Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1203 - 1202 - Infested Tower

Chapter 1203 - 1202 - Infested Tower

A thrall was much more rare for obvious reasons but they still existed. No one had any idea how they were new ones being made but they were still found on occasion. Lind was happy that man had insulted him now.

A disturbing smile spread on his face before he felt vile Qi appear all around him. Tainted spears too? Someone really went all out.

None of it mattered to him.

Emerald flames swept outward like a wave. The crack of the spear shafts filled the air to the shock of all the men present. It was only at that moment that another sickening fact was revealed.

While there were some humans, they always had demon commanders. It followed there should be a corresponding set of demon officers. Where were they?

With a wave of his elements, the bleeding figure was healed.

"Where are the demons?" The chaos bought him time as he kept the thrall in his sight. The man was well muscled but pale as a ghost when he realized how ineffective the spears were.

The fluffy ears revealed the beast was a fox of some kind. He also noted one of their eyes was still dim. An elixir would be needed for a full recovery.

"They–they–they used them like objects! They–they did horrible things to the commander and the women." The temperature suddenly bottomed out as ice spread like it was alive.

[None of you will leave here alive!] Lind became a blur as shouts were heard. The armored man tried to turn but his legs vanished in spurts of crimson and emerald. A searing pain was felt before he collapsed on the ground screaming.

"You hold on a moment. I will be right back." It was a one sided slaughter. The highest cultivation was only Shard Tier but he did not care about bullying the weak in the current circumstances. His aura swept the tower thanks to the door being open.

He found exactly what the fox beast had told him about. The screams stopped as he flew down into the tower. New screams were heard as 3 more thralls were found. He also found a Fiend array on the bottom floor.

No wonder he felt nothing until they were revealed. It had a similar effect to the Void of Heaven. He noted its inscriptions and broke the array.

He found not only female demons, but humans as well. He also found some male demons and humans set up in macabre rooms that would not be out of place in a horror show. He healed the bodies but their minds were a very different matter.

Strangely, none of their dantians were harmed, only sealed by vile collars. He shattered them all and kept ripping out every trace of the Fiends until he returned to the top of the tower.

A small girl with a fluffy golden tail and ears was looking scared out of her mind at the various bodies around her.

He ignored her as he found his final prey.

The man was crawling with his arms and trying to get to the stairs for some reason. Now that the array was gone, Lind could feel it. A Fiend communication stone!

He calmly walked through the blood and severed body parts before grasping the man by the scruff of his neck like a cat. His balding head was still ringed by black hair.

It showed he was old. For a Shard Tier, that meant he had been alive for millions of years but the feeling of being a thrall was new.

"In such a hurry to call for help? Your masters did not trust you with a personal artifact to reach them? Oh, by the way, I can see you too, Fiend filth." If his voice was cold for other cultivators, right then it could freeze souls!

There was no righteousness in his eyes, only the desire to make the Fiends pay. His weaving quickly isolated the thrall's soul from its master. He felt an increase in Fiend Qi but it came to nothing.

He had no doubt they were shocked by that as the man's dark eyes widened in horror!

"Wha–?!" He was sent flying the next instant into the far wall. Lind calmly stood up and walked over to him. He was quite careful that the man did not die but a few broken ribs were fine.

He passed the child who whimpered as he passed but that was all the notice he gave.

He came to the concave part of the wall and found the man whimpering with a snot covered face.

"Suddenly realizing regrets so late? Or understanding your dream of eternal life was just an illusion?" The man paled at his words. Lind did not care. The interrogation was all that mattered.

A very different kind of scream left the man for the rest of the day until new silence fell. The little fox girl had run away at the first one he thought but Lind stepped back from what had once been a human shaped pile of blood.

He burned it to ash for good measure as well as the other bodies.

"Are you the highest authority left?" He spoke to the air but a shadow emerged from the doorway. A tired but much better looking demon with ragged tan robes on him. His lithe figure was better as an assassin than the vice commander badge he wore on his collar.

His eyes were a dull silver but he looked at Lind as if he was unsure if he was a friend or foe.

"You are the Emerald Immortal, correct?" Lind arched his eyebrow at the demon. Was his hair not–

It was only then he noticed the blood all over him before the glow of emerald flames covered his body. His dark robes and vibrant emerald scales and hair were exposed once more.

"I am." His voice was neutral once more but the demon put a fist to his heart.

"I thank you for avenging my commander and my comrades. The thralls were very craft–" Lind held up his hands.

"They were here to allow the soulless to pass unnoticed and that has already happened. They have been circling around to the central tower at least a few days past." The demon frowned before he quickly caught a golden vial. "That elixir will heal the girl's eyes."

He then went to fly but the demon called out.

"We have many injured here that need critical help! Can you not stay?!" Lind narrowed his eyes. The fox girl must have mentioned he healed her.

"I set out the pills to heal already. Use your own strength to recover and prepare. The soulless will no doubt come back soon." He then left the tower with a direction in mind.

He had his own goals and any lingering feelings of guilt stopped appearing a century ago. He felt an itch in his throat but that was all.

Lind let the winds carry him to his next battlefield and his fists cracked sa he knew he was likely too late. The central tower was critical to the others so infiltrating past one of the outer towers was a coup for the Fiends.

He had to find the source of the soulless and hope it could stop them all. Getting bogged down in each and every problem he crossed would take too long!

A flash of Delenn crossed his mind but he shattered it the moment it appeared. He just kept pushing his speed to find the soulless and resume his study of them.

Vice Commander Dar looked defeated. He was shaking in his legs as the memories of what he just realized was a few days and not months as he thought flashed through him. His anchor of hope just left but a whimper drew his eye.

The shaking stopped as he saw the crying Lina. He took the stopper out of the vial and felt his own body react to it.

"It is all right, the bad men are all gone." He had her drink the elixir and the gentle glow covered her entire body as the light returned to her eyes. It was a powerful Immortal Grade elixir!

She blinked before reaching out to be held and he took her in. His body calmed and he simply let her cry. How much had she suffered in those days as well? It was horrible but a Heaven Realm fox beast had excellent senses to overcome the unique restrictions of the Whisper Peaks.

An Immortal would be better but there was just not enough to go around.

"He was scary! So scary. The scars are so deep and he is hurting so much! Why? Why does he have to suffer so?" Her words shocked him! He knew who she was talking about as he looked to the sky.

The Emerald Immortal was suffering? He was hurt? He did not look it at all!

Still, her instincts were better than his by far. He did not contradict her and walked back into the tower. He saw a small group on the next floor look up hopefully but he shook his head.

"He has gone to fight the soulless and warned us to prepare. I will get the secret signal stone. I still know where it must be. The commander would have used the formation to hide it so even she did not know where it was." He felt pain in his heart at her death once more but the shivering bundle in his arms steadied him.

Needing to comfort calmed his own shaken heart. His Dao heart, which had fractured to nothing, seemed to reform at lightning speed. The Emerald Immortal was hurting but summoned his strength. He can do no less!
