Chapter 1490 - 1489 - Dull
Chapter 1490 - 1489 - Dull
Lind felt like a great many heavy objects had been dropped on his head. Then, for good measure, they were used to beat him to death.
He could recall his worst hangover after he turned 21, actually he could not really recall it as it would negate the point of a hangover, but the fog he had been in and sore feeling was the worst experience until he woke up after his fight with the Immortal Berserker.
It had been 3 weeks, which seemed beyond any estimation he had thought of in the back of his mind, but his Mother had told him the 2 True Lords had come as he had requested.
It had been bad, very bad. Her cold green eyes had bored into him with no mercy as she seemed to loom over him like a vengeful God. He had known she was grieving Cyntilla and then nearly lost him.
He had tried to imagine it but his imagination fell far short of the horrific reality. He was a powerful dragon, a True Lord, and a peak mid tier Sovereign Tier, yet he felt like he was a little boy all over again.
It did not help that she had reinforcements. His wives, children, and half the Harmonic Dragons joined in to give him a piece of their mind!
If not for the fact he was truly exhausted and almost passed out, it would likely still be going on! He was now in his own bed and told, rather ordered, to stay there.
He could not defy them despite any wish to do so. He was left alone, in his rooms, and the tournament results, the auction, and all the rest just fell away.
Time was finally given to him to simply be. Tears fell quietly but inside, it was a storm. Pain should have been burying him, yet he felt like everything was distant. The colors, once so vibrant to his eyes, lost their luster.
He had felt it before, the deep grief of losing his children, but he had avenged them. He had been able to process it in part. It still hurt, but for some reason, Cyntilla was different.
The pain was more vivid and heavier on his heart. Why? His children had been killed and he had ripped apart the world to make his pain sated, but Cyntilla just left him lethargic.
It was like the light had gone out of the world. All the conviction he had felt before the battle just left him.
Was he so fickle?
Haro and the other 2 spirits were still tied up with the tribulation. It was terrifying from what he had heard and was nearly at the climax. He had many questions but they felt so unimportant.
Jade slips and scrolls with information sat unread in front of him. He just could not muster an iota of curiosity.
"I am pathetic, aren't I? You would slap me upside the head." His hoarse voice filled the room too much. It violated the silence he had built up.
His mind conjured a perfect image of a stern Cyntilla frowning at him. Her hands were a little too close to her short swords.
He felt fresh tears flow down his cheeks.
He simply let his memories wash over him again but now they were bittersweet. He indulged his grief until his eyes narrowed.
"I am not in the mood to entertain today." The corner to his right shimmered as a familiar woman appeared.
It was the blonde from when he reincarnated. She looked sadly at him but also stern. She also seemed hollow. A projection?
Her simple white robes were cinched with a golden cord at her waist but he felt like her pale blue eyes were far too real.
"I apologize. I did not know what happened until I arrived. I do not–" Lind was tired. Tired of interference. Tired of the Divine Realm pushing him around. Mostly, he just wanted all of it to go away.
His soul was too weak but his True Lord aura worked just fine. It flared to fill the room and she became quiet.
"I was sent by the leaders of our faction. I have to obey. It is the worst timing but I have to be here." He suddenly wondered what would happen if he shattered his dantian. As if hearing his thoughts, she was suddenly holding his arms firmly.
Despite his physical power, he could not move a millimeter. He looked at her harshly and was silent. He would not indulge her anymore.
She sighed before sitting on the edge of his bed. He noted the mattress did not respond at all. She really was a projection.
She had no mass. Yet, she was able to restrain him. Such power was interesting but he had no desire to learn more.
"Go away." He closed his eyes and lay back on his bed. He ignored her but her presence could not be ignored.
It was not like he could make her do anything she did not want to.
"You used a power far beyond this world's ability to withstand. We have to talk about it." Lind almost snapped. He had pushed his limits and that qualified for her to visit?!
"I said it already, go away." He had no tolerance for anyone at the moment. Yet, he was suddenly lifted into the air as if he was a doll!
He looked calmly down at the enraged woman. He could not even summon his anger.
"I know you are in pain, but death is but a part of–" The room changed as a ghostly image of a massive dragon appeared behind him. Lind had learned that there was more to Dao than he had imagined but he had no control of his reflexes.
For some reason, the woman was pushed back but Lind did not care. His distance from his emotions actually focused him.
The dull connection to the world made things distant. He had no need to understand as he simply reacted. His soul and body were fine yet the woman from the Divine Realm was pushed back by something.
"Stop it! You will kill yourself!" Her words focused him. He looked within and indeed saw his body was being stained. His soul was on the verge of damage once more.
He did not care. He just wanted to make his intruder leave.
She clearly tried to do something but his aura shattered it before it began. Shock flooded her face before a familiar presence pushed him back.
A gangly figure with dark gold skin and black eyes appeared!
"You are wasting time." The figure actually made Lind focus. He had not seen that being since he had piloted the mobile suit. He had been human then.
"I am trying to explain to him but his control has become on par with mine." The alien figure looked surprised before examining the room.
His narrow head then focused on Lind and surprise bloomed on his face.
"You? You have come so far? How?" Lind wanted to simply reject him but the karma between them was clear in his mind. He had kept his promise to protect Ethry.
Lind sighed before relaying a very concise explanation of his current status. He also explained the limits he had explored in his latest battle. The alien man slowly nodded but became grim.
"Such power is very dangerous in the Celestial Fields. What you have done–" Lind suddenly found his body full of power.
"What I have done?! I was unable to save my wife! I could not stop her from dying right in front of me and the spirits of Heaven and Earth only ensured she could be reborn! I then focused on fighting a madman to True Death! I do not care one whit about what I pulled off!" His rage and grief mixed and granted him more power than normal.
The 2 Divine Realms were pushed back to their shock as Lind stood up. The fight seemed to be at an impasse when the door was shattered. An irate woman with dark green eyes walked in and the 3 people flinched.
"I suppose an explanation is needed but I do not care. You 2 will leave right now or so help me, I will tan your hides." Mira Frey was like a wrathful God that pierced the lethargy of Lind's indifference.
The trio were far more powerful than her but in that moment they were fearful of her.
The 2 Divine Realm projections tried to explain but due to the restrictions of Heaven and Earth, they could not do much. Lind then tried and the pair of eyes pierced him like a spear to the heart.
She took over the room and Lind was forced to stop being stubborn. He tried to say he just wanted time but she was hearing none of it.
As the argument progressed, at some point, Lind realized he felt more invigorated than before. He felt like his mind and soul could take a step forward, but he first had to stop his mother from berating him!
