Chapter 1600 - 1599 - Heirarchy
The entire platform had heard the dead man swear to Heaven and Earth what he saw. They all had. So now that an elder of the sect had killed him, it only sealed the truth in their hearts but so what?
So what if the Victory Sect had just been confirmed to be a party to the wanton slaughter of a village? At that moment, the strongest person was only an Apprentice Tier to the Journeyman Tier elder!
If the older man said the sky was pink then the thrice spirit cursed sky was pink!
"It would seem we have criminals among us. We lost contact with–" Whatever the older man had been about to say was cut short as pressure from the Heavens changed drastically! Black clouds boiled above and it was not a tribulation.
[Retribution.] Lind's voice was heard by all and the Heavens answered.
That was right! A True Lord had just been interrupted!
There were consequences regardless of their realm if they were acknowledged by the Divine Lands. Considering the effect it had on both the dead man and them, the True Lord was clearly acknowledged!
Lightning slammed into the elder. The older man tried to dodge but it was like the Heavens were not letting him go until he was struck!
"How dare you?! I am your superior! You damned beast! You live at our whim–" Emerald light slammed into the man suddenly. No one recognized what was happening but black steam suddenly came off the older man and his robes burned a hole at his waist as dark metal objects reacted.
[Fiend agent!] None knew for certain until the vile feeling of the mist became thicker! Lightning finally slammed into the older man.
His previously darker hair with gray streaks was instantly accelerated! His robust body was withered by time moving so fast all were shocked! His aura, once dominating, was stripped away from him!
"NO! You filthy mongrel! How dare you defy my sect?!" Lind looked on coldly without moving as emerald scales covered his body and all saw flames build up in his throat.
[Tell your masters when they claim your soul, I am coming!] Emerald flames shot like a beam and oddly no one felt danger but when it hit the Journeyman Tier elder, his screams mixed with something otherworldly.
Black mist flew off his body like a fog before the emerald flames consumed that too.
Once it was over, the skies cleared and the imposing Authority was retracted. Lind felt dizzy for a moment but also some of his vitality came back. That elder had been twisted beyond anything he had faced thus far.
"You–you killed Elder Su! He is the vice sect master!" Lind did not care but it made his next steps clear.
"You heard everything and I hid nothing. Who is the highest authority here?" The group of demons and humans blanched as the answer would normally be the Victory Sect. Lind saw it in their faces.
"The Eternal Flame Guild, lad. They would be the highest authority." Misham made them all jump but his face looked like it too had aged in the last few moments. Karu stared at Lind as if she had never seen him before.
That confused him but he did not have time. The fact the Victory Sect set an elder to keep an eye on the teleportation array spoke volumes. Further, the soul slate, candle, or whatever they used to track their upper echelons would already tell them the man was dead if not by who.
The Fiend twist may not mean anything. An agent can act on any mission while greed binds all lives to horrific paths.
"Can someone contact them for an emergency?" A woman with dark green hair suddenly nodded and moved to a wall by the teleportation array controls. She pressed against a slab that then had a cauldron surrounded by flames appear on it.
Nothing else was done but Lind felt it. Space was torn open and an older woman with silver and blonde hair arrived. Her face was narrow and her skin showed it had been under the sun for a long time.
Her eyes were dark gray as she took in the corpses as well as the disturbed nature of the group in general.
All bowed to her in respect as she was a peak Journeyman Tier.
"You used the emergency summons. I assumed someone was hurt but they appear to be dead. Explain quickly or you will be treated as murderers." Lind stepped forward at that point.
He looked at her and she seemed to realize he was not human very quickly.
"I swear before Heaven and Earth all I am about to say is the absolute truth–" Lind explained how he had been guided by Misham to the nearest teleportation array only to find the village poisoned and empty of anyone.
He outlined how he was able to find the coordinates of the last teleportation and found a worker that knew something and just after he confirmed what he knew, an elder of the Victory Sect murdered him.
He then demonstrated his Authority in a minor way to confirm the last part of how Heavenly Wrath was called down as well as discovering the man was a Fiend agent. The remains of his Fiend artifacts proved that easily enough even in their ruined state.
The woman's burnt orange robes swished as she examined both the dead human and the withered remains of the elder. She confirmed the man was indeed not killed by anyone present.
She knew Elder Su's aura so that was confirmed. She also confirmed the wrecked Fiend artifacts but she had never seen them neutralized as they were now. The faint traces were all that remained and they were essentially inert garbage.
The damaged state of elder Su's body corresponded to what would happen when a Fiend drained it but she felt the profound power of Heavenly lightning as she had been told she would.
She quickly summoned a bright red jade crystal and crushed it.
Not long after, a much more powerful aura swept the teleportation array and another woman appeared but she was much older.
Her limbs were thinner and the white hair was faint on her skull but the power was far more than any being Lind had ever encountered, including the leviathans and krakens!
Peak Master Tier!
Her milky eyes took everything in but locked on to him.
"A dragon True Lord I do not know. What trouble have you brought to us?" Before Lind could answer, several more powerful auras were now closing in. He pondered why they had not torn through space but the old woman sneered as she merely flicked a finger.
Shouts could be heard mentally as 5 figures in white and red robes were slammed into the teleportation array.
"You will be quiet while the adults are talking or I will happily cripple all of you." The elders of the Victory Sect seemed about to truly be fools but held it down. Suddenly one of the women from the Night Stream Guild pointed at a blonde haired man trying to rise.
"That is Lord Zhu!" The woman pointed at him and Lind's eyes lit up! He did not move as he conveyed via Oath once more what he had learned and the other woman from her sect confirmed her analysis.
The old woman closed her eyes in pain.
"The Sylvan Alchemy Guild lost their protectors. They both faded." Lind suspected it might be that. "They were such a kind group but they were powerful and rich. They rested on the protection of their ancestors too much and paid for their complacency with their lives."
Misham looked lost at that revelation but then she turned with a cold eye to the 5 squirming people.
"Lady Wan, surely you do not simply take the word off filthy beasts over our long–" Lord Zhu was speaking but one of his arms suddenly broke.
"Did I not warn you? The adults are speaking. A True Lord is far above you in the pecking order. Further, if you think I do not smell that nasty paste lingering on you, then think again." Lind took a sniff and there was a discordant scent just barely on Lord Zhu and another man with dark hair as well.
He quickly ran it through his knowledge and understanding came to him.
"A paste to block your pores made of ancient gold sap mixed with some kind of fruit I do not know and fiery worm wort." The 2 women locked onto him with sudden interest but Lind understood what had happened even more.
"You didn't give the paste to the traitors. They had no idea they were dying until it was too late. You killed an entire village for resources and materials! WHY?!" The Heavens rumbled once more but it was not their wrath that came.
Lind looked up and emerald clouds gathered. The Master Tier did nothing to stop him as she found it fascinating.
The 5 figures tried to flee but she held them in place with ease.
"In your next lives, assuming you have them, maybe understand that being superior does not make you immune from consequences." The old woman spoke as Lind raised his arm up and then the Storm of Defiance was unleashed!
Emerald lightning struck the men but no damage happened to their surroundings, only themselves! A force that nothing could seem to stop ripped past all protective talismans, treasures, and their robes as if they were paper!
Zhu screamed as his meridians overloaded but the other man with dark hair began to emit black mist. Lind's eyes narrowed as feedback came to him.
"Sacrifical cultivation, cauldrons, and other vile practices. You needed the resources to try and save your pathetic lives!" His words made all disdain them. Lind felt the world dim and he knew he was out of gas.
The thriving storm suddenly dispersed as he fell to his knees.
Three of the 5 were still alive. The dark haired man met the same fate as Elder Su, but the other that died was a woman with dark pink hair. The storm, like his Art, restored what was distorted. She had extended her life by stealing it from others via other means that Fiends.
In other words, his storm had put her back to what she should have been. The final 3 were in worse shape. Lord Zhu was crippled.
He was a poison master that had hidden it well. He had transformed his body into a living repository of many poisons that were set loose inside him without any control.
The final 2 were cauldron users. Their foundations were barely enough to become Journeyman Tiers but now the imbalance had been swung back and they fell back to Immortals!
In front of Lind, faulty techniques, short cuts, or abuse of other living beings was the worst match up. Still, he had nothing left. The back to back confrontations left him with absolutely nothing at all.
The old woman seemed to send a message to someone and Lind felt a massive explosion of power far to the north.
"The Victory Sect will be no more before the day is out. Young Shira, take our guests to some quarters to recover. I will have to report this." The other woman bowed but darkness was closing in on Lind. He could no longer hold on but he had accomplished his goal far faster than he expected.
The village was avenged.
