Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1561 - 1560 - Defiance

Chapter 1561 - 1560 - Defiance

Lind thought he understood what it meant to be a True Lord. He had to pass trials, grasp the essence of what his race meant, and be acknowledged by Heaven and Earth. Once that happened, he would be bestowed with vitality to use Authority to bring balance in the Immortal Realm.

Immortals were relatively equal but beasts were vastly outgunned by humans and demons. Aether children and Elementals could live in peace with them, but the other 2 were actively hunting beasts.

True Lords leveled that playing field with a quality quantity could not be overcome.

It also kept the beasts in check from pushing the other races too far. The various clans could cause their own extinction unless a True Lord stopped them.

Lind had been a mediator, punisher, and even a beacon of hope but he had not truly tried to rule the clans.

The beings he faced had. They were ruthless and unforgiving of weakness in him. He killed some easily while others were sly.

A Ryuu could shift from one dimension to another before he could perceive them but he struck them down with his instinct to live. A massive Fire Dragon with wings that blocked the sky acted as a decoy for 3 others that easily pierced his body.

If not for his insane resilience, he would have died to that one.

Lind was in deep trouble but he refused to bend. He was the current True Lord, not them!

His emerald eyes flared as his hair began to move. He engraved sigils into the air once more and attacked with all he was worth!

The weavings completed and shapes appeared to defend and attack! Domes and shields would appear to stop the claws of his foes while weapons complement his Dao Weapon to strike back.

His stamina was being drained at a terrifying rate but he just kept killing his foes. Dragons screamed and roared in equal measure until a new aura slammed into him.

It brought him to his knees and the remaining True Lords were dispersed! He slowly looked up to see a massive golden dragon with wings that engulfed the entirety of the 4th layer. It had 6 horns on its head and raised ridges along its backside.

It also had 5 limbs! The claws were silver and Lind felt his bloodline actually quiver for the first time.

"What are you?!" The golden orbs narrowed as the power of something was thrown at him. It was not Dao but something else.

Lind pulled on all his power and ability. His Dao Weapon staff grew in size and only barely grazed the feeling he had. His body spasmed in shock but he did not bend to it. He roared as he shoved it aside.

He fell to his knees as the massive dragon loomed over him.

He was at its mercy but it seemed to acknowledge him.

[Live on, True Lord.] The words surprised him before the black clouds dispersed the figure.

Lind was at the end of his rope. He had bottomed out after that round! Yet, the Heavens did not grant him time.

Emerald clouds appeared! He knew what was coming.

If the True Lord Tribulation was turned into a round, so would the Progenitor one!

Unlike before, there were no dragons but actual lightning gathering. The first of his kind and he had to affirm his existence. Anger flared in him as he slowly stood up.

He glared at the Heavens and his Authority answered his call.

All 9 bolts of lightning tried to extinguish him at once! Emerald flames left his throat as he commanded the air to slow them down. His vitality drained at an insane pace but he would not yield!

The power still got to him but it was so weak that he barely felt it.

Attack, weapon, elements, Law/Daos, True Lord, and Progenitor rounds passed! Only 3 remained but what was left?

The worst seemed behind him but then the clouds all became prismatic. A familiar power appeared and he had no idea what to do!

Harmonies! It was all harmonies!

He had no tricks or any idea what to do to buy him time. Any elemental Art or other attempt would just result in his death. He glared at the clouds and a new feeling seemed to fuel him.

"To blazes with you!" His harmony flared but he had little hope of it doing a damned thing.

Even so, he did not stop fighting! The power of harmonies flared and he felt, for the first time, the terror of their power.

Even something as benign as the Harmony of Love, could sway his mind to simply accept death. He truly had had no idea of the terror of 6 elementals until that moment. His harmony was far more powerful than any had known, even Kexin with her Harmony of Domination lagged behind him.

The Dao of Defiance shattered many of the harmonies, but not all of them. He only realized at that moment that some were unfamiliar to him!

Their power was terrifying but he had never encountered them before! He was nearly shattered right then but barely held on. He was grasping the cliff with his fingertips at that moment when the round wrapped up.

His pale face and blood streaming revealed how weak he was.

He had nearly been destroyed by that last round yet it was not over! He felt it! The previous rounds were dwarfed by what he felt in the black clouds.

What was coming next? Only 2 rounds remained but he was mystified as to what they could be.

There was nothing left he could think of after the previous rounds but the black clouds shifted once more. A horrifying level of Death Dao filled them as they became so dark it was nearly impossible to separate them.

What was going on?! He had already faced the Dao of Death! Yet, the power he felt from the clouds made him shiver in terror.

It was not simply Dao he was facing! His harmony flared but it was like glass before a hammer!

He was being erased at that moment but at the very edge of oblivion, his emerald eyes flared and he roared.

He refused! He would defy the Heavens if they tried to erase him!

His Dao answered his call as his essence held on. His body was nearly destroyed but the round ended with him winning!

He was barely intact and his soul was on the brink of collapse but he was alive!

He had no idea what else could be thrown at him but then the clouds became gold! He felt his newly fused essence respond and terror filled him. He had not yet explored his essence of the phoenix but now he would be confronted with it at the end!

Lightning was the least of his concerns as his body was ripped to shreds! Only his soul remained but then his body was rebuilt and it started all over again!

Death, rebirth, and repeat! He felt his mind slipping away once more but his harmony flared and refused to accept the end!

Unlike all the previous rounds, the golden color did not fade until the 5th cycle of the round. Even then, it almost seemed like the Heavens were holding back.

Lind knew it was not so simple. The phoenix ability to be reborn from the ashes was natural but he has stolen that essence for himself! He had faced rituals that sped up his comprehension and understanding.

Yet, the final round of the tribulation showed him he was a naive fool. As the power increased, he realized he could have grasped far more of his Dao. He felt the tribulation trying to judge him like a phoenix but his harmony flared to stop it.

He was not a phoenix, but a dragon. He had taken in the essence but he would not be changed by it!

He would make it a part of himself not the other way around! His harmony and Dao flared! The golden clouds above seemed to grow in strength but his will would not bend! He was not going to be dictated to!

Lightning began to dance around him yet he remained firm!

He was the one that crafted his path and no other! The tug of war became all he knew. The tribulation was trying to change him on a fundamental level but Lind refused!

He had chosen his path and he would not let others dictate it! The tribulation tried once more to shift him from his path but he refused! His body was destroyed and rebuilt once more! It was going to keep going but he did not yield!

He was going to ascend as he was or not at all! Pain lanced over all of his existence but he did not give in.

His emerald eyes locked on the clouds and were full of unbreakable will. He would not bend to the needs of Heaven and Earth!

The rampant power finally calmed down and Lind was left collapsed on the ground. He had lived!

He had made it! He was so happy to proceed to the next step he missed the black clouds gathering strength.

He only noticed at the last moment as bright green lightning slammed into him and he vanished from all that could sense him! The Celestial Fields were snapped away and he had no idea what had happened to him!
