Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1420 - 1419 - I am not a God

Chapter 1420 - 1419 - I am not a God

Lind felt a vein throbbing on his forehead. He was absolutely certain Annabelle and Ethry were too straight faced at the moment as an entire room of dragons were kneeling in front of him.

It was not dragons in human form, which they did not hold to the same standard as their true bodies, but fully sized dragons of all kinds and colors with heads on the stone floor and legs, if they had them, bent.

Wings were folded low and not a single one of them looked up for the last incense stick of time!

He had told them, repeatedly, to get up but not a single one moved!

He looked back at Ethry and the tears flowing down her face made him glare. She was holding back laughter or he would eat his robes!

[Master, I think the issue is you made a Throne specifically for dragons that make a whole new race. Further, you did that as a True Lord and destroyed a fallen clan that had been taken in by Fiends. Combined with your previous support of the lower layer dragon clans and other actions to raise up the race, you have crossed from a True Lord deserving respect to a near Divine Dragon in truth.] Haro, who suspiciously was silent until that moment, was explaining things but Lind narrowed his eyes.

[Where have you been?] Dead silence greeted him. Haro had been enjoying the spectacle too!

[Master is the best!] Abby piped up but Ember was quick to join in.

[It is the least Master deserves!] Unlike his wives and Haro, he could not get angry at them! Despite their relative age, for spirits, they were quite young and inexperienced.

Regardless, he had to resolve this issue to move things along!

He grew exasperated that he had to go so far!

[Arise!] The command reverberated out but oddly it cost him nothing! He narrowed his eyes and confirmed not a single drop of his vitality was taken. Why?

[They have acknowledged you, Master. A simple command or even an Accord with dragons will drastically be cheaper to enact now. It is similar to swearing an Oath to Heaven and Earth between a True Lord and their race once subservience is given.] Haro was now quick to answer as he too had noticed the oddity.

Lind wanted to bang his head against the stellar stone wall! Of all the idiotic things to be told!

It meant every dragon clan in front of him was now beneath his authority! It was not simply about being a True Lord, they had accepted him as above them in their very bones! Even peak Sovereign Tier dragons, one he stood no chance against in a fair fight, were doing that!

What was wrong with them? He had enough on his plate!

"I will say this once and only once. Anyone that decides to defy me will get to see a True Lord angry." His ominous words made a shiver spread in the massive room. The various roosts he had crafted were empty at the moment but the weavings glowed in resonance with his power.

"I am rearing the first generations of my race. I will wait until they become a true race in their own right and then they are on their own like the rest of you. A True Lord is not the leader of all of us. I am chosen by trial and fire to represent you. I stand between you and our enemies but not as the sole leader." A gentle touch on his arm made him glance and see the gold and sapphire he had not seen in so long.

"Beloved, I know you cannot stay, but you have done more for them than has been done in a long time. Dragons have been hunted and scorned, yet you are not. Pride of all sides has caused enmity but you have forged alliances they could not. Is it wrong to acknowledge such a good leader?" Many dragons' eyes narrowed as they realized Annabelle had his ear.

Also the fact she was so comfortable with him made them glance at Ethry as if to say she should step up but before Lind could answer either words or glances, Ethry's aura flared.

"Senior Sister Annabelle is right, Lind. You need to stop looking at yourself as just a wanderer or Clan leader of your family. You are a true progenitor now and have stepped onto the stage you were always going to be a part of. Grasp it." Lind saw the dragons physically flinch at Annabelle's honorific but not any less than he!

Senior Sister was a reference from when they were all family! He was not being asked about things again! It was not the time to address it but his eyes glared holes in Ethry who only smiled sweetly back at him.

He would get them all in a room, ALL of them, and get everything cleared up! Just what had happened after he ascended that they neglected to tell him!

"True Lord, you have proven more than your title but that you are the leader of us all. You challenged the entirety of the powers of the 4th layer and have come out on top!" A dragon with shining golden scales spoke up. He was ancient and at the peak of the Immortal Realm.

His vitality was still strong but Lind could tell it was waning. The body was going to fail in the next 30 to 50 thousand years.

Compared to millions of years, it was nothing but there was still a lot of time left.

"That is yet to be determined. The battles unleashed let the Fiends regain a lot of lost ground despite my efforts to squash them. Further, the negotiations to end this farce will be far worse than any battle. In battle we can kill but in that room we must listen and ply for what we want. You will see that I am far from on top of things." He spoke plain truth.

The other True Lords and he had simply stopped an unending situation that would only end in the Fiends winning. It was why they were allowed to act for rather cheap cost of their vitality.

Heaven and Earth were on their side but the conditions had to be right to use their power like that.

"Despite that, you are the True Lord. You have brought great pride and honor to our race! You dispersed and defeated the Fiends in their plans for the Celestial Fields alone!" A young dragon passionately spoke up.

She had 6 legs with black claws and a spike mane with a tail that was close to a mace. She had no wings but her power was incredible. The 6 limbs also gave her an agility on the ground that most large beasts could not replicate.

Her nearly black scales showed hints of crimson but all blanched as Lind's aura flared.

[Alone? You dare tell me I did it alone?!] His rage filled the room until all the dragons felt it. Then they saw.

They saw a weeping Lind holding a young Hope as she faded from existence to get to the Realm Refiner. They saw so many die and suffer in the 2nd layer as he found the war and the bloodline array acting on everyone.

They saw Delenn be consumed. They saw Lanbao sacrifice herself so he could live. They saw death on a scale none had ever believed possible. They also saw how close to death Lind had come each time.

He walked into fire but not for pride nor for the dragons. He did it for his loved ones. He did it because people were not things to him.

[I am not a God, but if God stood before me, he would know my wrath!] All the dragons saw something suddenly. It was so strong none could ignore it but a massive sinuous form that far outclassed the one known.

The emerald eyes of the phantom looked at them from some place of incredible pain.

They wept and as names and places Lind had lived and seen up to the current moment washed over them.

"T–t–true Lord! I apologize!" The words snapped him out of the trance and the phantom vanished. He felt very tired but it seemed the strange notion had been shaken from the dragons.

"Rest and prepare. We start the Convocation soon." The 3 left the dragons shortly afterward but the peak Sovereign Tiers looked at each other knowingly.

[Tell no one if the race memory reacts. It is too dangerous for the young to know what the True Lord will become.]

The various ancient heads nodded and they claimed the various roosts made to align with their races.

Separated from the event but looking on, the 2 True Lords looked grave.

"It would seem we severely underestimated the boy. It would be better to take his claims more seriously." Kaltara, the Ultimate Shield True Lord spoke. Her relaxed nature was nowhere to be found at that moment.

"It has been a long time since I saw one of those. It seems natural given his unique path." Van, the Ultimate Spear True Lord agreed as there was no sign of his earlier animosity.

[I did warn you. He is not like the others. His new race proves that already but we should tread carefully. Such signs are not a certainty, but given his current Throne, it would seem likely.] A voice of excitement reached them but they both only solemnly nodded.

Despite their verbal disdain to Lind, they had been in contact with Helsgath long ago. Ever since the Grand Array seemed to fail, they could not hold back any longer, yet none of them had understood what was happening until Lind explained it to them.

The Convocation was not just about ending current hostilities but preventing the desolation of old battles beginning again.

What they had just seen as Lind met with the dragon clans showed them that while he was relatively younger than most True Lords, his harsh life had tempered him far more than others.

The suffering to come, if they were right, would make all that came before it pale in comparison.

Battles at that level did not just change landscapes, afterall. It destroyed entire realms!
