Chapter 1283 - 1282 - Company is Coming

Chapter 1283 - 1282 - Company is Coming

Shoti frowned as the new information was being debriefed to them. Lind and other sources told them more about the Illusion Immortal. Some of it was public but Lind had sent them rather troubling information.

"So this bastard is bothering our sister but wants to kill our husband?" She looked at Cyntilla closely as the demoness nodded.

"From what was gathered, he had no ties to the Fiends but he does have his own ambitions. He is trying to become a Divine Realm by any means and Lind offers the best chance in many ways." Cyntilla was looking grim at those words.

The Divine Realm was not an easy hurdle. Many thought Immortals were the ultimate goal given how difficult it was to get there, but Divine Realm was the true goal for many.

Immortals could measure their lives in millions of years but Divine Realms used billions.

It was also possible that the peak of the Divine Realm used epochs.

Thus, many Sovereign Tiers used any method possible to breakthrough. Stealing other techniques, knowledge, or even Arts was not beyond them. Most Sovereign Tiers did not do that openly but it was acknowledged most sought some short cut to the next realm.

Beasts were a notable exception to that issue.

Most of them simply did battle or let their instincts guide them down the path of cultivation to the inevitable conclusions.

Shoti moved past the obvious and asked the question she worried about.

"Will he come?" Both of them knew Lind would be vicious if his family was threatened but Cyntilla shook her head.

"He trusts us, plus you know him. He will honor Annabelle's choice." A flash of sadness filled the virulent green eyes but Shoti shared it.

Lind was repentant but that was not enough for some of them. Shoti respected him to face his consequences. It was why she was able to stay with him.

Others, however, could not and she accepted that too. Lind even left the Frey Clan open to them not out of guilt but out of honest connections they all had.

"So what else do we know?" She caressed the handle of her whip and Cyntilla summoned a new jade slip.

"The Serenity Sect cannot betray a client but one of the former Moebius Sect informed us of a group that matches the Trio and their possible successors arriving a few weeks ago." Shoti sunk her aura into it and saw the strange group.

She frowned as she saw the strange Trio in sync so perfectly that even she could tell they were not entirely human.

No one could be that in sync without massive modifications.

"What are they?" She looked at Cyntilla who looked a bit angry.

"Little more than puppets! There is some kind of dark modification but even Lind is not sure. He only knows a natural born being could not move like that. He suspects their souls and bodies have been modified." Shoti disdained it but she knew Cyntilla took it personally.

Shoti may have been a warrior but Cyntilla took it far more seriously than she did. She could tease, disrupt, and even cheat but Cyntilla would not do any of that.

Pity, life could be far easier than what she chose to follow.

"How long before they get here?" It was a critical question but not one that could be easily answered. Artifacts, ships, and even individuals had various speeds they could achieve.

Lind was a massive outlier at being able to cross to any area he had been to but most could cross massive leaps of space if they had Qi or Laws to support them.

"We are unsure but they summoned a spherical artifact. If it is a peak Law Grade artifact, we can assume it would take a month at most to cross the distance from here to the Serenity Sect." Shoti nodded at her words.

Ethry and the 2 lackeys were patrolling but they had to be informed that company was coming.

"What do we know about them?" Cyntilla shook her head in denial of her request.

"While they are famous, or maybe infamous would be better, the specific information is limited. They can definitely conjure devastating elemental attacks or use Arts in tandem that could easily breach our defenses here or in the Clan." Shoti frowned at those words.

While experts might be able to pull off combination Arts after years of practice, the abilities described still exceeded what people should be able to pull off.

Puppets were supposed to be mindless so how could potential puppets act like the ones coming for them?

The pair discussed strategies for scouting and intercepting the force incoming if they could but both women knew the Trio likely had techniques or Arts to bypass most of their defenses.

They assumed the worst case scenario and informed their sisters and allies. It might not help but it certainly would not hurt.

Shoti was then walking down a corridor to see Annabelle. She had volunteered to reveal the truth of the Illusion Immortal's goals. It would not sit well with her for certain.

She moved like a ghost past the traps and illusions until she came to Annabelle's quarters. She smiled to see real decorations hanging from the bedposts and walls at last.

It was far better than using only illusions arrays.

"Shoti!" Annabelle smiled wide and ran into her for a hug. Shoti smiled and wished Annabelle could make up with Lind for a moment. She pushed it aside and hugged her hard.

"You need to eat more, Little Illusion." Shoti used her own nickname for the woman and she smacked her but playfully. They chatted until Shoti brought up the recent information they had discovered.

Annabelle became angry for a bit but then sighed as she processed it.

"I may not be able to stand him, but I am glad he respects my position. I am glad he has gone back to his old ways for all of you." Shoti almost put a hand to her face in frustration. Why couldn't Annabelle forgive him?!

She suppressed her desire to ask and kept on with more pressing matters.

"We estimate they will be here in 1 to 2 weeks at minimum. Your defenses were not bad but if we are dealing with 10 Radiant Tiers, we need to make some adjustments." Annabelle nodded but then smirked.

"I have some old traps I can activate for this!" Shoti looked surprised but then felt the shift in elements around them. Annabelle was far more adept at adjusting her formations compared to anyone Shoti knew.

She pitied their enemies for a moment as they had drastically inaccurate information to work with.

"Just promise not to kill them outright. We need all the information or proof we can get if we appeal to our allies." The only people at Phantom Peak were from the Frey Clan or formerly from it.

No one else.

It would be good to have proof of vile acts to protect her sister from future issues.

Unfortunately, their enemy covered his tracks with mercenaries or other disjointed teams that suddenly had support from a powerful figure.

It was hardly a new tactic but the current team was directly associated with the Illusion Immortal. If that group could be captured, it would help immensely!

Annabelle smirked as she ran off to prepare her formations for the invaders to come. Shoti moved down the fortress until she came across Fey and Illyria sparring. She observed how far they had come.

Fey was a monster on 2 legs without question. Shoti had no confidence in beating her head on.

Illyria, however, clearly lacked offensive ability. Defensive ability she left them all in the dust. Her attack, however, was very lacking.

Chu was the exact opposite. She hardly cared about defense but her offense was terrifying. She was easily on par with Shoti or Cyntilla.

Shoti moved on before reaching the docks. She quickly summoned an artifact that looked like a surfboard. She activated the weavings that locked her feet in place before launching into the sky.

Compared to her own flying, it was far more efficient but the major thing was the formations for scanning her surroundings.

She infused her Qi and a massive scan that covered hundreds of kilometers before her eyes went wide!

A large sphere was in range and closing. They were at the peak! She sent out a warning and moved back into the fortress. They had barely prepared before the mists thickened to the point of making it seem like the entire range was just clouds.

"Shoti, you are certain?" Lysanna was walking up the same corridor and asked her to confirm what was coming.

"The reports were accurate. The sphere is faster than we realized but it will be here in 4 days at most." Lysanna paled but nodded. She then ran off before Shoti could ask some questions.

The fortress was abuzz with activity as Shoti arrived at the meeting room. It was large enough to hold over 100 people but only a dozen had come together.

Annabelle was at the head of the table looking a bit harried now, yet the rest of her Sisters and daughters were there for her. She clearly took solace in that and smiled at them all.

Cyntilla stepped up and began to expound on hold to honor and the estimated arrival of their enemies.

It was only 2 days. Shoti smirked as she relished the chaos to come. She would disrupt her enemies and leave them weeping for mercy!

The impromptu war council discussed avenues of attack and places to reinforce before they arrived.

It was going to be a bloodbath, but Shoti smiled wide. Chaos meant she could reveal her full power at last!

Spirits have mercy on the incoming forces, because no one else would.
