Chapter 1097 - 1096 - Dangerous Maester
Chapter 1097 - 1096 - Dangerous Maester
"Welcome back to the mainland, Lord Gilgamesh!" The soldiers were thrilled to welcome their caravan once they knew who it was. A marquis was the leader but they were currently engaged in investigating an aura that swept their city.
It was a powerful Crystal Tier Immortal! Chu had to hide in the wagon as she knew exactly who had sent chaos loose without intending too!
Lind simply kept a stone face but then his group froze as a name came up.
"It might have been the Triple Maester Taren Cord! He has disappeared from Crescent City after humiliating the Divine Sword Sect!" The gossip actually made Lind start to sweat until they described his natural looks.
Emerald hair down to the waist, crimson robes, and reptilian eyes. It all made him calm down until they mentioned his wife and daughter! Of course! His group was well known as well!
Oz got a pass since many old men at the World Realm could be found anywhere but 2 white tigers, a Shadow Scaled Tiger, Sky Panther Girl, and a demon were hard to miss!
True their races were not exactly advertised but only an idiot would miss it. Still, Gilgamesh was more focused on the panic and getting information on that event.
"Lord Emerald Immortal, please go ahead to this building and they will take care of your party there. I need to assess the current situation." Lind accepted a golden token with a flaming bird on it.
His luck could not be that bad!
Oz took over the driving as the rest entered a lovely city of 5 million strong. It was far older than many places they had seen but Crescent City, before it was destroyed, was close. Even so, the materials were grade 7 at minimum in all directions for even the street!
"I have heard stories that the floating land masses were always the homes of Immortals. They lived far above the lower realms and even ascended Immortals were not easily welcomed." Lind did not find that surprising at all.
The Floating Isles took in all Sky Realms due to their relatively short lifespans of 2000 years. It needed a constant influx of fresh blood but the higher powers were very restrictive about the good resources and locations they held on to.
Immortals, with millions of years to live, likely were much harsher about admittance.
The city was very neat and unlike the other places they had been, there was no sign of poverty at all but he suspected that was by design rather than any natural force at work.
There were no stalls or chaotic markets but clearly marked shopping districts and very calm people going into shops as they traversed the city.
Lind noticed another oddity compared to any city he had ever visited. There was no demarcation in the quality. The density of Qi was fairly uniform and the profound items he could detect were all very good.
It was like the entire city was a noble district or inner disciple area of a sect.
He slowly grasped that it was due to his own misconceptions and Oz's words actually helped clarify things as he thought about them.
The floating Rubyfire Kingdom had been a home to elites. There were no places for the destitute or even bandits to form!
The left the shopping and production areas but a small crowd had built up ahead as a young man was shouting.
"You have to be kidding me." Lind's words made Oz glance over but then he made out what was being shouted and also gave a tired sigh.
"How dare you defy my will! I am a Maester of Formations! You should be honored to lick my boots!" A group of men and women were surrounding a young boy bleeding on the street.
The fact none of the guards intervened spoke of the position of the shouting young man. Both Oz and Lind desperately just wanted to go by but both knew their luck was not that good lately.
Lind noticed the badge on the man and his dark robes. It was similar to his but the glow was dimmer than his own. The man was also only a Sliver Tier.
Assuming his luck was supremely bad, Lind swiftly scanned the crowd and found the guards were indeed holding another boy to the side. With a glance, he could tell the potential of the Soul Realm child.
He had the strong spirit needed for a weaver or formation master and pieces slowly came together as he noticed the resemblance between the 2 boys.
Did powerful people not have better things to do with their time?
"Head on to the inn. Chu can settle things." Oz looked relieved as Lind hopped off and the wagon moved safely beyond the crowd.
"Well, we have wasted enough time. Remove the wastrel and–" A powerful aura washed over the crowd as Lind slowly walked through the goon squad that were all shivering at his presence.
The pale gray robes did not hide the shining elixir badge on his left breast. Combined with his aura, all knew a true expert had come!
"I am simply trying to relax on my arrival but I find this distasteful scene. Fellow Daoist, do you have a reasonable explanation?" The cold green eyes locked onto the young man in black robes and finely treated brown hair left no doubt he was dealing with a noble of some kind.
The man tried to speak before Lind raised his arm and the air currents freed the child trapped between 2 large men on the side. He ran to his brother bleeding as he cried over him.
"You will all leave of your own free will or I will make you leave. Choose." Lind was being heavy handed but it was due to the fact he had a shield looking on.
Gilgamesh was still tied up but the token had sent a signal once he took it. He could feel a similar presence to his own looking on.
"I am Baron Valeri! You will give me back my property!" Lind was impressed the young man could remain haughty but looked at him coldly.
"Sigh, I really do not like making a mess. Senior, if I act, things will not be kind." He looked up and a woman with shimmering golden hair and eyes looked down with a smile. The golden robes made the crowd flinch as she slowly floated down.
"I personally would not mind seeing what you can do but I appreciate you being considerate, honored guest." The instant the last 2 words were spoken the group backed up instantly in fear.
The young man's pale green eyes filled with fear as he blanched!
"I beg pardon!" He bowed low and tried to leave but time froze around them. They were still aware as their eyes went wide but no one could escape.
"Honored guest, should they be punished?" Lind saw amusement on the dark face in front of him. She was clearly amused but he shook his head.
"The boys are safe, that is enough. However–" His aura flared solely on the formation Maester. "Should anyone related to these boys suddenly have a bad day, I suppose I could change my mind."
The man flinched before time resumed flowing.
"I sweat to Heaven and Earth no harm will come to any of their friends and family!" The rumble of the skies showed the man was reluctant but the Oath was given as he ran off.
The now empty walking path left the 4 people alone.
Lind healed with an Art as his elixirs were quite exhausted at grade 2.
"Are you all right?" The possible formation expert swiftly nodded as Lind smiled at him while crying. "Good. Come with me."
He looked at the woman but she only bowed as they moved up the street.
As expected, the golden building came into view with a crimson and fiery orange bird loomed over the ornate entrance of a Golden Vermillion Inn.
"Welcome to Maron City branch, Emerald Immortal." He nodded and crossed the threshold to find Nana waiting for him with another woman.
The features were shared between the 2 and he confirmed they were both phoenixes. Unlike the last one, he felt no space distortion but space was solidified.
"Ah, I am pleased to welcome you to my inn, Emerald Immortal. I am Lady Sal. Please follow me." Nana looked at the 2 Soul Realm boys and sighed as she looked at him.
He shrugged as they moved into a familiar courtyard of exquisite suites. They came to a sign that was actually in front of a shimmering light field. It read 'Solaris Suite.'
He arched an eyebrow at that name but then noticed similar celestial body names for the inn. He wondered who chose that theme but accepted a token and put it into the pillar by the sign.
The lights parted and a gorgeous suite was in front of him as he found his family and servants waiting for him.
Little Katerina cooed at him and he smiled as Ranger was holding her.
"Jur and Bori, get these 2 some food and let them recover. They have had a rough day." She ran up with Bori to take them away as the 2 looked exhausted.
"You are as kind as she said, Maester Taren Cord." A dragon limb grasped Lady Sel's throat instantly as Chu bared her fangs. Lind held up his hand and looked at the token he got back from Oz.
"So it is a soul imprint. I will have to remember that in the future." His words made all understand how he was found out.
"Cough, indeed. Never fear, we keep our oaths and your consideration in the former Kun City will not be forgotten."
"So what bad news do you have for me?" She smiled as her dark golden eyes were amused.
"That Formation Maester is only a baron but he has connections to the marquis. He knows when not to cross a line but you have embarrassed him. You will face issues due to that when you leave but you are safe here." He sighed and wondered if the spirits were amusing themselves with incidents like that.
"Thank you for the information. Here." He handed over a jade slip and her eyes went wide in shock! "Use it well and you should recover your bestial traits to a better extent."
She bowed low as he had shared harmonic tempering with her. It seemed wise to curry favor if the inn could safeguard his friends. He hoped the stay would be short but knew it would not.
He had to decompress and think while waiting for Gilgamesh to come for him later. For the moment, he would figure out what was going on in the city via the 2 boys he picked up. Why was nothing ever just peaceful?!
