Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1404 - 1403 - Another True Lord

Chapter 1404 - 1403 - Another True Lord

The Throne of Living Flame was one of the supreme powers of the Sovereign Lands. Not all Thrones had such a claim but they were usually close.

The Throne of Living Flame was a beauty to behold. It was a shimmering light in the darkness. At night, many flames burned to light up the night sky with all the colors known to the world.

At the heart of the Throne was a massive crystal flame. It radiated power that made even peak Sovereign Tier Immortals buckle with weakness as all felt their dantians resonate with it.

It was the Living Flame Crystal and it was the foundation of the entire Throne.

Around that massive structure were the homes of the 3 phoenix clans that ruled the Throne.

Unlike others, a single race did not define the Throne.

Sky Phoenix, Nightflame Phoenix, and Thunder Phoenix Clans were at the peak with several weaker clans beneath them.

They were not the rulers, however, of the Throne.

A young looking man held that title. He had azure hair and tanned skin with golden robes as he cultivated in his courtyard at the peak of the Living Flame Crystal.

His eyes were the color of red wine as he studied several jade slips.

He felt a presence appear at his courtyard entrance and sighed.

"What is it?" No one disturbed him without reason but his dark violet eyes narrowed as the oldest Sovereign Tier entered. She was a withered old woman but her power was still undeniable.

Her robes were azure and black to represent her Nightflame Clan.

He bowed to her but she waved him off.

"True Lord, you need to assert your dominance more." He smiled at her words as he did not agree entirely with them. He was only 200,000 years old but she was nearly 50 million.

His status may be above her but she had seen far more than he had.

"You are still my senior, what do you need?" She smirked at him but said no more.

"My Clan's lowest branch seems to have had a rather troublesome visitor. He is the True Lord of the dragons." The youth frowned briefly before standing up quickly.

A dragon! The True Lord as well?! How dare they–

He paused as he actually understood what was being said.

"Lind Frey is here?" The matriarch nodded in confirmation. He then smiled wide.

"That is excellent!" She looked up confused before he put a vial in front of her. It was one of their best but then he produced another that was far superior to the first.

"His Clan is able to make such pure items, he is an elixir master of incredible renown, surely we could learn from him?" He was smiling but the Nightflame Matriarch poured cold water on his ideas.

"He is holding our overseers hostage and freed slaves. We cannot–" He held up his calloused hands to stop her. It was troublesome but that was too far.

He sighed as he had hoped for a more amicable relationship.

"What exactly has he done?" She relayed the truth and it made him frown. While interference was not welcome, it seemed like the lower realm Nightflame overseers were in the wrong.

"Children should not be punished like that. Even our own laws say that." She sighed and nodded as she could not deny it.

"Still, a True Lord of those damned dragons–" He held up his hands once more as he could not deny that statement.

Still, Lind Frey had been fair to many races without prejudice. Even he, isolated in his seclusion, knew of that,

"He is not known to be vindictive. Given the context, the Overseer went too far. I have told you to rotate them more often." He dismissed a dragon being in their land but the matriarch was not done.

"He freed slaves! He has no right!" The youth changed in that moment. His aura made her kneel and he looked at her coldly.

[He has no right to do what?] The Authority reverberated briefly but the matriarch understood.

She actually shivered as it was a bit taboo. While a normal dragon would face immediate reprisal, a True Lord had some leeway. Especially the current True Lord of Dragons.

"Forgive me, but he has invaded our Throne without permission. At the very least he must answer for that!" The pressure was pulled back as she was not entirely out of line but the youth then summoned a jade communication stone.

It flowed with orange, red, and yellow as if a flame itself but it was a peak Law Grade artifact.

"Current information on True Lord Lind Frey." The artifact flared into an actual flame at the moment but even the Nightflame Matriarch could make out the various lines of text in each flicker. It was very dense as befitted such a powerful person.

Several areas lit up brighter than others and a grim look crossed the young man's face.

"So, he retaliated against that foolish coalition. They used a flimsy excuse when the reality is not convenient." She knew of the events he spoke about as it had caused a shockwave politically.

The Frey Clan was now very isolated but still had very powerful connections. Even their Throne had to be wary of the Heavenly Maiden Sect and Divine Sword Sect. They were 2 of the oldest powers and none had ever been able to bring them down.

It was even shocking to learn that the Fiend assault on the Celestial Fields had not extinguished their lower branches at all!

Such resilience could not be ignored as they had fresh numbers once the Celestial Fields were reconnected and restored.

"I believe he is avoiding them for obvious reasons but his pattern does not match the current actions. Something else is happening we do not know about." The Nightflame Matriarch cocked her head at his words before she realized he did not know!

"True Lord, his wife was taken by the Divine Ryuu Clan." Being at odds with dragons meant they kept an eye on them. The Divine Ryuu Clan was also a bit dangerous as they could easily come after people that insulted their beliefs.

The young man shot to his feet in anger!

"How dare they! I knew they were fanatics about soulmates but that is too far!" The old woman nearly toppled over as the full power of the young man in front of her nearly crushed her.

An apologetic look quickly crossed his face as he reeled in his power.

"You knew this but still wondered why he was here? He needs to get to his mate and on one thing both dragons and we agree, no one messes with our families. He has not killed anyone nor done any crime aside from infiltration." He calmly listed off his reasoning but saw her eyes rail against what was coming.

He sighed.

That was the problem with races and their True Lords. The ingrained race memory prejudices could influence the growing cultivators before their intelligence truly took hold. Even the divine bloodlines were not exempt from that issue.

True Lords, however, are partially selected because they are not locked in by outside influences. If they were, they could never become True Lords in the first place.

"Send my guards with strict orders he is not to be harmed or impeded in any way. It far preferable to be on amicable terms with this True Lord. Besides, while being a dragon, was it not his own Clan that freely gave us elixirs when our skirmish with the Bane Sect nearly cost us a generation of our kin?" That last fact seemed to mollify her.

A debt, no matter what issue the race may have with dragons, must always be paid. The karma was far keener to Immortals but even more so to phoenixes. They literally experienced rebirth so they knew better than any race the weight of karma on a soul.

"It will be done." She bowed and left him. He sighed as he looked back. He wanted to meet Lind Frey.

Truth be told, he wanted to meet any fellow True Lord but that was not to be. A few traditions even he could not break.

He was too young to be revealed yet. It frustrated him because all he knew about Lind Frey showed he was far younger than any True Lord on record. The young man was actually considered very young as well but he was a phoenix.

Lifespan becomes murky when you could literally start your life over as part of the life cycle.

"Maybe someday he will come back for this act of mercy. They can't stop me if he is here after all." He suddenly grasped why the Nightflame Matriarch was so irritated.

The invasion of territory and punishment of her slavers was truly wrong but what likely pushed her to be so quick to attack was the possibility that Lind Frey could sense him.

It was said True Lords could sense each other but that was no different from anyone else. They had to be in range for that to be true and the Outer Flame was too distant from the Origin Flame Area alone for anyone to reach it.

He was in the Samsara Heart so it was flat out impossible for Lind Frey to sense him at all.

The youth sighed and wondered if he could speed up time just to be older. It was not impossible if prohibitively expensive. He returned to his studies and wondered what chaos was about to be unleashed on the Sovereign Lands.

He did not worry about it though. Thrones were outside the troubles of the scrabbling fools. They literally poked a dragon so now they would reap the fire storm that followed.
