Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1459 - 1458 - Dragon vs Dragon

Chapter 1459 - 1458 - Dragon vs Dragon

Lind knew the official brackets were not rigged but the fact 2 of his wives faced off and now he was facing off against one could not have been totally random.

That, or fate was getting its revenge via an indirect method.

Lind sighed as he looked across the platform. The prismatic robes and hair matched with her beautiful eyes but currently she was smiling like a predator, not his lovely wife.

"Ethry, you seem to be looking forward to this. Is winning in the bedroom not enough?" His remark broke her serious attitude and he took the small victory but her pheromones spiked which told him he was going to regret his jab.

"If I win, you will submit for a year." Lind felt a chill go down his spine. She was not joking. More, despite the shift in the Throne of Defiance, it was more than possible a new clutch of eggs could result.

More children were a happy thing but he knew the tournament was the end of his time as ruling the Throne. He had to leave if he had any hope of finding leads to breakthroughs. Time seemed endless for him but his issue was the Great Bastard.

He would not stop and his plans had nearly collapsed the entirety of their existence to be fuel for his cultivation.

Lind could not put off his advancement to luck or waiting for the Heavens to align for him. He had to actively keep moving but he needed a more peaceful 4th layer to do it!

The tournament was achieving that in many ways, some surprising, but he pushed it aside and became serious as the judge meekly looked between them.

The Harmonic Dragons were powerful but both people before her were Divine Bloodlines and one was her ancestor to boot!

"Ahem, are you ready to begin?" Reading out the rules was pointless for the 2 in front of her. Anyone that thought they would go easy on each other did not understand dragons.

It was not just about pride but about respect.

A truly powerful opponent must be faced with their full power. Lind had several edges normally over anyone but Ethry was different.

The reason he was a dragon was because of her. She had also gained the ability to transform and learn as a human far younger than she should have been able to. She had always been intelligent but her mind had been limited by the natural lifespan of her race.

Dragons took centuries to grow the more profound their bloodline. She was a Divine Bloodline. It should have taken millenia to reach the World Realm with the poor resources available to her.

Lind had changed that drastically. Thus, while his harmony and other aspects gave him far greater power, they were not as effective against her.

She was resistant to his Dao empowered abilities!

No one knew that of course but they would after today. Their platform was too small for what was to come. Beasts had some leeway here as they could request a larger field.

The pair of them had done so.

"We will transform and it will begin at your mark." The judge swiftly bowed and her fiery hair shivered as all her instincts screamed at her to run. Due to the unique pair, 2 other judges had been called in.

One was a phoenix and the other was a serrated shell tortoise. They had sufficient ability to judge as they were ancient Sovereign Tiers. They were too old to participate but they could help in the bothersome issue of the judges being partial to his family or Clan.

Lind grew as Ethry shimmered into her natural shape. Two sinuous dragons appeared. Lind was almost 3 kilometers long at full length. His massive mane of emerald was lighter than his scales but it was the 4 limbs ending in golden claws and the 3 horns on his head that drew awe from the crowd.

There were next to no recordings or documents that had a full description of his draconic abilities but Ethry was different.

She had no limbs but her mane was prismatic and seemed alive with power. Her eyes shimmered with all the elements as streams of energy seemed to dance around her body. Her scales looked like nothing could pierce them.

She was only slightly smaller than Lind but her power seemed higher.

[Once I drop my hand, we will begin.] Neither looked away from each other but their aura was looking. The hand dropped and any words were lost as clouds immediately surrounded Lind.

Storm Arts! They had been witnessed many times in the tournament but the current one was infamous. Emerald lightning! He was starting with his Harmonic Storm?!

Ethry did not even pause as she shot forward. Few could track her movement as the air rumbled with the shockwaves of her pacing. She had broken the sound barrier with only a thought!

Some thought her reckless but none could have predicted that she also brought out a Storm Art! Unlike Lind, hers was made of all 6 elements making platinum lighting!

[DIVINE RYUU STORM!] Her voice thundered in all their heads and the world seemed to bend for the storm's will. The clouds were all made up of elemental Qi!

The platinum lighting took shape as more ryuu dragons! They were as fast as Ethry and ripped apart the Harmonic Storm as if it was nothing. The emerald lightning damaged them but did not stop them.

It took only a few experts some shocked breaths to realize the truth. Ethry could resist his Dao of Defiance!

An Immortal was standing up to Dao with only her Laws!

The Harmonic Storm dispersed as it fell apart but Lind was nowhere to be seen. It was only then that the audience scrambled to find him but Ethry's shimmering eyes shot out beams of light.

The lighting dragons dispersed but became bolts flying across the arena. Finally, they hit something that roared in pain.

Lind was revealed to have been sneaking around the surface to try and sneak attack Ethry. It was an unlikely position to attack as most dragons would assume an attack from above.

Yet, the fallout of her storm had revealed him. His horns lit up and the aura slammed into her. Just pulling on his half step Divine Elemental nodes let Lind free himself of her lighting with ease.

He then had his mane move in myriad easy to engrave thousands of sigils! He was using a weaving in mid-battle?!

Ethry did not just sit there.

Her tail whipped through the air and slammed into his body like a lead weight. He did not stop but blood spurted from his side.

His mane never stopped and the traces finally connected. A flash of light and gravity was altered on the platform. Ethry tried to fly away but went towards him. She and the audience only thought things were reversed but when she dodged left she went straight up!

A ball of flame appeared between his horns as emerald flames built up in his mouth. Shock flooded the dragons and phoenix races as the flame in the horns felt primal. It felt like the origin of all flames!

The 2 flames enjoined as he launched them and the primal flame made his dragon breath a thousand times more dangerous even just viewing it remotely!

Eyes began to cry as they tried to keep looking but it was too much! The Dao was too powerful!

Ethry was the only one that did not look away and the streams of energy thickened around her. She did not know how to evade it so she simply prepared to endure!

Lind was bleeding from his injury and now his mouth smoldered as his own flames had hurt him before he could cut them off.

He flew up after his attack, as if knowing it was not enough despite all that power!

Ethry smiled wide with her maw as prismatic flames shot out but the streams of energy joined in!

[Origin Flame!] Lind's eyes went wide as Ethry's flames transformed. His potential victory was shredded as her once prismatic flames shifted to all colors of flames until a darkness glinting with gold settled.

The first flames were not a raging inferno nor an unstoppable force unleashed into the cosmos. It was a spark in the vast darkness of the primordial times. That spark was how it all began and no flame could stand up to it.

That tiny spark caused his enhanced harmonic breath combined with Primal Dao Fire could not withstand it!

The price paid was high. Ethry fell at first until gravity shifted and she was moved left before shooting up and right. The movements finally clued the audience into what the weaving did.

Gravity had been separated into different segments. It was not a change in direction but like thousands of pocket dimensions all around the fighting stage.

There was not a sliver of borders to be detected so it was a work of art, yet all were looking as Lind tried to evade the final attack. He was far from tired and he could move plenty fast enough but it was like his blood was sluggish.

The Origin Flame was not just the source of fire, but of the races closely tied to it! Dragons, phoenixes, and any beast related to fire would find their power generally lowered. Lind tried to tear through space only to recall that his injuries were not so light.

More blood exploded from his mouth as the dark flame with a tiny sliver of gold slammed into his left side. It was so cold!

Lind then realized that was not it. His nerves were already destroyed! He was losing sensation not feeling cold! The flames were like a tar. He could not remove them and had no choice.

His own upper claws ripped his body away just below his dantian. Blood flowed like rivers but quickly slowed as he invigorated his body's regeneration ability. He fell straight down but did not care as he was already low to the ground.

He was dizzy and hanging on when the thud of a body drew his eye. Ethry was bleeding from several wounds as she had been slammed onto the stone by his gravity sharding weaving.

Her last attack had been all she had so nothing had been left to protect her but the rise and fall of her body gave him relief. She lived.

The judge walked out tentatively with the other 2. They quickly examined Ethry and then looked at him looking back.

[Winner by knockout: Lind Frey!]
