Chapter 1244 - 1243 - Time Slip
Chapter 1244 - 1243 - Time Slip
Lind had been surprised at how tired he was later but he recovered very quickly as well. What he did not grasp was what was exhausted compared to what recovered. He saw all 18 elements flow into him as he recovered but it was not like there were any organs or other structures to recover it to.
His existence did not flicker anywhere so he had to assume a soul consumed Qi as a whole but he had never seen a soul recover with the few he had interacted with for a long time.
The ancient dragon souls had spent their strength but he could only recall them becoming very weak or dying entirely afterward.
The only human soul he had met did not count as it had tried to possess him and he killed it with karmic retribution.
Yet even that being was reluctant to exert themselves. He confirmed the spirit world was a place souls could thrive!
He was unsure how long he was examining his recovery process when the old woman suddenly appeared. He never sensed her arrival, she just appeared fully formed.
He really needed to work on that!
"We have reached an accord with our counterpart integrated with Heaven and Earth. They also seem to want to talk to you." A frown crossed his face. What did that mean? He recalled his vindictive stint as pursuing power and blaming Heaven and Earth for all his woes but did they really care about that?
He followed her and was not sure what he would have expected but there was no portal, formation, or any other gateway. Instead, it was like his senses all ceased to function as suddenly between one step and the next the world became streaks of light.
He could no longer expand his aura and he felt like his solidity evaporated until he stumbled when a stark white room appeared around him.
The old woman was there but she seemed odd to him now. It was like she was no longer a real being to him. What was going on?
The room was solid but he could not identify the substance. In fact, his senses felt so dull now. He slowly realized what had happened.
He was how souls were in the cultivation world if they survived their body! He felt so weak but there was still power inside him. He was able to stabilize himself but held back on doing more than that.
He slowly looked around and narrowed his eyes as he realized the room was rigid compared to the chaos he was getting used to. He also suddenly felt like time was more important!
How long had he been in the spirit world?! Why had he not cared before?!
[The Origin World has no time as you understand it. The weight of the flow is not there so it no longer weighs on your heart, Lind Frey.] A voice suddenly entered his thoughts. He felt a familiar pressure and turned to see a man sitting at a table that had not been there before.
He noticed the old woman was frowning looking at him. Lind slowly examined him and also began to frown.
If the old woman felt unreal to him, the man was the exact opposite. It was like he was exerting his existence over them both and a feeling of arrogance came with it.
"We can understand you perfectly fine, Oresh. This is unnecessary." The man had long black hair and pale skin but his eyes were ever shifting like the other spirits he knew. His robes were as white as the room which made it odd to look at him.
The table was a stark obsidian but Lind also noticed it had no other chairs for him and the old woman to sit. The reluctance of the spirits to engage with Heaven and Earth made some more sense.
[He was the one that asked to see us. I will act according to the protocols.] As the man spoke, the more Lind frowned.
He was about to speak when the table suddenly vanished and Oresh was looking with irritation as a svelte woman walked in with silver robes. She had cascading hair in waves that shifted through all 18 elements as her eyes looked with disdain at Oresh.
"It was agreed that I would talk to the Emerald Dragon Immortal." Lind narrowed his eyes at her. Why did she call him by his Dao title and not his name?
The man used his name, even if he made it sound like he was an insect when he said it.
Oresh sneered and the pressure began to build between them to the point pain actually surfaced in Lind. His very existence was being strained.
His harmony reacted and the room suddenly changed. All 3 spirits swiveled their eyes to him but he was too immersed in the explosion in his senses.
Time. The room was made of Time and Space! The Daos of those 2 comprised the totality of the room!
His emerald eyes glowed as his body began to slowly unravel.
[STOP!] The woman's voice shook him as he stopped his harmony and he noticed even Oresh looked shocked at him. Lind realized half his body was gone!
He felt like he was barely holding on as the remaining energy redistributed to restore his shape. He was much fainter yet he grasped something important from the strange experience.
"No time has passed since I lost my body?" The spirits looked surprised but the old woman was the one that answered.
"I tried to explain to you that time is not a variable for us. It is not that we do not understand the basics of the concept but time has passed for the cultivation world but not for you." Lind felt a headache coming.
How in blazes could time both pass and not pass unless the streams were not wholly dependent on each other in the first place?!
[HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT?!] Oresh slammed him into the wall. His shoulder vanished but before things could settle, Oresh was suddenly snatched away. Lind did not even have time to process when a gentle aura washed over him.
He felt much better and saw the woman in silver robes was flowing something into him.
"My apologies, Emerald Dragon Immortal. Not all of us are pleased with cultivators let alone ones that have had such direct effects on Heaven and Earth." Lind slowly nodded but really wished he could just see his family and friends.
One of the walls suddenly sparked like a television and a familiar sight was revealed. It was the Frey Clan in the 1st layer! He also saw the Rubyfire Empire on another wall and realized all the walls were showing him places he never thought to see again!
The Moebius Sect had thrived in his mortal realm to the point it had become a continental power on par with the Heavenly Maiden Sect and Drakmor Kingdom.
The Floating Isles had become far more advanced as cooperative alliances were nurtured long after he left. The Moebius Sect there had become clearly the main branch too while still living in harmony with the beasts.
The most shocking change was the Heaven Realm lands. The endless war was over!
Still, war endured. The Sanctuary Empire spanned a massive stretch of land beyond what he recalled but he noticed some ugly battles on its borders. Some were human powers but others were still Fiends too.
His eyes narrowed as he realized some oddities.
He recognized people here or there that he knew for a fact were Immortals but seemed to be only Heaven Realms in some images while others were Immortals that he had last known were only at the World Realm!
He walked around the room before understanding came to him.
"We are beyond Time here?" The 2 spirits nodded. It made his head hurt as he slowly grasped his situation. "So, hypothetically, if I got a body back or was allowed back, when would I arrive?"
The old woman looked at the woman in silver.
She seemed to contemplate before answering when she sighed and 3 chairs appeared around a simple oak table with a tea set steaming on it.
"We have a stronger grasp of Time than the Origin World. The issue is we are not able to bend the rules anymore than you could. Even if Time Laws were applied, you should grasp the limitations." Lind sipped at the tea and felt his soul recover even more.
He knew of a few teas that souls could enjoy like that but he pushed the random thought aside as he contemplated the few Time Laws he had touched on. He slowly nodded as he understood.
"The past cannot be changed but the future can be shifted or divined." The woman nodded with a smile. "Still, I don't have a reference for this."
The 2 women also nodded at that.
"To put it simply, you cannot return to the moment you left as time has passed for you even while it froze around you. The relative pressure has to be relieved according to the rules." Lind understood!
He had existed so his personal flow of time had progressed but the world around him did not! The spirit world was truly chaotic! When he tried to return, the relative time had to be resolved or he would suffer the strain.
"I will slip forward a commensurate amount of time?" She nodded but then shook her head.
"Slip is a good term as it is not so fixed. You would go forward from the day you left the cultivation world but your direct time cannot be measured normally. It could be 1000 years or 10 days. There is no way to know." He put a hand to his head.
"Is there no way to regulate it a bit?" He would prefer to shoot for less time for obvious reasons but he was surprised when the woman nodded.
"All you have to do is create a physical body for yourself and it can be used as a frame of reference due to its nature compared to a pure soul existence." Lind stared at them with his jaw dropped.
Just make a body?! Was that all?!
