Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 165 - 164 - Physics

Chapter 165 - 164 - Physics

Lind never appreciated how powerful his Sky Eyes were.  Sabrina was only at Soul Eyes but what she saw was limited.  Even so, it was enough as the subject in question was a Soul Realm.

Delia had carefully tested and expanded her ability with light and earth over the years she cultivated.  Lind realized she was stumbling in the dark about something he understood very well.

Cultivators understood the natural world but they did not understand physics very well.  Delia had discovered by accident about static shock.  Lind had used his basic physics knowledge to generate lightning and it went beyond his expectation in the Lotus Empire.

The science of Earth gave Lind an advantage but cultivators had deeper understanding of their elements than he expected at times and Delia proved that.  She had no idea about static shock but had learned that earth could work with light to make sparks.

She did not understand the how, but saw the results of her experiments.  Lind smiled as he studied the notes he took from Sabrina.

Shoti had admonished him about abusing his students but he had simply gotten lost in the challenge.  Delia was so close from what he could see but also, she had tapped into power he had underestimated.

Lind always had to consider all 6 elements but Delia had no such issue.

He was even more happy than he expected as he had overlooked this situation.  He had always worked to make items anyone could use, but customizing was far more difficult.  Lind understood the basics better than Delia but he was not sure what to do.

He could teach her about what she discovered but it would reveal his previous life experience as the cultivation world did not have a firm grasp on the subject.  Physics was known to an extent but only in relation to the elements in a dantian.

Lind looked at his notes and had a few ideas but pushed it all aside as he thought about how Delia used her elements.

Unlike most Soul Realms, she used earth the most to power up her body while light was used to make various effects.  Lind noted a few of her meridian points but he was stumped on what to make.

She needed a special item from what he could tell.  A sword or armor would not be good enough.  He could Forge an item that used her elements easily enough but he needed to help her with her techniques.

He tried to see if any weapon or armor would help, but nothing worked.  Traditional items were not compatible with the advanced physics of Earth.  Lind then began to think about what the limits were without a tool to help her.

She had to touch someone to use the special technique but if a tool could fix that issue and enhance it, that would be best.  She also seemed to grasp more of static electricity that he did which made him smile.

He loved the puzzle in front of him!

Lind thought about materials and ways to arrange them but nothing satisfied him.  He then began to think on Earth.  For anything else, Earth was only a good basis, but one thing Earth far exceeded the cultivation world was imagination.

He thought about the many movies and books he had read over his first life and had an inspiration.  He then had to think about Delia's future and talked to Master Delenn if his idea was feasible.

Surprisingly, Delenn had to sit through his detailed explanation of what was possible with just a human body and controlling the forces of physics.  A cultivator was far more sturdy than a mortal but Lind suspected there were weaknesses that did not change no matter how powerful they became.

After brainstorming and looking over some ores, Lind still only had a vague notion.  He was sitting in a garden during the afternoon as he observed the small birds go about their day.  Cimmeria had birds with darker feathers with bright color highlights locally but Lind missed the more traditional birds he had grown up with.

Cardinals and bluejays did not exist in this world so far as he could tell but when he was a child on Earth, he remembered being taken out to nature walks.  He had despised the heat and humidity but the colorful birds stuck in his mind.

Lind recalled pestering his parents about how many birds there were and what kinds lived where.  A smile crossed his face but then he frowned as he could not pull up his parents' faces.  It annoyed him when he came across the gap in his memory.

He pushed back his now long standing gripe regarding the gaps in his memory.  He focused on the nature around him and suddenly saw something surprising.

The birds were in the Body Refining Realm from what he could tell but a Soul Realm one had arrived.  What stunned Lind was that he saw it was an earth core!  Why would a bird have an earth core?!

Lind watched as the claws suddenly became metallic on the dark bird.  It slashed a branch with fruit on it and pulled it away as it flew back into the open skies.  Lind bolted up out of his wooden chair and sent it flying.

His dark green eyes sparkled as he understood.  He did not have to explain physics and teach Delia how they work, he could make a tool to do all the work for her!  She was almost there, herself and using a tool would finish her comprehension!

Lind swept his crimson robes behind him as he jogged over to his drafting room.  There were already many notes on Delia's dimensions and the flow of her Qi.  He looked at them with fresh eyes as a smile crossed his face.

"Adults always said reading comic books would never lead to anything productive."  Lind nearly laughed maniacally for the fun of it but restrained himself.  He then went through his mind of what ores he would need as well as some other materials he would need beyond metal.

He hummed as he began to outline something that had never existed in the cultivation world so far as he had seen.  Refining an item like this would also be impossible but Lind was truly curious how it would go.

It had only been a few days but Delia was once more at the Heavenly Maiden Sect.  Master Frey had summoned her to witness the crafting of her new item.  He also wanted to confirm she wanted what he came up with.

She appreciated having her input asked for but she knew little about refining let alone Forging.  She was taken to a very different chamber as it was not a meeting room but a forge.  She saw several closed off areas likely holding Maidens working on their own refining for the sect.

While they were not rated as highly as other powers, the Maidens nurtured refiners within their own halls to keep their secrets as close as possible.  Master Cain would be reached out to for special work that was beyond any refiner in their own sect.

She saw Master Frey in a very different outfit than his normal crimson robes most had seen him in the last month.  He now was in a large leather apron over course robes that clearly were treated to resist heat and protect Master Frey during his process.

Delia was confused as Master Frey had Forged 6 staves in front of all in only his crimson robes.  Did her item require such safety procedures?

"Ah, you are here, excellent!"  His smile made her nearly miss a step.  It was unfair how handsome he was when he smiled but she shook off the superficial thought.  "Before we go further, I need you to wear some protection."

Lind pointed to a wall where more aprons were hung.  She also saw a kind of helmet with a movable shield.  She found ones that were able to fit her smaller frame and then covered her robes and head with each.

She returned to him and saw him nod.

"We have to take these measures as if I fail, it may cause the molten metal to shatter.  If I feel it is too dangerous, I will have you excuse me to work alone until I am sure I can make the foundation."  Delia nodded as she understood now.  The staves were clearly a high success item for Master Frey, but something new had a high chance of failure.

"So, where are the designs?"  Delia did not see any drafting board or other plans laid out but Master Frey smiled and pointed at his own skull.  She smirked at his cheeky answer but appreciated his secrecy.

"First, look at this."  He rolled up the course wool to reveal a shining metal band connected with what appeared to be crystal or possibly an alloy.  It encircled his arm and she saw it wrapped around his hand and fingers.  It looked very rough to her eyes but she then looked stunned as earth Qi filled the air.

The metal glowed as Master Frey easily crushed a metal ore with his bare hands!

"Examine it for yourself."  Lind handed over the metal and Delia found it quite heavy but she tried to empower her own body with earth Qi yet she could not even put a dent in the metal.  While Master Frey was peak Soul Realm, the same technique should have similar results.  "This is a prototype of my idea.  It is called an exoskeletal gauntlet."

Delia was intrigued but frowned at the appearance.  It was clear it was hidden by the bulky garment he currently wore, but if she wore it with her robes, it would be clear as day.  As if reading her mind, he smiled.

"As I said, this is a prototype.  It proves the concept and demonstrates what I intend later, but is not the final appearance.  Here."  He handed her 2 small orbs of metal.  Delia did not recognize them but as soon as she held them, both her cores responded.  She felt a closeness to both.

"These are grade 2 metals.  Lumenite and chrysolite.  While earth Qi can harmonize with most metals, this one works well with lumenite to make the result you just saw."  Delia nodded but the bright silvery yellow and tan colored metals looked nothing like the dark metal bands now on Master Frey's arm.  "To make it work for me I had to accommodate the other 4 elements."

Her eyes widened as she understood the difference between them.  Anything that Master Frey had to do always had to use all 6 elements even if she did not feel them.  He then laid out some more decorative colors.

"I can accommodate blue and gold colors but if you have a preference, I can easily do that as well.  The core will be the 2 metals you hold but the outside can be made to match your desire."  Her violet eyes glowed with joy as she looked over the choices.  She looked up though to ask the obvious question.

"Will this gauntlet be all there is?"  His face broke into a wide smile as he shook his head no.

"There will be a pair of gauntlets and a necklace.  You will be able to use them together or independently.  If used separately, they will not be as powerful but together they will be impressive.  Does that sound appealing?"  Delia felt like she was light headed.  It had only been days but Master Frey was able to come up with something that could increase her strength so much and do more?!

"What can it all do?"  He nodded and stepped on a formation plate on the floor.  The wall began to distort as it expanded.  She was stunned to see such an advanced and powerful effect that moved a wall instead of just erecting a ward but the burnt marks everywhere made the clear practical need for a solid object clear.

Master Frey exposed another gauntlet before a pendant was pulled out to expose it to the air.  Earth Qi flowed from the gauntlets again but the pendant flared with light before a spark of lightning flared to each and made them glow with its power.  It was lightning with only light and earth Qi!

He then touched the same crushed ore from before and it shattered.  The apron and helmet protected her but she saw he was cut by one of the pieces on his exposed arm.  He sighed as he downed an elixir.

"You can see one of the effects.  Depending on how you want it tweaked, I can make it discharge but know it loses power when discharged over a distance.  I will also work on protection but your Qi comes with limits at these metals.  If it was grade 3, I could add a light shield."  Lind clearly had been experimenting and learned the limit of what he can do.  Delia was just fine with what she saw.

"I am good!"  She was giddy!  With this she would have a massive increase in her power!  He smiled and then began to discuss the details and how much he could change.  The conversation was enlightening and broadened her horizons.  She looked forward to seeing the actual Forging once it was all settled.
