Chapter 1574 - 1573 - Outclassed
Chapter 1574 - 1573 - Outclassed
Lind had seen the terrifying power of Sovereign Tiers to reshape the 4th layer to their will. That alone had been bad enough but when they fought, it was like the clash of their wills obliterated entirely everything in range.
Still, other Immortals could contain that power if they worked together. They also had to be Sovereign Tiers, but they could do it!
His tournament had been unique in that he was able to erect barriers that could allow them to go full force without worrying about the surroundings.
Lind had forgotten a warning from Haro in his rush to defend the red stone. Divine Realm cultivators were not held to any standard like the other cultivation realms.
The Mysteries they condensed would vary wildly compared to another person. No one was the same and the depth of their comprehension would result in power unlike any other or just barely cross the line to advance.
He had gotten lucky with his last attacks and ambushes. He had caught them off guard and the effectiveness of his power had made him fall back into the mindset that his harmony gave him an edge.
All of it led to his mistake. He launched himself at the 3 Journeyman Tiers with the intention to protect the island. He conjured his Arts and all the power he had adapted to his Life and Death layers.
The cultists had 2 Wild Demons while the faction had a human man with salt and pepper hair. All 3 turned in unison upon him but only 1 of the demons came at him.
Lind thought he could fight him off but he was flung aside like so much debris in the wind! His blood surged out of him as his organs shattered. He felt pain at levels he had never known existed.
He had vastly misunderstood how his soul had fused with his body. The pain was unlike anything he had grasped in his long life!
He tumbled and crashed through trees. His bones snapped like twigs. He could not even perceive what happened. It was like he was an ant facing a boot!
The demon sneered but emerald flames suddenly flared around Lind. His body was restored so quickly it shocked even him!
[MASTER! Your Mysteries aid you but you are too weak! That demon is far more powerful than you! Both of them are!] Haro's voice boomed in his head but it was too late to pull back.
Lind summoned his Dao weapon. That made all 3 focus on him in shock. It was something he noticed. None of the Divine Realm cultivators had yet conjured something similar. Haro had told him it was rare but now he had faced almost a dozen Divine Realm cultivators but none had summoned a weapon to defend themselves.
The Wild Demon looked back at his companion and even the human from the faction paused.
"Junior, you are powerful, but you have chosen wrongly in ignorance. You are ascended?" Lind was shocked. All 3 just stopped and seemed to agree to ask him that question as the Wild Demon looked at him.
He was confused.
[Master, anyone that can conjure a Dao Weapon is valued. They will try to lure you over but in this instance–] He did not need the rest. Death was the only outcome.
The cultists did not know who he was yet but when they did, they would kill him without a thought. The Unbending Fate Faction was also antithetical to his own values. They would also deny him when they learned he was a dragon.
He smiled at them as he pulled on everything the staff could do!
Celestial Qi suddenly answered his call in a density he had never felt in the last few centuries! Demonic and natural Qi danced to his whim as his Nodes flowed with power!
The staff flared as he moved despite his injuries. His body was healing fast, yet he was slowed. The Wild Demon sneered with his cobalt eyes as well as his mouth. Lind saw a flare of power but the staff cleaved through it like a hot knife through butter.
It struck the jaw of the demon while shattering his horns. The other 2 Journeyman Tiers attacked at that moment yet Lind tore through space. He just barely escaped as the area he had been in was turned into nothing!
Not vaporized, disintegrated, nor obliterated. The very area the Wild Demon and he had been in ceased to be!
He had never felt anything like it but the more shocking thing was that the Wild Demon seemed to shrug it off!
How was that possible?!
Lind had no time to ponder as the other Wild Demon joined with the first. Both demons were coming after him!
He tried to tear through space but it was like the local area had become as solid as a mountain! He shifted by his draconic abilities to move aside as both demons tried to kill him.
The older man from the faction then tried to strike him down with a terrifying spear. The 3 were now working together. It was ornate with gold decoration on top of silvery metal. Lind used his arm to ward it with scales covering his skin.
His arm was sliced in half like it was nothing!
Lind wanted to regenerate, but the Wild Demons took no chances.
They seared his body with demonic lightning and flames!
Pain seared through his entire being! He was fading away but emerald flames rose like a storm. His body was restored as if nothing had happened!
Lind did not understand but the 3 against him also froze. They did not seem to accept his survival but he took their opening for what it was worth.
His staff whirled so fast that the world seemed to spin on it. He struck one of the Wild Demons and their defenses failed them. He broke their bones and shattered their organs, yet they healed back to their peak as if nothing had occurred.
Lind only then grasped how outclassed he was compared to his foes. He might be able to hurt them but if they could simply recover from any strike, it was essentially pointless.
The 2 Wild Demons attacked him with pure Arts and he could not stop them at all!
He survived but only just. His broken body snapped with a loud popping sound as his healing asserted itself as he stood up. Blood covered his robes and the ground as he stood up.
The fact his body stood up so well spoke to the effort he put into rebuilding it so long ago, yet it had limits. He could tell they were going to kill him with ease as they struck once more.
[MASTER!] Haro tried to appear but Lind stopped him. Now that he was a Divine Realm cultivator, he could stop his ring spirit completely. Lind slowly stood up in the rags of his robs and blood covering him as he looked up at the 3 people ready to destroy him.
The demons sneered as the human looked at him coldly. Lind looked at them and finally understood the chasm of power between him and the next tier. It was not just a leap, it was a mountain move in one go!
Still, people were people.
"You are indeed powerful. I have no doubt your respective powers value you, but you have made 1 mistake." The 3 people looked at him coldly. They were simply letting him say his final words.
Lind coughed up blood and smiled at them.
"Where are we?" Confusion flared until the gritty sound of his steps made their heads snap down to his feet. The grainy beach was beneath them all!
Horror flashed before white tentacles shot out and snapped up all 3 Journeyman Tier foes at once! Their screams and powers were silenced so quickly that Lind blinked before realizing he was alive! There were still Immortals from the cultists to deal with but even in his fragile state, they were nothing to him.
Haro finally appeared with his own shocked face.
"Can you take care of the rest?" The bald man nodded but then smiled as he vanished. The island was small enough for Haro to go anywhere. The sounds of battle were quickly silenced as Lind carefully sat down.
His body felt like everything was broken and it was a miracle he was awake. He was about to lie down when he felt it.
He slowly looked back and a tentacle hovered near him.
"Senior, I apologize for my weakness." He had not been able to do a thing but make himself a focus to the point they forgot the danger they were in. It was a mental victory but a victory nonetheless.
[Acceptable.] The tentacle retracted into the waves. Lind had not felt danger but it was clear the kraken had been tempted to kill him despite the oaths. It only solidified his suspicions but he dared not speak them aloud.
He doubted he would live past the first syllable of his guess.
He lay down and let his body heal as best it could. As his meridians and other parts recovered, the regeneration increased as well. He still had several blanks left about the island, but what everyone was after was finally clear.
They were after the kraken's child.
