Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1350 - 1349 - Inheritor Emerges

Chapter 1350 - 1349 - Inheritor Emerges

It had been 5000 years since the Reincarnation Inheritance opened. Much had changed in that time but the greatest change was the Silver Dream Pavilion.

Thanks to the actions of Lind Frey to get the most in and the clear sacrifice he made to get as many as he could to survive, the powers cooled off on their machinations.

If only peace had been able to last during that time.

The Fiends had been unusually quiet so many had assumed they had been building up their forces once more. The Sovereign Tiers were suppressing things on their layer but resources had limits to extend such suppression to the other 3.

Further, the Heaven Realm Lands still had massive numbers of Fiends always rising up or being found to have enclaves of power still heavily entrenched but it was not them that started the first major war.

It was humans.

Of all the races, humans were not held in high regard for the fact they could not unify very well. Given such a short time, their memories seemed to become distorted despite the benefits of cultivation.

Demons, even corrupted ones, tended to simply seek out combat personally rather than on a grand scale. While empires and sects could engage in large scale battle, it was usually a human action that instigated it.

Or at least, that is how it was couched in history for those that survived but there was truth to it too. Human greed was the most common cause of strife in any realm.

The current war started in the 2nd layer. The Fionan Empire and Rubyfire Empire had made an alliance that drew a lot of eyes but their power was nearly unassailable.

That said, their members were essentially targets. Some were safe as common sense did still curtail most people. Meaning that nobles or other important figures and their families were off limits unless someone was tired of living.

Conversely, those that were prepared for such actions chose them as their first targets.

The Frey Clan was a bit of an outlier as the harsh counterattacks had made many stop bothering them after a few millennia on top of the edicts from the Sovereign Tiers.

The Goddess of Illusion, for instance, has many disciples and not even the most black hearted psychopath would even put a scratch on one of them.

The general Frey Clan on all layers enjoyed similar protection. The Sanctuary Empire had become different though. They no longer had an emperor but a council and it was there that some suspected the trouble started from.

The empire had its members ascend and felt like there was an opportunity to create a new branch of their empire in the 2nd layer.

While there was space thanks to the isolating effects of the Corruption, the time since it was purified let the powers expand aggressively to the known rich lands. Resources were also springing up almost like making up for lost time!

Thus, small conflicts had sprung up but no one committed fully since the Frenzy as it was not worth it.

Then, the rising numbers of 6 elementals threw everything out of balance until greed opened the door to war.

Power bred ambition and the feeling of being part of a supreme power led them to form a new kingdom on the 2nd layer.

Rather than be snapped up by existing empires or sects and forced to start over, the Shard and Crystal Tier Immortal 6 elementals wanted to rise to the top on their own.

The long held scars from the mortal realms had never truly healed even after all that time under Lind's tutelage or maybe it simply was buried under the success he led them under.

It was inevitable that they would stray from his path of research and exploration. Power was what mattered and they wanted it for themselves.

The Sigma Empire was born aggressively. It swallowed anything below high level powers like they were nothing. The power of 6 elementals was not just made apparent but it became undeniable that as a group they were terrifying.

The supreme powers did not bother with them so long as they knew their place but that all changed 1000 years after Lind Frey entered the Reincarnation Inheritance.

The foundation the Sigma Empire built up by then was enough to become a supreme power in the 2nd layer all on its own, but they did not seem satisfied with that.

Instead, they waged war on demons, sects, or anyone that had something they wanted. Being mostly focused around 6 elementals, they wanted it all.

Demons had very few 6 elementals and most of those were inside the Frey Clan one way or the other.

Yet, when war officially broke out, the Frey Clan did not remain neutral. They tried to negotiate a peace but it fell through as the 6 elementals felt like the Frey Clan was trying to control them again.

The long held dream of freedom and power had combined to feed their desire for true independence. The fact it was the age old tale of power corrupting their views was overlooked by all.

Some jealousy about how the Frey Clan seemed to get special dispensation also irked the Sigma Empire founders it seemed.

It all ended in tears as a prominent young master of the Frey Clan engaged in battle with a prodigy of the Sigma Empire. No one recalled who started it but the result was the death of the young master.

It spread quickly until full blown battles broke out. Some stayed out of it but mostly things got ugly. Millions died before it calmed down.

Then the 3rd layer became the next hot spot. The Frey Clan saw it coming long ago and prepared but not everyone thought the Sigma Empire could exert such foolishness in the 3rd layer.

They were wrong.

The Endless Peaks saw invasions begin and several high powers fell. The Heavenly Maiden Sect and Divine Sword Sect acted in tandem with the Frey Clan to curtail the battles. It was a bloody affair but it had them all caught off guard when the true target was revealed.

The Silver Dream Pavilion was swallowed whole!

Some escaped but most were taken prisoner or enslaved. The very nature of the place had a neutral ground by keeping powerful representatives running it.

In that sense, precious hostages were offered up if someone could overcome the defenses and the artifacts protecting them.

Sadly, the Sigma Empire had learned the lessons from Lind Frey too well. His theoretical knowledge had been embraced the most by all 6 elementals. The benefits had finally proven why various powers did not share breakthroughs in knowledge so easily.

Still, the Frey Clan rose up and rescued many of the hostages after nearly a thousand years of battle. The bloodshed and vicious fallout left many licking their wounds in the end.

The change in the powers settled over time until the new normal took shape. The Sigma Empire was not well regarded but they were too powerful to ignore or isolate.

The fact that 6 elementals were always in demand in the current day also meant they became a blade against which some measured their power at times.

The Divine Inheritances did not care about it at all. The spirits made it clear that things would continue and even the Sigma Empire could not stop legacy holders from attempting to enter it.

They tried but a Divine Inheritance did not care about Immortal squabbles.

The Sovereign Tiers did not interfere aside from a stern warning against their own interests.

Things seemed to be going in a stable direction until an unprecedented event occurred. The black and green doorway creaked open.

For almost 5000 years, people had entered the 3rd Inheritance, but none had ever left. Soul tablets or other life trackers let people know if their candidates lived, but that was all they could know.

Many had shattered over that same time so all knew they were working.

On the day it creaked open, the guards looking over the entrance grounds were not shirking their duties. They took it seriously as a Divine Inheritance brought them business and power.

The Sigma Empire had leveraged access and frankly it was unavoidable to gain resources to keep access to the market open. It simply was pragmatic.

A figure slowly stepped out of the Inheritance and the men holding their spears or swords ready looked shocked as the woman was known to them.

Her hair was evenly split between abyssal black and vibrant green like the doorway. Her eyes were swapped against the hair color but her skin was very fine and pale. The swords on her hips had changed, but she still had 2 of them.

Her robes were no longer the tatters they had been either.

She paused outside the door and her face went cold as she saw the armed men looking back at her in apprehension or greed.

She closed her eyes and all felt a powerful aura wash over them. It felt like a Sovereign Tier!

When she opened her eyes again she only said one sentence.

"Bring Evie to me, or die."
