Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1647 - 1646 - Frank Discussion

Chapter 1647 - 1646 - Frank Discussion

Karu had spent a decade cultivating in the best environment she had ever encountered. She was in a set of halls that had bestial trials that pushed her to refine her bloodline and grasp more of her Dao Path than ever before.

Having to hide and restrain her racial progress had slowed her down severely in the last few centuries but her foundation had been polished to the extreme.

Thus, when given a chance, her cultivation exploded. She had been studying Mysteries for centuries and thus condensed all the way to the Samsara layer!

Unlike Lind, she could directly use future knowledge to help her refine her Mysteries once she condensed them. She had learned long ago she could change her Mysteries and now she was pushing herself hard to condense more profound ones.

Her Life Layer was actually ahead of Lind when he first arrived as she had fused it before attempting her Death layer.

That was the normal way but Lind was so unique she never offered advice beyond safe words or guidance that would not influence him too much.

The Divine Realm was deeply personal for each cultivator so the normal process of master and pupil was not exactly like before. Seeking other opinions was also not as helpful and could influence someone to take an easier path.

While someone could condense a Mystery that way, it would never be as powerful as it could be if reached independently. Further, it was similar to those that relied on pills, elixirs, and other external factors to advance their cultivation realm directly to the next step.

It would work to a point, but since they did not do it themselves, they would eventually hit a bottleneck they could never overcome without extreme intervention or by the grace of Heaven and Earth.

She had heard and seen too many cultivators take that easy road only to regret it later. Still, some had no choice in the dark days they all currently lived in. Strength to survive sometimes could not come fast enough.

She relished, then, that she could freely pursue strength on her own merit was a welcome change. The various challenges actually were not that difficult as her future knowledge gave her a near unbeatable edge in comprehension.

Now, after she finally faced the final layer of the Apprentice Tier, she was locked out of the trials for some reason.

She suspected she had advanced too quickly or maybe there was something she had to do to advance to the next stage of challenges but years passed before a pair of figures appeared around a humble table set with tea and snacks.

She felt no shift in space, it was just one moment to the next that she was seated comfortably with them.

The aura of the identical twins made her nearly shrivel by instinct but she cupped her hands and bowed her white furred head to them.

"Junior pays respect to the esteemed Divine Twin Legacy Maesters." The title made both men sigh but they smiled and nodded back.

The tea was very good and she actually felt unknown issues in her body resolving themselves.

The silence was not tense but Karu knew they had not come simply to share tea with her.

"Fate Reversion Talent. That is the unique Talent you have, child of Snow Dancer 9 Tailed Fox." The man on the right suddenly spoke and Karu felt her head nearly split open from his words.

Blood flowed from her nose but not a huge amount. The twin on the left pinched his brow but only placed a jade vial with a swirling white mist inside it.

"Drink and we will talk." Karu did not even question it as a pleasant cool feeling flowed in her body and her previous progress was not only improved upon but her bottleneck melted away as she condensed her first Samsara Mystery with ease.

She stared at the now empty vial as she had never heard of any such elixir before! A smug smile crossed the left man's face but his brother just rolled his eyes as if it was a common occurrence between them.

"How did you know what I am and my Talent, seniors?" She asked openly about things she had been unable to talk about due to the restrictions of Heaven and Earth. Her race was a rebirth of a very ancient line of 9 tail foxes that were wiped out by the other races due to the unique traits of the race.

Their natural power aside, the entire race was known for their ability to have accurate visions of the future or to scry for anyone hiding from other forces. Unfortunately, their bodies and cores were ideal for creating tools in that area as well.

There was always high demand for such artifacts but key materials were rarer than the reverse scale of a dragon!

Greed, of course, never considered long term losses, only short term gains.

It was rare for a progenitor to re-ignite an old bloodline but it was the only way once it was wiped from all the worlds.

The pair sighed before erecting a few barriers with formation plates and even a pair of artifacts that seemed to lessen restrictions on her!

"Heaven and Earth are fair but sometimes I feel it gets in its own way when confronted with an enemy like the Great One." The right twin spoke and his brother nodded. They were so in sync it made it easy to think a mirror was just reflecting one or the other!

"We are not our true selves but due to the nature of this Inheritance, we are changed by what happened to them. Thus, we are not unaware that events have been reset many, many times." Shock filled her as she had no idea!

She had met so many Master Tiers that were completely unaware of what had happened despite her fervent hopes. Lind was the only being that accepted her Talent at face value and then, after he began using it to an extent, accelerated the fight against the Fiends!

"Can you help us?! It is our last time! I can't do it again and Lind is being thwarted left and right! We need–" A dam burst and all her worries flowed out like a flood. She spoke for so long her voice cracked and had to down the now tepid tea just to keep talking.

When she finally wound down she felt exhausted but also much lighter. All those concerns she could never voice had been weighing on her.

Despite his drastically changed foundation, Lind was lagging behind his other selves badly. Help was cut off right at the beginning and so many had died that had not before!

The twins never interrupted her but she finally stopped, they looked at her calmly.

"We are not true beings, Little Karu. We cannot leave the Inheritance and you of all should know how many restrictions are on what we are allowed to do inside it." The left twin broke her the bad news but it also cleared her racing thoughts. She blushed as it had been so long since anyone but Lind knew what she was going through.

A fresh pot of tea and more snacks were provided that she appreciated.

The smiles on them both made her feel better too.

"You do not need our trials to push you. In fact, you seem to have been long ready to advance. We will provide you resources, but in exchange, explain a few things about Lind Frey for us. He is an anomaly that should not exist." The right Twin's words made her pause.

She held nothing back as vials, ingredients, and all manner of things she needed to enhance or nurture her progress as a cultivator.

Years passed before they were done and she actually reached the Journeyman Tier. Once again, she saw a celebration of lightning, she even saw her progenitor tribulation transformed into something wondrous.

A massive 9 tailed fox was condensed to almost a real life appearance and fused with her! That had never happened before!

She returned to the table and both twins were grim.

"So, the literal existence of all is on the line. Lind Frey has tapped into another's Talent to shift his entire foundation and now he walks a similar path to the Great One." The right twin seemed pragmatic about it.

It was like he accepted the necessity but did not like where it all had come from or where it was going.

"Brother, you need to look at it in another way. It explains why he changed each time he attempted the Inheritance but showed no recognition. It was always a new man!" The left twin was much more excited about it all.

It was the first time she truly perceived they were 2 different people.

"Little Karu, your worries are not wrong but you are mistaken on 2 points: 1, Lind Frey is not the same being at all compared to before. He had stepped onto a path none can follow nor replicate ever again. 2, his past actions will have a massive effect on the present." The left twin smiled at her but the right smacked the back of his head.

"Stop being so naive! The price for all that change was mass slaughter! The Great One killed all those beings while Heaven and Earth could do nothing! Fate Reversion is not so kind as to let changes happen without cost!" Her eyes went wide but the right twin suddenly shimmered harshly.

Both men became serious until the strange issue seemed to resolve.

"What–?" They both held up their hands to stop her.

"It is beyond this world's wisdom to share. Just know that you are innocent as is Lind Frey. Survival is not kind. When the balance is quite literally all of existence, harsh prices are to be expected." The words made her shiver. They knew something about her Talent but it was beyond her realm to know?

There was another realm, she knew but she died shortly after achieving it usually. A thought passed through her as tears began to fall.

"I will die even if he wins, won't I?" The pair froze and a strange aura flowed from them. She felt like all her secrets were laid bare in all her lifetimes.

Eventually they came out of it but they did not smile. They seemed to glance at each other in silent conversation before the left twin sighed.

"It is possible. There are too many factors yet to seal it but a great many options to survive have been annihilated already by that monster." Pain lanced in her chest as she knew a few of who he referred to.

Karu took a moment to calm herself before asking one more question.

"Has Lind's changes meant I can change the future again?" There was no pause as the sky darkened and thunder rumbled above them. Without even glancing up the brothers spoke in unison.

""Future Reversion can no longer be invoked. The path is set and only oblivion or light remains.""
