Chapter 1621 - 1620 - New Air Ship
Chapter 1621 - 1620 - New Air Ship
The Southern Continent had suffered from the Fiend offensives but some places were not worth it, even for them.
A small city state in the western region was run by a council of Apprentice Tiers called Crescent Tear City.
It was surrounded by cliffs in the shape of a tear from above. The narrow end was the main entrance and a defensive choke point on the ground. The surrounding cliffs were heavily defended but a group of Journeyman Tiers or a single Master Tier could shatter it with ease.
It was not a resource rich area but it was a hub of trade and crafts at the grade 8 and a few Maesters running guilds as well.
In other words, it had moderate success but not nearly enough to draw in any interest from Fiends or foes.
No one was expected to rise like a phoenix from there but a solid foundation could be built.
A modest shop was run by a human with 2 young women of the aether children race. The man had blonde hair laced in white but he was a high Apprentice Tier that had developed a good reputation in the last 2 centuries.
They were, of course, Lind Frey, Karu, and Gaia. The small girl was now a gorgeous young woman at the peak of the Immortal Realm.
Her foundation was profound compared to before and far more potent than it could have been without his guidance.
They were in isolation but Lind needed to progress his professions as his bottleneck on his second Samsara Mystery was not loosening up at any time it seemed.
Thus, they followed leads across a century of travel by foot over the Southern Continent heading west. They found a place that met his needs and set up a shop after some negotiations.
His expertise in Forging was well received but he secretly produced elixirs and weavings after confirming the lack of Fiends in the city.
There was a minor teleportation array that could reach one city away but no more than that.
Lind had lived a simple life fulfilling orders and improving his craft. He was now a Triple Maester once more at the Dao Grade. Weaving was all for their use alone but he was glad he had examples to test and compare to.
"Maester Ares, is my armor ready?" A man suddenly ducked into the selling area. He was a slim figure but his aura was profound at the peak of the Apprentice Tier.
Lind smiled before putting a chest piece with greaves and arm guards on display. They shimmered with golden light as the metal ore was purple adamantium. A relatively rare ore had been found by the customer to make their new armor.
Lind had made Dao Grade armor which the customer smiled wide to have. A massive pile of Divine Qi stones was exchanged and he left with the armor equipped.
"Was that the last one?" Gaia poked her head out from the back room and he nodded.
"The last order has been fulfilled." Lind flipped the sign on the window to the street and sealed the door.
He dismissed his disguise and his taller form with long emerald hair and eyes now stood in the modest shopping floor. The 2 aether children swapped to the pure white furred Karu and the hybrid human Gaia.
Her aether child heritage had made her disguise actually stronger than anything Lind could conjure up.
Her figure was more lithe than most humans could achieve but he had seen more than a few dryads with such figures. They were born from nature, after all.
Plants never needed voluptuous figures to attract mates.
Still, her father's aether child side gave her humanity's needs to be a certain size to thrive properly so a balance seemed to have been struck between the 2 bloodlines.
He collected all remainders on the shelves of his creations before the trio went into the back and revealed a secret passage down into the earth.
They walked for a good while in the dark but none of them needed light to see.
Eventually, an opening appeared with gentle blue light ahead and became a massive hanger. Floating at the heart of it a massive vessel.
Previously, he had based them off of sailing vessels, then fictional starships, and finally more of a personal craft only to get the best results, yet now, he had to push his creations in a new direction.
The Divine Lands operated on too many varied energies that were normally uniform or at least had an upper limit in lower realms. It was not impossible to come across Mystery Grade areas that would shatter anything based only on Laws or Daos.
Lind had taken centuries to advance his Forging and weaving to the point that he could succeed in making a rather interesting vessel.
The main body was still designed similar to a boat but each side was lined in thick tubes that fed into the back area which had 3 large cones coming out the back. A set of closed sails were tied to 3 masts.
It was a very large vessel but it had to be for the interior.
Lind walked over to a pylon with simple controls on it.
"Once I activate the spatial tunnel, we will have a slim window to escape." The pair nodded as they quickly headed over to the gang plank that led up to the top deck. The sails began to expand but rather than simple white cloth, they shimmered with different qualities of power.
The main sail was for Daos while the other 2 smaller sails were to guide Laws and Qi to propel the ship at a decent pace. The masts pulsed with power that flowed down into the lower decks.
Where the cargo hold would be on a sailboat normally, was a massive apparatus to store and regulate various energies to let the ship sail the skies.
The 3 cones on the stern were, of course, massive thrusters for quick escapes or extreme speed. He had not really been able to test more than stress of the materials but he was confident they would work.
There were crystal windows spread out just below the main deck. Only 1 level could house people and it was fairly cramped.
Just like a sailboat of old Earth, he had to build everything into it for efficiency and to avoid damage to the internal structure if they suddenly changed directions.
There was a raised deck at the back that housed the main control room. Lind felt nostalgic that the ancient mariner design worked for his ideas.
He then saw the ship float on its own freely with all 3 sails ready to go. He pushed the main violet crystal at the heart of the pylon before he vanished and appeared on the main deck. His next job would be to react to any obstruction.
The ceiling swirled before sunlight blazed down at them. The ship slowly moved up and began to pick up speed.
He felt strong auras locking onto the spatial distortion but only to scan it. The wind began to pick up as he felt a rumble beneath his feet.
"Hmmm, I will need to work on the shock absorbers or dissipate it somehow." He was analyzing the maiden voyage while keeping an eye on the stone flowing by until the city came into view.
The spatial tunnel was a safe option as it did no damage to its surroundings. It temporarily displaced the area it occupied without endangering anyone. He chose it for that very option after learning about it from the experts in the city.
Eventually, detecting the ship, he felt figures flying over on their own artifacts but the one he feared to react was the council.
They were a greedy bunch and had no respect for independent craftsmen hoarding knowledge to teach only their chosen disciples. He knew that and still chose the city as it was a safe haven to grow his professions to the level he needed.
[HALT! YOU WILL–] The 3 Apprentice Tiers tried to lock down the area only to find the spatial tunnel was above them! Lind smiled as he waved at them. Their confusion was clear and no one recognized him at first until a woman paled and pointed at him.
[L–L–Lind Frey!] He flashed a smile as a new rumble came from the lower decks.
[It has been a pleasure learning from my seniors. I hope you all enjoy what I made for many of you. Good bye.] Before they could coordinate, a field stretched over the entire ship before a massive blast came from the stern.
The entire ship rocketed skyward far faster than anyone could follow! Some tried to tear through space only to find the spatial tunnel was disrupting their senses! It distorted relative coordinates until it was gone and another reason for Lind to use it.
If the council or others had worked together quickly, he would have had to fight his way free but the thrusters worked faster than expected.
The ship suddenly slowed and he frowned as he recognized a safety mechanism taking them out of the high speed thrust. Acrid smells reached his sharp nose before he sighed.
"Capacitors fried, huh, I will have to fix that." He was calm as they were far from the city. The sails captured the various flows of power in the air and began sailing at a good clip as he swung the hatch open to the control room.
Gaia was at the helm which looked more in place in a submarine than a surface boat.
Karu was at a panel and frowning as red lights flicked on the jade display.
"Three of the 6 capacitors blew out entirely while the other 3 are fractured." Ouch but not outside his expectations.
"I will fix them but are we good otherwise?" She shook her head and pointed at the flowing data.
"Half the systems show signs of strain from the thrust speed. It is far more than we expected." Lind glanced it over and nodded that he had some work ahead but it was flying.
"I can fix it while enroute. Gaia, set course for the Western Lament's main island." Lind smiled as now he was no longer restricted by teleportation arrays and the Bastard could scan all he wanted, he would never find them as the heart of the boat was made of his harmonic crystals.
The journey to grow stronger was back on track and he had a lot of catching up to do.
