Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1228 - 1227 - Secrets

Chapter 1228 - 1227 - Secrets

Lind snapped his tail at the Fiend which tore the fabric of space asunder. The void lay beyond but neither man paid much heed to it.

Their fight was ripping the layer apart as they were both using full power. If it was a normal cultivator, Lind would be in serious trouble but his harmony was the perfect counter to his enemy's Qi.

The soulless creatures were not so immune to the side effects. Hundreds were swallowed into the void where the connection was clearly cut. He saw many ripped apart by the wild forces inside the void.

He had no time to pay attention to much else.

[You will become fuel for our Master's rise! Your bones will become the weapons to reap the lives of your loved ones! You will–] Lind roared as emerald flames sliced outward like a LASER beam.

He did not engage verbally as he simply focused on killing his opponent.

The Fiend was aware of the danger of his harmony as he dodge the flames easily. Lind summoned a few elixirs and shattered the vials. The Fiend did not take chances while he flitted through space.

Lind sneered as the elixirs were not harmonic but poisonous!

The invisible threat was spread by air Qi at his command. The Fiend coughed and began to bleed from his orifices!

A surge of soulless arrived but Lind simply used his fine mane hairs to pierce each one. They fell from the sky or were swallowed by the open tears into the void as if they were nothing.

The Fiend then sneered as he waved his hand as the various soulless shifted back to the city.

If attacking Lind was fruitless, then the original goal was fine. Lind could not spare a thought to the Knife Edge Bazaar as the Radiant Tier Fiend could level the place with some small effort.

Now that the residents were fighting for their lives, he had no doubt the Fiend would succeed.

[You abandon your–] The words of the Fiend were cut short as an obsidian and virulent green flames appeared in their senses. He smiled as the Fiend looked disturbed.

[It seems your leader is a slow learner.] Lind's baiting comment made the Fiend attack in full but emerald flames dispersed it into natural Qi. It was a warm breeze by the time it got to his body.

Lind's harmony was not the only threat. He knew Kexin and Tessa's harmonies would not be effective against the Fiend but the soulless were fodder so far as they were concerned.

His maw opened but the Fiend only saw the flame as a threat when the 3 horns lit up and the 3 sets of elements appeared as orbs that made 3 more emerald flame variants.

The 4 beams were impossible to avoid as he cornered the bastard at last.

The Fiend suddenly summoned a sphere of dark metal that made the entire world dim.

Shock filled Lind as it was a grade 8 artifact! The Fiend withered visibly as his Qi was consumed by the sphere. The sacrifice was clear but Lind did not care.

His claws lit up as a weaving quickly coalesced that enclosed the Fiend entirely. The sigils were lined in emerald fire as the ward closed in. The traces broke as vile Qi broke out but it was haphazard compared to a cohesive attack it could have been.

All 4 of his claws snapped out Battle Aura at the peak of his skill. The Fiend lost his left arm and right leg but still lived!

[I will destroy you!] The words seemed comical as the Fiend was now physically crippled. Hope bloomed but then Lind felt his aura spike as something drew his attention.

A fresh wave of soulless arrived!

They were flying as fast as their wings would propel them but he narrowed his emerald eyes in the direction past them as he saw a golden figure dash out.

Lina was doing something but he had no time to observe as he had to wipe out the fresh units.

The Fiend recovered completely as he dealt with the hundreds of soulless attacking him. If the bastard could summon that many at will, it would be a near impossible battle.

Dark figures fell out of the sky but many broke through and attacked Lind directly. Unlike others, however, his harmonic infused soul destroyed the soulless to the consternation of the Fiend.

[Damn you!] Lind smiled at the frustration in the mental voice and continued to slaughter the wave of soulless as quickly as possible.

He focused on the Fiend but then a dark smile made him pause. Why was the vile being smiling?

[I will admit you are more powerful than expected but your view is too narrow. Did you think I was alone here?] Lind narrowed his eyes but his aura was too disrupted by the battle to locate any more Fiends.

He knew one had died as that was what drew out his current target but the man slowly lost his smile as he glanced back to where they had come from.

Lind looked there and his eyes lit up before he saw the slightly phased distortion. His mane flared as filaments shattered a formation.

A pure black bridge was exposed!

The Fiends had their own bridges?! He quickly attacked the Fiend once more but the man deflected but his once confident attitude evaporated as he kept glancing sternly at the bridge.

Something was wrong but Lind had no time to find out what. He just kept up his frenzy of Arts and flames. The Fiend finally seemed to realize his hopes were not being answered by whatever he expected.

[What did you do?! How did you block the twisted bridge?!] The question made Lind realize the Fiend was in the dark but he only smirked as he finally struck a blow to his left shoulder.

The Fiend's arm vanished but he sliced off his own flesh to prevent his harmonic Qi from spreading. He regrew his arm at an alarming pace without a pill or any aid he could tell.

He expected more reinforcements in the form of Fiends, but the bridge was not working the way it should. Why not? What secret was working in his favor?

The instant he thought that a shocking possibility appeared. He sent his aura flaring in all directions. Unlike before where he was unsure where to look, he was able to quickly scan the area he left Lina.

She was not there! The Fiend seemed to interpret his actions as confirmation as he snarled with vile Qi becoming a solid shape.

Space warped around it as he realized it was a peak Radiant Tier attack!

[Lance of Unmaking!] The Fiend invoked the name but it seemed to complete the Art as the world retreated from it.

Vile energies coursed along the sharpened length of the lance. It was nearly 2 meters long but that was all he could take in as it cut reality itself. Lind felt pain before it even arrived!

His harmony would be too slow to break it up! If he moved, however, the Bazaar would be struck by it and all would die. His scaled claw moved and let it impale his body.

He lost all feeling in his claw at that moment as blood fountained from the puncture. Dark laughter came from the Fiend.

[I was told to take you alive if possible but death is fine too. Your soul will be obliterated with your body. This is your end!] The vile Qi tried to flow in his meridians but his emerald eyes narrowed as flames scorched his own limb. The lance, once so terrifying, became a fragile construct.

It cracked and then scattered on the winds to the shock of the Fiend. His own claw was destroyed but that was a small problem.

The Fiend in front of him was strong but hardly seemed to strain himself to make that lance. He should be drained after their constant fighting and conjuring such a powerful attack.

Yet, he looked as fresh as a flower greeting the dawn. How?

Was there a massive difference between Radiant Tier and Crystal Tier Fiends?

He doubted it. It meant there was something more to being a Radiant Tier than just furthering the Laws an Immortal grasped. Was that why he was stuck? No one had mentioned anything to–

He sighed internally as he had actively ignored people. Some things were taken for granted to the point they became a secret without a master to teach them.

It was like how each generation had norms they developed due to technology or a shared experience but those outside their group had no idea at all. Secrets came in all shapes and sizes that way. The lance was like that.

Just what had the Fiend done?

[What did you do?! How are you alive? You should have been unmade!] That word came up but Lind frowned. Unmade? As in oblivion? Why not use that word instead?

He quickly pieced something together and the bottleneck that refused to move finally loosened. He let his Qi flow for a bit and a shape began to appear around him. It was vague, large, and unstable.

He was so close to something vital that he could taste it but at that moment he felt a pull on his soul. He glanced downward and narrowed his eyes.

[It would seem we have to finish this another time.] The Fiend was confused but then Lind felt space shift around him.

While he was distant for the last 1300 years, for the person that knew his true name he had taken measures to ensure her safety. Chiefly, if her life was in danger, she had a rather special artifact as part of her robes.

It only had a single use but what it did was good enough. Lind was pulled across space by an emergency teleportation!
