Lind was floating. He knew he was floating because there was no sensation of the ground beneath him. Gravity seemed to have no hold on him which felt oddly satisfying but confusing.
He had become used to the stamina drain when trying to fly but he felt nothing as he slowly opened his eyes to a shocking sight.
He was in his human body slowly floating down but there was no strain at all. His eyes easily saw the edge of the land.
That was right, he saw the edge of the land!
The land came to an end hundreds of kilometers out! He saw the land itself glow with Qi, rich and peak Crystal Tier quality in all directions! Beasts, plants, and soil were enriched by Immortal Qi!
He saw flows of air, light, and water acted to protect life on the surface in a delicate dance that kept the temperature comfortable but would not prevent rain or wind from acting on it.
The clouds were actually below and above them! The Rubyfire Kingdom had returned to the skies!
How?! He vaguely recalled a sensation of fading away but now he felt good. Really good. His body was in total sync as Qi flowed through his meridians.
Only with the comparison did he realize how much power was wasted moving through his flesh.
His comprehension still held him back but high Law Grade seemed easy to achieve! It was only then that he noticed his shocking cultivation level.
Peak Crystal Tier! He was in the midst of stabilizing it but it was going far easier than any previous breakthrough. His body was instinctively helping his dantian stabilize and transfer Qi to all parts of his body.
"I really need to find out if the other 6 elementals need to do this soon." Not all harmonies would, he could already grasp that, but some definitely would. Kexin for instance definitely would.
Her Harmony of Domination would not allow an inferior body to endure.
He pushed all his thoughts aside as Jur nearly tackled him in tears followed by Mills and Katerina. Why were they crying?
Chu was even misty eyed as she embraced the group.
He noticed Adan was seething in anger but restrained for some reason. The man was clearly back to normal but why was he restrained?
Lind had no time to ponder as more Immortals appeared.
It was only then that he realized they were flying! They were all flying!
His aura shot outward like a rocket with no impediment whatsoever.
Pure Qi was all around them. There was no Corruption at all! What was going on?!
His confusion was apparent so Chu sent him a rundown of all that occurred after the 9th lightning strike. He also felt that for a moment, everyone connected to him thought he had died!
His memory was hazy of that moment. He remembered the pain of the strike and fearing death but then nothing until his eyes opened on his way down.
A familiar aura washed over the growing group and Lind shot his eyes wide open to see the still living soul of the Dragon-phoenix! It was nearly gone in vitality but still alive! It even seemed slightly recovered!
[True Lord, you have restored my lands to its proper place in the skies. My old master also seemed to help. It will not last but by my reckoning, the Corruption will take nearly 500 thousand years to breach the current defenses. Can you feel it?]
Lind let his body truly feel the air before grasping what he meant.
Emerald Qi! His harmony was woven into the very essence of the floating land!
It was his Immortal Qi that lit up the land!
"Ranger, get the others to the courtyard. I have to answer for what happened–" Lind began to give out orders but another familiar presence arrived over them all laughing.
Messages were flying like a storm and Lind did not need the skill to intercept them to know why.
He quickly sent a message to meet in 3 days before again gathering his group to leave.
He had to acclimate to his new strength before anything else and get some clothes on!
Guards were quickly organized the chaos as some landscapers and masons were brought in to evaluate the damage.
The sidewalk was obliterated where he had been standing but the buildings were only fractured.
Adan's villa had one wall destroyed but it was stable otherwise.
The man was brought with them but pushed to the side as Lind began to cultivate to finish stabilizing his foundation.
His flow of QI improved far more than he had hoped. His body felt more alive as his foundation was solidified as if it was as easy as breathing!
During that time, he was aware of the world all around him. His Law Touch seemed to perceive with ease what used to need his focus.
Was that the result of body and foundation being at the same level? He was unsure but focused on the final steps to consolidate his foundation.
Lind opened his eyes and found both Chu and Jur nearby cultivating. He smiled as they were clearly concerned.
"I will be right back." He was about to get up when Jur's hand shot out to grab his crimson robe. His black robe had been destroyed in the tribulation but his badges were safe in his ring.
Haro had not answered him since the tribulation but the ring was intact. He was not sure how given the destruction of his body he had seen, yet there it was.
He gently patted her head and she let him go.
He emerged to find a rather crowded main courtyard.
Princess Fyre, Piecer of the Veil Immortal, and Gilgamesh had come with Petryn and Teegan playing with Katerina and Shea in a corner.
Ranger was looking on warmly nearby as his daughter ran from Shea in a game of tag. Oz was relaxing in a corner but he seemed distracted. Lind filed that away as Lan and Bori came running up to him.
The 2 young men were looking concerned but he assured them he was fine as the 2 kids shortly ran up to him and tackled his legs.
He smiled and patted their heads until the adults gathered around.
"True Lord, I am so glad you are ok!" Teegan became misty eyed but he smiled wide back at her.
"I am fine, better than fine actually. I have many questions about all that happened to me but I have done the essentials for now. I will test my strength later." He confirmed only a day and a half had passed since he began cultivating.
It was nothing timewise but it meant he was not late either.
"Mother sends her regards but she will see you at the meeting. My Father—my Father arrived today." Petryn brought news that shocked the room aside from Princess Fyre. She clearly knew the Emperor had arrived.
"I have no doubt the other powers are traveling as well but time is not on anyone's side. Sigh." Lind suddenly let his aura fly outward until he could confirm the gateway was indeed inactive.
It was the version Teegan was in charge of producing, so it was a simple matter to lock it down. He had designed it after all. The operators were panicking but all it meant was that no one could arrive for the moment.
They would be stopped at the nearest gateway in the network.
"What did you just do, Lord Emerald Immortal?" Princess Fyre seemed to instantly know what he had done which surprised him but then she shared the same harmony as the Crimson Harmony Law Crystal. Likely she was just as in touch with the land as he was.
"I closed the door for now. It is only temporary but I have a feeling chaos would ensue if I did not stop the inflow now." She nodded her head of crimson hair and seemed to relax a bit. His words brought shock to the others, not least because he did it while standing in front of them.
Only Teegan seemed to grasp what he did at that point as she knew he was the origin of the new gateways.
"Don't worry. I simply need what will already be a headache-inducing meeting to resolve without new voices demanding to be heard. This is not my land but I am responsible for what has happened to it. The royal family and the 5 beast lords are the ones that ultimately must decide what they will do and I will give them that time." Petryn nodded in agreement as the rest smiled.
"Fellow Daoist Emerald Immortal, before you move on to business, can you at least spare a thought to fellow seers in the future?" Piercer of the Veil Immortal spoke up suddenly and Lind turned to her in confusion before realizing what must have happened.
"How bad was it?" She pointed at her eyes before sending him a message.
[My vision blacked out and my head nearly split open. The healers repaired the damage but I was the least affected. Others were nearly crippled as they had been in the midst of scrying future events.]
He felt bad about that. The tribulation was not the direct cause but the result was.
Lind had succeeded in forging his new path but it would have ripped the previous flow of events out of alignment. His goals had not changed but his potential getting there certainly had.
"Lord Emerald Immortal, aside from settling the issue of the Rubyfire Kingdom and the wilds of the 5 Beast Lords, was there anything else you sealed the gateway for?" It was the sole way on or off the land now. While flying inside it was fine, Gilgamesh was rightly concerned for the citizens he had defended in the last few centuries.
Lind smiled before waving his hand.
A projection of the land appeared but all familiar with the old map frowned. It was not how it was at all!
"I did not just raise the old land, but the new as well. I took it all, it seems." Shock flooded the entire room save the little kids who could not be bothered. They playfully ran around Lind's feet as all the adults absorbed what he had just said.
Not only had Lind restored the fallen lands, but had added to them?! The entirety of the Rubyfire Kingdom had been brought into the sky?! Even Lind had not known until he checked but the very first village he arrived at was at the border.
It still was. It was just inside the barrier protecting the floating lands and its fields were safely tucked away as well! The road just ended in the open sky!
"I do not want people claiming lands they had no interest in until all this happened. The Kingdom may choose to shrink or allow embassies but that is up to them, not me. As I said, all I will do is buy time." Gilgamesh bowed low as did Princess Fyre.
They were only a high power, even with the recent changes. Enough Immortals could make them bow no matter what. The upcoming meeting would be changing the course of all their lives but now they had the time to make it work!
