Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1348 - 1347 - Unexpected Compatibility

Chapter 1348 - 1347 - Unexpected Compatibility

"I know I told him to speed up but this is just–" The Divine Soul stomped over to the currently unconscious dragon. There were few secrets from their senses but they froze as they realized an emerald haze was still emanating from the body.

The feeling was unlike anything they ever felt before but there was also something familiar in it. Something they had only hoped was possible.

"The old Inheritance we made. Those crazy fools from that wurm infested desert let us add a trial we only hoped would reach our goal." The anger and frustration was gone from their voice.

A strange hand appeared from the sleeve. It had old, dark, white, and even a scale covered fingers. The instanted it touched the emerald haze, it was like water meeting dry earth.

It flowed into them like a storm but it brought only solace to the soul.

Their once disparate flesh merged to become a perfect homogeneity. Their shoulders shook as their laughter filled the air.

"We were right! By the spirits we were right! No wonder that brat did this to you. Merging with a Dao Grade artifact is suicide but you pulled it off because you were what we sought all this time!" The figure stood up and looked around at the Elemental souls now happily returning to the cycle of life and death.

The Foundation Trial was passed. The dragon had already advanced well along the path but their soul and cultivation realms needed polishing.

[Divine Incarnate, the Inheritor is about to pass the final trial.] The Inheritance spirit spoke in their mind but they no longer cared.

"Let them face it then. If they pass, let me know. If they seem like they are going to die, intervene." A ripple was felt in the spirit but it did not dare to disobey.

The Divine Soul picked up the dragon with their intent alone and took them to the corridor. It would take time for them to consolidate but before that, they wanted to know.

The various theories about 6 elementals always ended in failure but something was always learned. Yet, the breakthrough to a stable World Realm had eluded all.

The dragon in front of him had done it!

Further, the harmony he wielded seemed tailor made for their Inheritances. It did not seem like he went through the Inheritance of Death but they could tell he would have done well.

[Divine Incarnate, I must ask you to not interfere with my Master.] A bald dark skinned man suddenly appeared looking sternly at them. Normally, a spirit would hardly be a concern but the aura from that one was shocking.

"So, the legends of guardians for True Lords were real. Fascinating." Divine Incarnate showed no concern but Haro was not inclined to waste time.

"My Master follows his Dao. While it is unexpectedly compatible with your own, it is not his path. Cease your intent to interfere or I will be forced to act." It sounded like an empty threat to most but the Divine Soul knew better.

The black ring with the emerald dragon shimmered. A power far beyond anything an Immortal could dream of wielding radiated off of it.

The most shocking thing, however, was how it seemed to improve the dragon's cultivation. He was compatible with the passive Dao aura?!

Delight and intense desire to understand flowed through them but the dragon's body was snatched away with ease.

"By the spirits, you can't do that?! This is my Inheritance, my rules–" The denial of the Divine Soul was cut short as the weight of Authority fell down on them. Haro looked at them calmly as if nothing was occurring.

"My Master will learn what he can to continue his path, but that is all. He is beyond your reach already as you should be able to tell." Shock made Divine Incarnate shiver. It was not the fact Authority was laid upon them but the level of it!

"D–D–Divine Monarch!" Haro smiled but said nothing.

If True Lords were the Heavenly representatives of their races in the Celestial Fields, a Divine Monarch was a vast chasm of higher order power.

Unlike True Lords that could be said to be fairly common given time, Divine Monarchs were nowhere near them. It was unknown how they came to be nor what tribulations they faced to become them.

The legend of the guardians was synonymous with the Fiend Wars. The Authority of True Lords was one of the few weapons to work effectively on them. Thus, the Fiends made a point to hunt them whenever they appeared.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to hide a True Lord as their aura by its nature was constantly there. Even if a beast could keep it low key by their nature, the tribulations would give them away just as surely as anything could.

Epochs ago, a Divine Monarch solved the problem by creating storage treasures that had spirits infused into them. The sole purpose was to be a guide and final safeguard as needed.

Legends existed of whole Fiend armies being wiped out at the cost of such tools. As such, they became more rare as making such tools was not an easy thing.

"Please, senior, this dragon could hold the key to the whole war! I need to help him get stronger faster! I can guide–" Haro now narrowed his dark eyes and his imposing figure actually made the Divine Soul kneel.

If Lind had been awake, he would have been shocked at the display of power.

His body was shielded by Haro for the most part, but even Haro noted the shocking ability Lind had to absorb the passive energy in the air between the 2 Divine beings.

"That is not how cultivation works. Given your unique Dao, you should know better than most how true that is. My Master is already a deadly weapon against the Fiends but if you try to make him deviate, you will only help your enemies. Trust in him. He has come this far on his own." Haro well knew he was speaking to one of the key figures in Lind's origins.

The fateful encounter in a Ruin helped Lind formulate his basic elemental theories. He only learned of it long afterward but the fact remained he knew of it.

Inspiring a cultivator was fine, but forcing them away from their Dao so late in their cultivation was akin to crippling them. No matter how compatible it seemed, he knew Lind's Dao of Defiance would not allow for anything to alter its path.

"There is another candidate already tasked as an Inheritor. She may not be able to go as far as my Master, but that is good too. You are not trying to create replacements of yourselves, but cultivators that can take your legacies even further than you could." Haro's words made the Divine Soul snap out of their fervor.

The tension slowly drained as they became irritated at their own actions. When did they become a petulant child?!

"It has been so long, senior. We left these pieces of ourselves behind to increase the odds but we never dreamed of someone like him. Real hope is something hard to come by up there as you well know. You have seen what the current Divine Lands are like?" Haro nodded grimly.

"The Shimmering Plains of the Western Continent held the battle that wiped it from the world. The other 3 continents are in constant warfare, strife, and various ailments. Humans and demons squabble over land while the lords of the Galactic Seas ignore it all." His words would have caused Lind's ears to bleed if he was awake.

The intent behind each one was too much for even a Sovereign Tier to bear.

Divine Incarnate nodded and looked down at Lind.

"Can he really do it? Can he really be the fulcrum we have sought for so long?" Haro finally smiled and began to talk.

He spoke of the Moebius Sect, the Sanctuary Empires, the Fiends' desperate attempts to stop him on all fronts. He spoke of the spread of the corrected elemental theories and improvement of all cultivators, not just 6 elementals.

As Haro spoke, the Divine Incarnate began to weep. They shook as they understood the gamble the 6 of them took so long ago had paid off in ways they never anticipated.

A pale hand, whole of flesh, patted Lind's head.

"I wish I could just approve you through the other 2 trials but you have to face them. The Present Trial will not pose much of an obstacle given your results in the Foundation Trial, but the Future Trial could be the most difficult for you." Haro was curious but did not ask for elaboration.

The less he knew, the less he would influence Lind in his choices.

The 2 Divine being spoke for a bit more before Haro returned to his ring. Divine Incarnate picked up Lind gently in their own arms and took him to a place of rest. Lind had to consolidate all he learned and be at his peak for the next trial.

The Present Trial will test him in ways that make the Foundation Trial seem tame.
