Chapter 1323 - 1322 - Invigorating a Spirit
Chapter 1323 - 1322 - Invigorating a Spirit
Lind was mentally exhausted. His wives had been happy to see him come home and make progress but were less pleased about the new state of his body.
Abby was a part of him! The young spirit was doted on before but now she would always be there. While they were not exactly wild and crazy kids anymore, the amorous feelings ran strongly in them.
Ethry in particular was displeased but even she would not give in to her draconic instincts so long as Abby was there. Abby was so happy and full of smiles that no one could reveal to her that the situation was awkward.
Haro came to the rescue at last and informed them that it was not a permanent thing. Many cultivators nurtured spirit tools and artifacts inside their bodies as it vastly sped up the process.
There were several obstacles given the unique nature of Abby and her soon to exist counterpart. They were created as specific parts of 2 Inheritances to unlock a third. Once that was done, their purpose would be considered fulfilled.
Haro warned Lind that if he did not want Abby to cease to exist, he should nurture the artifacts into something else. His Forging ability could be used to rework their physical existence as they were not part of his flesh and blood.
It gave him a headache but also a challenge. He suspected Divine Creator did it for that exact reason.
It was likely a sort of trial to push his skills with his half-step Dao elements and Laws about to reach the next step too. Pseudo Dao skills would also come into play at that time but he would not hold back.
He had to start from scratch studying the inscriptions and sigils that were on his arms. The issue was not just the superior grade but his own changes. He had unlocked his abilities but he had yet to truly remaster them.
The Frey Clan was finally full of Immortals on par with any supreme power so he left things to his wives and descendants. He went into seclusion, or at least as much as he could with Abby happily spending time with him.
Years flew past before he even scratched the surface of his left arm and that was with Abby's help and centuries of previous study!
He was trying to understand more than the Laws already associated with her but also her functions and overall purpose. The last part was fairly easy as he knew she was a cipher key but was that all she could be?
Haro was a storage ring for True Lords and his functions were far beyond what he had shown to him. He knew for a fact Haro was still limited by his cultivation as an Immortal. The ring was already far more vast than any other storage treasure and had resources he could barely fathom at times.
It would not be wrong to say his ring could have enough resources to supply even a supreme Radiant Tier power for centuries if he filled it to the brim. It was staggering to think of and it was still not fully unlocked!
He could not even touch the creation of Haro. That told him something terrifying about the separation between low, medium, high, and peak grades in the Divine Realm.
The gap between the minor steps was exponentially higher than anything he had conceived of before. Grade 7 had been harsh in some ways but it was more of a limit of his capacity of Qi more than anything holding him back.
Peak grade 7 and Law Grade items need the highest quality Qi at ever increasing quantities. A Radiant Tier, even as unusual as him, had limits in that regard.
Yet, while studying the symbols on his body, he found his half-step Dao elements were hardly bothered anymore! He had Qi to spare so long as he did not try to attempt pseudo Dao level.
In other words, he finally reached the peak of both grade 7 and Law Grade items.
It opened his mind to far more options than before but he also found it felt limiting. It was like his foundation felt restricted by the entirety of Immortal Realm professions!
So having the next step available to study kept his mind invigorated.
"Master, look!" Abby was manipulating Laws smoothly now but he frowned that they were limited to the Laws of the Inheritance of Death. She was merged with him. She should be able to do more.
"That is good but I asked you to work on the Law of Cooling. Show me that." A flame was burning in a corner of the courtyard solely for that purpose but she pouted before showing her progress.
Nothing. There was no response at all!
"Abby, I showed you and you said you could do it. Did you lie to me?" He was being stern and she looked pale.
"N–no! I was not lying but it is so hard! It won't dance for me like the other 3!" He narrowed his eyes at her but then thought about it another way.
"Like this?" He began to manipulate the Law of Cooling and the temperature plummeted but the fire remained unchanged. It was about the removal of atomic excitation and she shivered right in front of him.
She felt the effects but he could tell she was not grasping even the basics of it.
"You said you wanted us to be together forever, right?" She nodded as she rubbed her arms up and down. "You have to work for that too, then. The Law of Death is related to Cooling in what happens to a body once life is gone. It is why I chose it for you to start."
The concept was simple. He wanted to know if a spirit bound by an item would be limited by the artifact or could grow beyond it.
If the former was the case, then all the work would be on his shoulders. If the latter, then a collaborative or perhaps unknown option could be opened to allow Abby to one day become her own being in totality.
It was one path to her salvation and if she could grow beyond the Inheritance foundation, it would be a good first step.
He stopped using the Law and stepped back as the fire returned the world to normal.
She looked desperate as she waved her arms and Qi responded erratically to her attempts.
She reminded him of Soul Realms or World Realms adjusting to their new state of being.
He smiled as he thought of something.
"Abby, just use water and air elements. Create ice." She looked relieved as she quickly complied but frowned as something was wrong. The ice was not forming. She looked at him but he said nothing.
Air and water flowed in front of his Eyes in ever more complex patterns but never coalesced into ice. She did not understand that a third element was needed.
Air, water, and darkness made ice. The point of the exercise was to push her. Laws were too complex but elemental manipulation was basic to all cultivators.
Slowly, he saw her figure out what she was missing. The darkness element was strong under her command so ice still failed to form. The room actually dimmed instead!
He was now looking at his left arm and noticed several sigils flare that had been dormant as she finally formed an icicle at long last. She looked pale and ephemeral but she had succeeded.
"I–I did it!" She then dispersed and the energy returned to his arm. He smiled but said nothing more.
She could grow. That was all he needed to know.
He focused on the sigils that had flared up before she succeeded and some understanding flowed into him.
"Inscriptions for functions but sigils for when a spirit manifests. Interesting." The markings showed his thinking was too shallow. When he made Protean, it had been intentional but mostly to make a weapon that could adapt to his needs and his unique existence.
While it had been impressive, he now saw how he had limited Protean.
He was about to try a few experiments when a feeling of Qi flowing to his right arm flared up. He was confused until he noticed the flames near him had suddenly become stronger. The potted plants also grew staller or more robust in the next few moments but then it all settled down.
He delved his right arm but felt no new spirit.
[It is not so easy, Master. Yet, you seem to have made a spiritual seed by teaching Abby. Her nature is counter to it and thus her actions have an effect.] Haro's voice rang in his head but it made him smile after absorbing the new information.
He realized that spawning a spirit was far more simple than he had thought!
He quickly summoned some materials and began to Forge as he pushed his insights to the limit. He was not intentionally creating a spirit tool but one that had the potential.
He let the elements arrange themselves as the metals fused into an alloy for him. A shield was shaped in that moment that had silver highlights with a crimson base. It was a peak Law Grade item but the point was to see if he could succeed in making a potential spirit tool.
He then infused his aura into it and applied his comprehension of Laws and the trace of Dao.
In quick succession, the shield changed as a feeling of life came over it but also the foundation of the shield changed. It had been peak Law Grade but it moved up to pseudo Dao grade all on its own!
The feeling of a spirit was faint yet it was clear.
"So, I need to push my right arm to the brink as one possibility. Time to try out other paths." He set up several sets of ores and herbs as he began to experiment the various ways to invigorate a spirit. He had a lot of tests to do!
