed resources and there were not enough in the Broken Palaces. It was going to be a long and dangerous path ahead!
