Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1336 - 1335 - Ravaged by Dao

Chapter 1336 - 1335 - Ravaged by Dao

An open air room let a breeze flow over the bed and couches set in the simple stone room. The view of the island was clear in all 4 directions but it was quite comfortable thanks to the fire at the heart of it and some formations keeping things regulated.

There were also formations hiding the room from outside so that no one could see in nor even know it was there.

Evie had several such safe rooms as the nature of her job required them for safety or for prisoners if needed.

Lind was looking exhausted as the prone form slumbered in front of him. Her once white streaked hair and amber eyes were gone. Her skin had been a healthy tan before too but that too was changed.

Still, he knew his daughter on sight.

His Eyes could never be deceived.

Her skin was now very pale but still had the luster of life. Her eyes were now 2 colors. One was an abyss while the other was not far from his own color. It was not emerald but a swirling storm of Life.

Her hair was shimmering with profound streams of power. He could see it was a blend of dark and pale colors but it also seemed of them all under the daylight streaming in the openings.

Her robes were barely holding together, he had made them, but they had been changed. It was like they had been Forged by someone expert that was wearing a blindfold while holding their breath.

It was not evenly distributed nor was it having any synergy between the pieces anymore. Part of it was clearly carrying the aura of the Inheritance of Death and the other the Inheritance of Creation.

He was reluctant to call them artifacts exactly but they had clearly been affected by something powerful.

His exhaustion stemmed from overcoming the impulse that had been driving Fey to open the 3rd Inheritance. The moment she arrived, he had felt Abby and the little spirit look in a direction.

When he saw her, his heart broke as he could see she was barely holding on. It had taken nearly half his Qi and some application of Laws to stop her.

The rest of his reserves were drained just to heal the damage to her body and soul. Her body was near a breaking point and he recognized why.

"Abby." She appeared looking sad at his call. The little girl was also hiding behind her. She still had no name.

"I want the truth and I want it now." He held up the 2 familiar artifacts but there was a dead feeling from them. The nascent spirits had been consumed somehow he did not understand.

It was not that they never had any, but that they had been stripped away in some way.

Both spirits looked gloomy but a third member appeared with a grim look on his face.

"Master, it is not like you think. The spirits were not sacrificed but resonated too strongly with her." Haro looked sad but also gently patted Fey's head. "She is too compatible with the Dao of the 2 Inheritances."

He looked up at his now oldest spirit tool. Haro bowed before he continued.

"You are an exception, Master. Not just due to being a True Lord but a mastery of your elements and Laws that protects you from the power of Dao." He looked up sharply but then Haro conjured elements that made the formations strain for the few moments he held them.

Lind felt no danger but he saw Fey's body react drastically.

He quickly summoned a few elixirs of Law Grade that helped her recover but he then understood.

He was a massive outlier to most cultivators. Laws were essential to Immortals but they could resonate with the Dao. The lower the tier, the more danger they faced in that case.

Lind was a 6 elemental so he had an advantage he had not fully grasped in that arena.

All of his kind would as their harmonies advanced ahead of their foundation.

The 6 elementals would have to push their harmonies to be nearly Daos before becoming a Divine Realm. Thus, they could handle exposure to Daos that would ravage Immortals.

Fey had been exposed to 2 versions of Dao and had somehow held onto herself despite that.

It showed the path she walked was compatible but that did not change the fact she was only a Radiant Tier Immortal.

Dao was too powerful for any Immortal to safely touch on. Even Lind, with the protection of his harmony, had been struggling to keep his body in a peak condition.

Fey had no such protection and seemed muddled when he saw her again. He had no idea she had even attempted the Inheritances! Why had no one told him?!

He refrained from demanding answers as Fey was an adult. She pursued her cultivation like everyone else. He just had to help her now.

The damage to her body was easily resolved but the damage to her mind and soul were problematic.

Her mind had been voluntarily sacrificed to hold onto stability but her soul was fractured. He saw how dangerous Immortals touching on Dao truly was.

"Can she be saved?" She had barely seemed to recognize him. His experience told him that when she awoke, the issue would persist.

"Master, she accepted to be an Inheritor of both. We can feel it." Abby finally spoke up and the toddler next to her nodded. Her tiny cherubic face looked guilty but Lind smiled at her.

"I don't blame you too but she is my daughter. Even if she is an adult and has proven countless times how powerful she is, I will still worry." His mind flashed with old guilt at the time he pushed his family away but Fey was one of the few that was fervently on his side.

She was also one of the few that did not mince words when he most needed to hear harsh ones.

He knew she had reached a bottleneck long ago but he had no idea it was so bad that she had pushed herself so far.

He downed a Recovery Elixir to restore his Qi and meditated to recover enough to fully examine her.

After that he summoned several apparatus to confirm what his senses told him. He trusted his ability to evaluated a patient but there were limits to how much detail he could pull out.

A casket appeared that he carefully laid her down in. It was made up mostly of elemental crystals but unlike other cultivators, Lind used all 18 elements. Since his elements had fused, he had to adjust many of his tools but a few were still compatible.

The casket was peak Law Grade and seemed able to accept his more profound elemental power. It lit up and metal lines were revealed with sigils engraved on them. The air flickered above it as a detailed schematic of her meridians, dantian, and even an ephemeral aura were displayed.

The meridians were fine, better than fine actually, as they were tempered by whatever changed her appearance. The dantian, on the other hand, showed clear signs of cracks and strain.

The energy inside was changing and far exceeded what a Radiant Tier could withstand for long. Somehow, her body was holding on but he let his healing Arts flow through the casket.

He had no official name for them as they were unique to him alone. His harmonic Qi enclosed the crystal and the cracks slowly disappeared. Her complexion became much healthier just with that action alone but it was merely a delay.

The power inside would damage it again soon if something did not change.

He moved on to her soul. It was normally much harder to evaluate, even with a tool, but he knew Fey better than almost anyone. Her nearly crippled body back in Cimmeria had been transformed by his elixir.

He had trained her, recovered her from a heart demon, and watched her walk down a path of life and death unlike many others. Her alchemy was nearly second to none that he knew of.

Only his Mother could claim to know more about her but only just.

The amorphous energy was not a good sign though, no matter how he looked at it. Normally, a soul of an Immortal would look similar to their physical body. At least, it would be in the shape of whatever was the natural state of the cultivator.

Fey's, however, was a blob. That could indicate she was about to separate from her physical body but the body was relatively fine. Instead, it showed her soul had been pushed well past its limits.

No wonder she had not recognized him right away.

"Master, this level of damage is mostly due to being exposed to Dao. The fact she is alive at all is a miracle." Haro spoke up but Abby looked angry.

"It is not a miracle! She is strong! She is what my creator hoped for!" Lind sighed as both were right but Abby was angry because of guilt. She was made by the being that hurt his daughter.

His eyes lit up and a massive amount of emerald Qi flowed over Fey's body. He could strengthen her soul but healing it was beyond him. He could only pray that the final Inheritance would give her something to heal her and quickly.
