Chapter 1077 - 1076 - Arrogance
Chapter 1077 - 1076 - Arrogance
Crescent City had been reduced to ruins but the foundation was still there. The unexpected restoration of the Law Binding, Core, and Array. There were a few hiccups due to the usual nature of it, but it was working.
Lind had been able to resurrect the full Law Binding with the help of both Petryn and Teegan. It was annoying he could still not do it alone.
Still, the sigils that bridged the previous damage could not be removed as it was confirmed they were grade 8!
He could only barely comprehend them and even that was just the surface level. They did not impede anyone from controlling them so he handed control over to Petryn very quickly.
Once the Law Binding was up and working, Qi efficiency skyrocketed for all inside it. Rebuilding then proceeded which made Lind's Construction Art really shine as he learned how to accommodate far more materials than ever before.
Due to that, the central buildings and key structures were swiftly built. Support structures for water, food storage, and stables swiftly followed. All of that left a deep impression in the imperial soldiers' view of Lind.
None of them understood how he could build such structures so quickly but his Forging made a lot of defenses possible that would take formation masters months of work to accomplish.
He did not make any weavings aside from the war tower room he had been given.
The gateway had been upgraded thus it was far more efficient to use and travel back and forth to destinations.
Lind was currently standing there with Petryn and Teegan in front of him.
The structure around the gateway was made of fine golden stone laced with swirls of darkness making pleasant decoration. It almost looked like the stone was a liquid flowing around them.
Natural light was enhanced by the crystal panes on the ceiling at key places and down the walls. At night the light crystals would flicker to life and the same crystals would let it bounce around enough to keep the interior bright without disrupting the exterior.
Lind also added a few functions that only the Amber Scale City had. Namely that a warning would arrive for incoming travelers at a certain threshold of cultivation. It also included a certain number if they were Immortals.
As both warnings had triggered, Lind had been able to consult the transit information to confirm dragons were indeed coming. He had felt them before they found the nearest Gate. Due to the instability of the old Gates, they had to travel as economically as possible.
Thus the group coming had to stop one last time before proceeding. They also had to get permission either way but being what they were, they could have ignored it. The fact they did not spoke of at least a bit of caution from them.
Going into a previously heavy warzone meant they did not want to be seen as invaders.
"What do you think they will want with us?" Petryn asked the question Lind least wanted to answer. Teegan stayed silent but knew the truth as well. "Did Lady Chu not wish to be here?"
Lind saw Teegan flinched at that question. He smirked but he could answer that one.
"Chu is a bit different and I did not feel the need to have a battle in the building. It is sturdy but not that sturdy." Petryn paled while Teegan had to hide her face as her shoulders shook as she giggled!
Chu was a prideful woman but it was the dragon aspect of her blood that might cause an issue. The dragons may take offense to her mixed blood as well.
In either case, Lind did not feel the need to have a battle.
"How is War Maiden Katara?" Teegan tried to change the subject but Lind became grim.
"She will live to give birth but anything after that I cannot be certain. I have done all I can." The pair next to him nodded. Petryn took in stride but seemed a little down. Teegan, despite her sweet nature, was satisfied.
Ensuring the next generation was perfectly fine to die for in her mind.
Most beasts would agree with her.
Before they could move on, the dark stone gateway lit up and the portal opened. A group of people came out and let their aura flare wide.
They were only Sliver and Shard Tiers, but the power was far greater than humans or demons could achieve. Petryn and Teegan both trembled but then were protected as an emerald dome covered them.
Further, the auras blazing out were sent reeling back at them.
"There is no need to be rude. The Duke Fionan is here to greet you." Lind spoke sternly and the people flinched at his tone. They knew on sight who he was but his words made them bow to the human.
"Welcome to the newly established Crescent Duchy. The city is still being rebuilt but we have excellent accommodations for you." Petryn knew they were dragons and thus did not skimp on accommodations. His ministers had objected to him greeting the people but even the dragons seemed to approve that the leader had come to see them.
"We are glad to be welcome. We are here on business for our tribes but will accept the rooms." Petryn waved to the side and several aids came forth to be of service to the people.
It also let the guards know they were special guests. City tokens were distributed to also allow them access to the facilities and give them a map of the current functional parts of the city.
Lind did not say anything more nor try to greet them. He followed at the back which seemed to draw Petryn's attention but no one bothered to clarify on the order.
Teegan smiled as she felt the dragons' nerves go on edge as she could feel the displeasure of Lind clearly.
He had no doubt they were confused at his displeasure but it was not the time or place.
They emerged into a sunlit day. Gorgeous blue sky with fluffy white clouds hung over them. The wind gave just the right touch to the temperature that even mortals would find the day perfect.
The sounds of hammering while shouts for orders were echoing all around them as another building foundation was laid out before major construction could begin again. It was always the same.
The old foundation had to be reset or purged before the building could replace it.
The city was growing faster recently as businesses that had their branches destroyed were finally returning.
Crescent City was still the last hub before leaving the Fionan Empire on the eastern border. It was already well established before and would be the best location still as well.
Thus, the rebuilding was ongoing.
Petryn led the group to the only inn currently operating. It was the Golden Vermillion Inn. Lind had negotiated for a branch to be set up which made his old contacts happy.
It was not as robust as the one he had stayed at before but they had almost seemed to conjure it overnight compared to even his own abilities!
The crimson, black, and gold gateway made all the dragons flinch as they felt the aura of a Crystal Tier clearly watching them.
"I will have to leave you here but Maester Cord and my fiancé will take over." Petryn was quite busy but the dragons seemed to respect him giving them his time. He bowed low and left.
"Welcome!" A young man in shimmering robes of flames opened the gate and servants quickly guided the group in. Teegan was waiting for him as they now walked at the back. "You have been given the largest suite we have, Orion Suite."
The group came to the massive courtyard that could not have possibly fit into the area they had walked to but the dragons seemed familiar with the Golden Vermilion Inn and its abilities.
The multi-courtyard suite was massive and Lind noted all the rooms were exposed to the elements unlike the one he had once stayed at. Dragons, or any beasts, would prefer such a suite. The servants bowed and left them alone before sliding the door closed behind them.
The instant they left, all 12 of the dragons knelt to Lind.
""We greet the True Lord.""
They all spoke at once but Lind frowned deeply. Among other things, he wanted to know how they found him so accurately but his current gripe was the disdain they had shown since their arrival.
Petryn had been given some respect but only after he had obliquely guided them to acknowledge him in the first place.
"You so freely call me True Lord before ever meeting today. You come here with so few of the western tribes represented. How many have died or better yet, how many have been suppressed because their ancestors are dead?" His tone was cold but none of the kneeling dragons flinched.
"We acknowledge strength, always. The ancestors that died were weak. They could not endure the Corruption and paid the price." A slim woman spoke up with dark violet hair and robes of midnight. She actually looked similar to the Starhide Wolves in her robes.
"Indeed, strength is important but territory is too. Whose territory are you in right now?" That made them flinch. The broadest man looked up slowly but he seemed confident.
"This is your–" His body was sent flying across the room by Lind's aura alone. It was only at that moment that fear flickered in their eyes. They only then understood he had full access to his cultivation realm!
"This is the Fionen Empire, a supreme power. They, among all of you, suffered from the bloodline array until recently. If you want to be strict, however, then let's acknowledge that you western dragons have disrespected the currently most powerful dragon of the east." Teegan blushed deeply and all of them looked confused at Lind.
"Arrogance will get you nowhere with me! I do not care what you assumed when you came here but we have met. Go home and tell your ancestors to work on preserving their clans and helping the others. If they do not care to, that is fine. I will discuss it at a later date, in detail!" Lind swept from the room.
He gave no one a chance to talk and Teegan stayed behind. He gave her points in his head for doing so. She was far younger and weaker than any of those people but she was currently the strongest dragon in the east as he had put it.
Lind left the inn and returned to his quarters. He had better things to do than indulge their whims. It would be up to them how things would proceed but they had failed already in his eyes. It would be hard to overcome that first impression. Very hard.
