Chapter 1099 - 1098 - Yin Nurture Physique
Chapter 1099 - 1098 - Yin Nurture Physique
The soldiers were advancing on a group of children protecting a young woman with soft red hair. She looked terrified but she was only a World Realm Iron Tier. She was facing Heaven Realm soldiers that would easily swipe aside the children.
The older man was clearly of a higher status than the baron from before. Lind noticed Elder Sister Mills was trying to get the kids inside or to part in front of her but they refused.
Such loyalty spoke volumes to Lind.
"You cannot defy me! I will not be denied!" The man was practically frothing at the mouth. What was going on? Why was he so desperate?
What kind of physique would men pursue so much but not take the person themselves? What was he missing?!
[Lan, protect the children. Chu, protect the woman and take her from this place.] He decided to make a bit of a show. He wanted to see the reaction.
A black and white blur suddenly swept the area. The soldiers were strong but Lan had the blood of the white tiger in his body. A normal human was slow in his eyes in the same realm.
The soldiers were sent sprawling but the fists before they realized what was happening! The black blur swept up the woman before anyone realized and the kids started screaming to bring their Elder Sister back!
"NO! Find her! We must find her! Who dares to interfere in Count Paren's affairs?!" An Immortal aura started to spread out but was stopped cold by a much stronger one. Blood drained from the older man's face.
"Senior! I have done nothing wrong! I was promised my chance by–" Lind increased his aura and made the man shut up.
[I am a tolerant man but I draw the line at attacking children for any reason. If you do not give me a good excuse to kill you where you stand, you will be having a very bad day.] Lind used his bestail side to hide his identity.
The lords of the city would likely suspect him but none knew he was a dragon. They assumed he was human. In fact Gilgamesh had informed him beasts were usually asked to identify themselves on arrival but he had not been forced to.
"Tck, a measly beast has no say in this city! Begone!" The old man switched back to arrogance but then a clawed hand grasped his throat. The soldiers finally froze but there was no body attached to the arm.
It was an ethereal conjuring!
[Choose your next words carefully.]
The voice boomed in all that time as the noble looked around and saw his soldiers could not even stand! Only the children were safe!
"S-s-senior beast, I apologize. In my haste I spoke unwisely. Please forgive my rudeness." Silence greeted them but the claw vanished. Rubbing his throat he tried to find the source but no one was visible.
"Ahem, I was promised my chance with the young woman there. It is very important to my cultivation–" A spike in the aura made him clam up.
It was unfair! Why was he being punished for what he paid for?!
[This is your last chance. Explain or die.] The voice was cold and sent shivers done the count's spine.
"YIN NURTURE PHYSIQUE! The commoner has a Yin Nurture Physique!" Lind quickly reviewed the physiques he knew about before he found it. It was one of an expected pair.
Yin and Yang Nurture Physiques were damned rare but were highly sought after. The reason being they were incredibly helpful to the opposite gender for cultivating. Yin Nurture Physiques were always women that could help men by leaps and bounds with Yang being the reverse.
The method was not documented in the libraries he accessed. The reason being it varied. Some Yang Nurture Physiques could raise a veritable army of women to incredible heights but the owner had to dual cultivate with them constantly to do so.
Other times, the same physique could never touch a woman and only share a cultivation room with them. It was like the physique holder became a cultivation resource.
It could vary to extremes but one thing held true. The physique had to be unlocked to work. The method had to be determined.
Anger rose in him as he understood the scheme.
The nobles found she had the physique and were trying to determine how it manifested. She clearly was reluctant to leave the orphanage so they used it against her!
The sponsor, whoever that was, was building connections and earning resources by contracting nobles to try various methods. Clearly if they succeeded they would take the girl away.
Failure meant they punished her but could not kill her for it as they still wanted the physique. They used children! They had done probably unspeakable things yet the young woman faced it with a smile for the children!
The sponsor must use some kind of contract and using the guise of recruiting young talent hid it from more righteous figures in the kingdom.
He looked at the count and then his aura exploded!
A wave of Crystal Tier aura swept the city which made the once calming forces panic once more. The count blanched but then the voice pinned him in place.
[If you move, you die.] It was totally emotionless. He believed it!
Several Immortals tried to respond but Lind steamrolled them. They were suppressed by the Corruption even in the better environment. They could not find him yet but he did not concern himself as his voice echoed across the city.
[Oathbreaker! You will report to me within the day or suffer the consequences!] The Heavens rumbled as black clouds gathered. Any annoyance or anger evaporated at that instant.
Breaking an Oath to Heaven was grave. So grave that scouring a city was perfectly reasonable.
Lind retracted his aura and then glanced at the soldiers now looking pale as death but the other force was of more interest to him.
[Tell your employer I will deal with him in due course. The orphanage is no longer under his control.] A massive dome appeared around the orphanage that expelled all of the soldiers like they were so much trash, including the hidden ones!
Any expert with them noticed the aura was FAR above grade 7! It was a Law Grade ward! How did a formation master make it so quickly?!
Lind donned a black cloak to hide his features as he slowly floated down from the sky. Lan noticed his actions and also donned a similar cloak.
The children were all crying and panicking but then Chu brought back Elder Sister Mills who wept to see all the children safe. He noticed her limp and his anger surged.
[Chu, bring the boys here via another route. Do it publicly as if we are taking them home.] She looked confused at his orders but did as he asked. Lind had Lan look from the roof once more as he expected company soon.
Invoking an Oathbreaker would buy him some time but it would still elicit a response from the marquis of the city.
"Junior Mills, I would speak with you." He spoke but his voice was cold. He saw her flinch but she smiled at him and he recognized such a smile. It spoke of pain that had to be endured and it made him angry all over again.
"Thank you, senior, for protecting the children. If we can go inside in private–" He held up his hand to stop her.
"I have grasped part of it but there is one thing I am unclear on. Who is the sponsor?" He saw her pale but slowly nod. The children looked curiously between the pair but they did not feel afraid of the new visitor.
"He is the Minister of Finances. I had to present myself to him to take over the orphanage. I was tested and found appropriate but it was there they discovered I had a physique." He saw the pained expression on her face. "He told me to take over the orphanage and he would find a way to activate it as it was dormant. I did not understand what he meant but now I do."
Lind slowly nodded before he felt something break in his soul. Shock spread as he realized the baron was dead! It was not the Heavens, but another cultivator!
A headache was forming as the black clouds scattered from the sky. Since the target was dead, they could no longer act. He looked at the kids and made a decision.
[Chu, change of plans. Make room in the suite. We are going to have a lot of guests.] Lan vanished as the wards came down.
Lind walked forward and raised his hands. He felt a strain but the air distorted around the group before the entire orphanage vanished!
Wiping his brow, he leapt into the air and also disappeared to all apparent intents and purposes. He leapt over the roofs until he was back at the Golden Vermillion Inn. He found the same woman waiting for him with a smile.
"I was warned you caused issues, valued guest, but I must say you shattered my expectations." He looked up at her and his eyes were as cold as ice.
"I have a line and they crossed it. Will you betray me?" She bowed low and touched the double door behind her. It distorted and he saw his suite beyond it!
"On the contrary, please relax and let us deal with any insects that come crawling." He bowed low and walked in. Once inside his suite's entrance, the air distorted above his head to reveal the shocked faces of Mills and the children.
The orphanage, itself, was in his storage ring.
"Please relax and you will find both Ben and Carl back there." The woman ran off and a cry of joy left her as the 2 boys hugged her hard. He felt tired but he knew his troubles were just starting.
Only an idiot could not piece together his involvement so he would wait for the next problem to come calling. For now, he went to his room to cultivate.
Revenge was coming one way or another.
