Chapter 1299 - 1298 - Weaving Shadows
Chapter 1299 - 1298 - Weaving Shadows
Locked in place, the Elemental tried to leave the body they were inhabiting. They were shocked to learn they could not! Further, the soul under their control was now isolated and protected! What kind of weaving was that?!
They had never been contained like that before and yet they could kill the body still, but one glance from those vertically slit emerald eyes made it freeze in place. The threat was real!
They would die before being able to kill their host!
"You did not come to steal. You are desperate. Why?" The 2 statements were inviolate. They could feel it. They could not speak but it seemed the vile Lind Frey was examining them. Death! They wanted to die!
They tried to shatter their core but were shocked when nothing happened. A tired sigh left him.
"I lived with Elementals long ago. I am well aware of how you cultivate. You will not die unless you push me. You can still transmit. So, tell me, why do you hate me when I do not recall having done anything to any Elemental?" Rage filled them.
[NOTHING?! You are a weaver! You are an abomination to my kind!] Confusion crossed his features. They did not care. [Where are they?! Where are the ones you raise to feed your vile profession?!]
"Vile–?" Anger suddenly made them feel like an ant "YOU THINK I AM A SOULMANCER?! YOU THINK I WOULD DARE DO THAT?!"
His anger actually made the body quiver in pain. The Elemental actually felt shocked. The anger could not be faked to that extent!
Lind Frey loomed over them before his eyes glowed. They felt naked before those eyes when suddenly the feeling of being immersed in the body was cut off!
"I see. You have grasped the Law of Souls and Puppetry. You latch onto the soul and isolate it from its body to control it. An interesting application but limited. You are being too narrow." His voice was stern as the Elemental suddenly found themselves outside the body!
The human collapsed but was caught by a cushion of air. Lind Frey quickly administered a Law Grade elixir and the damage to the body was not only undone but the soul was invigorated.
"Thank the spirits, it worked." The Elemental was floating inside the strange blue halo still. It realized that the weaving was a non-lethal binding for Elementals!
[You denied using us but you have a cage ready built for us?!] Lind Frey looked up at them as if they were an idiot.
"We are in my Clan's Vault. For the record, I can contain demons, humans, aether children, beasts, and even Fiends. Celestials are doable but troublesome due to the fact that even I do not have full expertise on what they can do yet." He waved his hands and various sigils blazed that corresponded to all the elements!
They could feel the binding power but how were there so many?! Something else it noticed was not a single weaving was not below Law Grade.
Anger surged once more.
[How many of us did it take to make these?! Is this what you did with them?!] Anger returned to his face but he took a deep breath before his fingers glowed.
"Watch, and learn." Shimmering sigils flared to life but the elements danced around his hands as if happy to come to him. The Elemental stared but then felt like the world was coming apart as they understood what they were watching.
A weaver using only his own soul had such power? He could command all 18 elements as if he was born to do so!
A complex weaving on a much smaller scale was revealed and the Elemental saw it lift up the prone human. A shimmering glow of gold surrounded them.
"Satisfied? All weavers under me can only use their own soul. We train to help them strengthen and refine their souls as safely as possible to do so. Are you going to answer my questions now?" Lind Frey was still angry but the Elemental was full of doubts.
The demonstration was real but it would mean the Frey Clan could produce weavings of all elements solely with their own effort. How?! Everyone knew weaving was severely limited due to legitimate work affected the soul of the user.
It was so common knowledge that everyone had a dim view of it if there were strong weavers. A few races were able to go far due to their inherently strong souls, but humans certainly could not. Demons were the same.
Aether children could be strong weavers but it was damned rare. Beasts varied depending on how powerful their bloodline was.
Thus, it became known if a weaver had strength but was human or demon, they had to be doing something nefarious. Whether that was allowing others to pay the price or whatever would usually invoke the ire of the righteous powers.
There was, however, an exception.
Elementals were not on equal footing. Their existence was already so fleeting and complicated that their numbers were much lower than the others. Thus, many turned a blind eye so long as they can gain the power of weaving.
Formations were more widespread but weaving could incorporate far more flexible effects that formations could not.
[H–how are you doing that?!] Their shock could not be contained but an emerald flame instantly appeared in his right hand.
"I am a 6 elemental. Something that is public knowledge I thought. I learned new elemental theories that also unlocked more weaving potential for all races. Still, it takes a lot of resources for humans and demons to achieve the results I can alone." Lind Frey was suddenly surrounded by 18 orbs of elemental power and they felt nothing but awe looking at it.
The rumors about Lind Frey went through their head. Rumors that were too good to be true but now they saw it! He really had all 18 elements at his command!
[Y–you don't use Elementals as fuel?] Lind Frey's eyes went wide before he dismissed the barrier holding them.
"Follow me." He picked up the floating human and they left the vault. Guards were waiting with a healer in pale gold robes. The healer took the human but the guards had their swords ready.
Lind Frey merely ordered them to follow and they moved down restricted corridors. Strangely, the guards had to wait for Lind Frey to give them authority to enter.
There were no humans at all! Demons were also absent.
They did see a single aether child but they were clearly a servant or young disciple as they were rushing with a job to do. The courtyards were also odd.
Normal courtyards had benches, cultivation mats, and other typical humanoid necessities but these ones were vastly different.
There were various elemental crystals glowing with power and the Elemental felt their injuries healing at a rapid pace! They also felt Laws and realized Law crystals had been carefully nurtured as well!
They were supposed to be rare but the tiny versions floating with the help of weavings were nothing compared to natural ones. Why had nothing of this leaked out?!
It was only as they turned the corner to a massive hall that Lind Frey paused. The room was dense with what seemed like floating elemental streams but there were also solid forms!
Elemental! Hundreds of them! How?! Why?!
"Soltarakaren, are you here?" The storm of Qi slowed before a gathering began and a woman appeared with a grim visage. She seemed displeased to be called out by him but glanced with confusion at the Elemental.
"I am in the midst of preparing to become a Radiant Tier. Why have you come, Lind Frey?" The Elemental realized the woman was unstable! She was about to progress!
"This person killed people to infiltrate our vault in the belief we were using your people for weavings. I am afraid I had no other way to convince them as I suspect I know where they come from now." The woman's aura slammed into the Elemental but others coalesced around her or walked from across the room.
They were all Elementals!
"How dare you?! The Frey Clan has never done anything to us. In fact, we owe the Clan much as they have worked to include us in the upper echelons of power. Further, only the Frey Clan has helped nurture the young to grow in numbers unheard of!" The Elemental felt danger as their core strained against the pressure of her Crystal Tier strength.
Lind Frey did nothing. It was clear he had left their fate in her hands!
[G-great Senior! We assumed they used lies of a new technique like so many others! They never revealed the tru–] They felt a slap to their core and realized another solid had moved forward.
"How much more should they give?! They spread the elemental theories, weaving fundamentals, and finally offer sermons! Did none of you think to attend?" The young man was incensed but Lind Frey finally moved.
"If they are from where I think, they would not chance it. We all know what weaving guilds have allowed before my new techniques were confirmed. They are also actively trying to avoid using them as they would have to start over. We have only been made aware to them for a few centuries." The Elemental was shocked at his calm voice but the 2 solids looked at him coldly.
"You are going to simply let them leave?" Soltarakaren seemed like she would kill them right there but he shook his head.
"They have killed and must face justice but I would also like them to tell the truth. It will only invite more if I do nothing." Their gazes softened as they nodded.
"Then we will make them understand. Come, you have much to learn." Lind Frey let them take the Elemental away. He simply looked on as the complex was revealed to them. While crying was not possible for them, even as they solidified bodies, the Elemental wept.
They had been so wrong, so very very wrong!
The shadows behind weaving were coming to an end!
