Chapter 1475 - 1474 - Balance Breaker
Chapter 1475 - 1474 - Balance Breaker
The fight between Cyntilla and Chu left the arena shaking as the audience roared. Even the normally tame VIP suites were going wild. The fact Chu did not lose her body only spoke to her resilience and the skills of the arena healers.
Lind wondered how they would feel if the mighty warrior they had just witnessed was currently in the fetal position as his Mother lectured her. He had dropped in as his skills might have been needed but Mira had it well under control.
She had told him, rather coldly, to get out so she could do her job properly.
The fact she had already healed Chu's body meant a lecture was forthcoming. It might seem contradictory, but the mother of her beloved held a higher power even though Lind was stronger than both.
He also did not run away from the healing ward, merely walked briskly.
The fights that followed seemed to try and emulate the titanic struggle but while they remained impressive, the spectacle could not compare. Still, Lind found they were all very powerful figures.
There were only 2 deaths thus far and no true deaths. The 2 souls were currently being cared for as new bodies were researched per the agreement he made with the various powers. While any Sovereign Tier should be prepared to make a new body if needed, some would still need key materials to succeed.
The red segment resolved safely after that. The blue segment was far more cautious. Seeing that they could lose their bodies and true death was much closer than they had expected.
It made their battles drag on to the point boos began to flow like a river from the audience. Thankfully, Lind had accounted for that tactic. Dragging on fights forever was necessary outside of a tournament to live, but inside one, it was about moving things along at some point.
[There is now a one week warning in effect. If you have not defeated your opponent, your conditions will be evaluated to determine the victor.]
The judges made the announcement and the battles finally kicked into gear.
Happiness returned as blood flew or a slug fest began depending on the battle expertise of the duels. That contingency made the following fights go faster as the rulings were quite harsh.
It was not just about damage, but the ultimate condition of the cultivator. For instance, a golden lion had suffered a lot of physical damage but his dantian was brimming with power as well as no sign of weakness while his human opponent was not as injured externally but his dantian was drained.
He had nothing left to give at the point the fight was called. Thus, he lost.
Such a realization made the rest of the blue segment duels much more dynamic and exciting.
Lind laughed as it was not that bad but at least it was more entertaining.
"Hmm, those are fairly young Sovereigns overall. I think I know most of them and the youngest is 5 million years old." Dea Arc spoke up and Lind flinched. While his age was not exactly known, even given some time dilation, was not even at a million.
He was getting there but he was extremely fast for a cultivator. Most Immortals took millions of years to become a Sovereign Tier. It was considered fantastic to do so in under a million years.
Lind's family and contemporaries were so shocking in part because of their legendary progress. It was not just his bloodline but those that took his foundational ideas to heart. The 6 elementals were just insane but he had another theory.
Heaven and Earth were fair. The complete and total disruption caused by the Fiends made an imbalance so massive that talented cultivators were flooding the realms.
He had already started to hear of a slow down but he believed it was more a return to normal. There would still be insane talents but not in the numbers they were currently experiencing.
The blue segment finally concluded after almost a year. His segment began and the very first up was the Immortal Berserker. Lind worried about the Frozen Immortal but the nearly solid blue man looked impervious to any words.
His eyes were closed and the world seemed to slow around him.
"An interesting matchup. I know the Frozen Immortal of old. It was said he nearly died in a frozen waste only pure ice beasts or physiques could live in. A secret realm rather than in an Inheritance or Ruin." Dea was knowledgeable but Lind had heard the same.
The secret realm was supposedly a dual existence with another realm that was the epitome of heat. He wondered where the entrances were but he was far beyond the known location as a Sovereign Tier.
Surviving such an extreme place was not an easy feat. His experienced eyes could tell it was not a physique too. The man seemed to have touched on the Dao to survive.
Lind was nearly certain as only a deep scan could confirm it. That would be beyond rude as well as a violation of the rules in the current tournament.
The pair faced each other but Lind narrowed his eyes as he noticed the Berserker. He had not pulled out his swords. Not a single weapon had been removed but he had done so for previous fights.
What was going on?
[Begin!] The judge dropped their arm and hopped back but neither man moved. The 2 other fights were far more exciting as the yellow segment felt more comfortable after watching the first 3, but the singular pair stood out for doing nothing.
Lind summoned a display to check his weavings but they were not reacting to a thing. It was not a subtle attack from either one.
His harmony suddenly flared as a smile crossed the Berserker's pale face.
"You are strong but we are a bad match. Withdraw, or you will be the first True Death of the tournament." His words were clear to all and silence descended in the stadium seats. Lind felt his harmony jump again.
It only took him a moment to grasp what was about to happen. He quickly infused his elemental nodes into his weavings!
"What are you–?" Dea noticed his panicked moves but he had no time to explain as a pressure descended on the entire arena. The Heavens rumbled as the disturbance grew quickly while the weavings strained to contain it.
Blood flowed from Lind's mouth, eyes, nose, and ears. He was only just able to contain the damn Dao!
The Frozen Immortal also summoned a Dao. His eyes snapped open and a realm of ice was behind them! The temperature plummeted and formed a partial dome around their platform.
A crazed smile spread on the Berserker's face.
"I accept you! I will remember you!" A crimson fog flew from his body but that was all. Lind felt the rules of the world shift suddenly!
{EMERGENCY PROTOCOLS ACTIVATED!}
A distorted voice suddenly spoke and pseudo Dao weavings appeared! Qi, Laws, and resources were consumed at the level of an ocean but the instant passed as the auras retracted.
The other 2 fights had stopped but no one cared as the ice dome shattered. A fog slowly cleared to reveal the Immortal Berserker had not moved a centimeter. His robes were tattered but no more than when he entered.
Not even his hair was disturbed.
The Frozen Immortal, however, was dead, truly dead. His body was withered as if all life had been purged from him but then it began to fall apart into ice crystals.
His dantian had been destroyed with his soul.
The judges quickly descended and scanned the disintegrating body. Shock was clear on their faces at the results but Lind was downing elixirs.
His soul was not made worse, thankfully, but his body had been ravaged by the backlash.
[The Frozen Immortal has been truly killed. His soul was destroyed–by Dao.] The words caused a murmur to spread and the VIP suites were deadly silent. Legends and rumors had been known about the Immortal Berserker for at least 10 million years.
No one knew where he came from or how he became so powerful with such broken weapons but the truth was now confirmed. He did not just touch Dao, he controlled it!
[Winner by True Death: Immortal Berserker!] No clapping broke out nor cheers. The terror of the Immortal Berserker was on full display. He then looked up as if he sensed the location of the source broadcast.
[I am in a good mood so listen well! If you do not want to share the Frozen Immortal's fate, surrender. I am in a hurry so stop wasting time! I will remember everyone that prevented my fight with Lind Frey!]
That declaration finally made a reaction in the crowd. They recalled how powerful Lind Frey was and how decisive. They also recalled that he too controlled Dao!
The whole reason the tournament could be held was because of that fact! There were 2 Immortals who could control Dao in the same segment!
A roar finally began to go up and Lind could only sigh.
"That man breaks the world. I knew he was dangerous but the Heavens really should force a tribulation on him." Dea spoke up but Lind laughed before pointing at himself.
"We broke the balance in ourselves before even Heaven and Earth could trigger a tribulation. Now, the bar is so high we have to fumble for it. I suspect he can feel it in his dantian. If he can truly face life and death, he will finally take the last step." Dea became pale as he grasped Lind's words.
His next opponent was as much of a monster as the Immortal Berserker!
