Chapter 1055 - 1054 - Chu's Hunt
Chapter 1055 - 1054 - Chu's Hunt
"Sanctimonious bastards. I would like to say it is the bloodline array but a few of our Sisters had run-ins with them over the last few millions of years. If not for the sect backing them, we suspect our Sisters would have been 'charged with unforgivable crimes.'" War Maiden Katara spat when Lind told them what he found.
It seemed the majority of the sect was arrogant but as advertised with their stated mission. They followed the path of treating the body as a crucible that had to be refined to perfection in battle.
They used flames to push themselves in various ways but they held up that fire was the ultimate motivation at the heart of cultivation. Lind had to smirk that for 6 elementals, that was not an incorrect statement.
"Well, the demon with them is the bigger problem. He is not a willing participant but his Art is impressive. Avoiding it will be difficult not only in staying here but if we wanted to remove them." He showed them the relative position of their opponents.
His weaving was fairly simple. It just attached a bit of his own Qi to the slave collars and thus went largely undetected. The slaves might feel something but they would likely chock it up to their owners fiddling with the refinement of the collars.
"You said they are looking for entertainment?" Nana spoke up and Lind nodded grimly. He noticed both Chu and Katara were equally grim.
He was about to suggest some plans when Chu's eyes caught his own. The fire in them was clear as day and he nodded to her.
Before anyone could react, she vanished from all their senses!

The world was a mix of darkness and light to her. Strength that she never dreamed of having before flowed in her limbs as she quietly slipped from one pile of debris to the next. Not even a puff of dust rose in her passing!
She could vaguely make out the streets, now covered in destroyed buildings and broken carriages, as she followed the scent of her mate. His weavings were of his soul and thus she could find them anywhere!
Happiness bubbled in her chest as she recalled his ascent to let her go! All of her life, Priestess Chu had been controlled.
She was raised to be the next creator beast kin for the village when the Jade Dream Sect came and raided them. Her elder brother and father were taken first, followed by the Ancestor of her bloodline.
They were so few but they had been solace to each other!
When she gave birth, the only reason she was not taken was due to being pregnant, she knew her life was over.
Her time in the care of the Jade Dream Sect was a nightmare. They had cut and used her to increase their own strength! The woman had laughed as Chu screamed for mercy.
All the while, the voices of her bloodline mocked her weakness and assured her she deserved all the horrific treatment she suffered. Those cursed voices were always there and she could never tap into her bloodline for power.
Her body always fought her!
When her eyes were destroyed, she had hoped the darkness would be near the end but it was only the beginning. It made it all so much worse!
She could barely hear after they mangled her ears. They took all they could to use but still leave her alive. It was all because her daughter was not old enough they said.
That was the only thing that kept her going. The longer she lived, the longer her daughter would be left in peace! A child could never match up to an adult.
The spirits seemed to punish her for her efforts or maybe it was those voices in her race memory. Her daughter was progressing impossibly fast!
None of her family had made such progress in so short a time!
It had taken her almost 40 years to reach the World Realm!
All hope died when the woman controlling her laughed and said they were going to collect her daughter. Chu would have wept if she had any tears left at that point.
The spirits then had mercy! A beast of immense power freed her and saved her daughter! He took them from that cursed village and then healed her body to the point she could see again!
The light of the world returned! It was vague to a point after that but she recalled his eyes looking at her for permission. He was asking if he could attempt to save her life with his blood.
A beast knew what that meant! She knew he understood but also that it was the only way. She gave consent and then felt pain to dwarf all previous pain in her life.
She was being ripped apart but eventually, new strength flooded her veins. The previously mocking race memory voices were silenced and she was reborn! She saw the origin of her bloodline was fighting her mate!
She had crushed the spirit and the heady rush of instincts took over. She would freely admit her happiness was a large part of it too.
He had helped her master her instincts and then embraced the daughter she had left behind! Jur was safe!
Nana was not a rival to Chu, but she had protected and tried to hide Jur from the villagers. It was enough to allow her to stay. Besides, her daughter loved her as an aunt. Nana had made sure to tell Jur stories of Chu as well it seemed.
Chu broke from her reverie as she smelled fresh blood in the air. Her violet and emerald eyes narrowed as the shadows seemed to blend around her body. She was not using an Art, they simply obeyed her like her own limbs.
A flickering firelight came from some stones ahead. The shadows were making the tortured shapes danced as the light reflected on the exposed metal and polished stone.
She found some wood shattered that may have been stairs in front of her ascending up a stone wall. She used it to quietly go up until she was looking down at the small camp.
She saw the men of the Holy Flame Sect eating happily from a large pot of soup. The pleasant scent of meat and vegetables was clear but she noticed the small group of slaves were left to simply look on hungrily.
Only the demon seemed to be eating but it rankled her nose even from her current position. It was rotten!
All of the slaves were familiar to her by condition alone. They had been beaten not as simple punishment or training, but just because their masters could.
A quiet snarl rose in her throat.
She faded back into the shadows as scales hardened on her skin. It was time to hunt!
She circled the camp before finding what she needed. While most cultivators moved beyond the needs of the body, disposing of food waste or other camp materials still remained. Many would burn or destroy it but others would use it as bait.
The group was hunting for any hidden survivors to enslave so the scent of food would draw out the desperate.
They had created a spot to become bait once they were done eating! A foolish person would take the chance at it too.
She did not smell anything like other people but she now waited, still as all the debris, for her first target.
The moons were obscured by the clouds in the night sky as the fire was tamped down. The scrap of boot on stone came to her but she sneered as another was above her trying to act as guard.
The overhang was likely once a higher floor but was now wide open to the sky. She extended her claws and swiftly flipped up behind a shadowed man. He was the one that had demon blood in his scent too.
Chu struck his throat with ease. His flesh shattered like it was liquid. He had no chance to scream or call out as he no longer had a throat to use. Her blood soaked hand did not stop as she quickly crushed his dantian as well.
Her husband had taught her some might prepare a warning for their companions by triggering their dantian. It could also kill an assailant before they knew what happened.
She leaped into the air as the other man was dumping the cauldron of leftovers to be bait. He barely saw the world darken before his head was split open like a ripe melon.
The viscera flew everywhere but Chu only smiled! The power flowed in her veins but she calmed herself. There were 6 more targets. She had to be swift.
She quickly stored away the corpses and then used her blue flame to clean up the blood. She then moved to a different spot that was a hollow created by several slaps leaning on each other.
No human could slip in there but her body was far more flexible.
She did not have to wait long before voices came. Four of her targets had come. She pondered before a smile came to her.
She slipped around in the shadows until she was at the camp. The remaining 2 were standing guard over the slaves. She saw the demon flinch but he said nothing as she flew by like a blur.
Both men were cut from head to groin like a hot knife through butter! No blood fell as their wounds had been cauterized yet no heat came from her limbs! The lessons her husband taught her were ingenious.
The precise control let her attain the desired effects without revealing herself!
She stored away the dead men while none of the slaves even knew what had happened. Their eyes were poor but the demon looked right at her.
His eyes were a virulent yellow but full of fire. A smile bloomed on his face before he gently lay back on the ground.
The 4 came back to camp screaming for their companions but they were already doomed. The time for hiding was long past!
Chu lit up the sky with blue flames as she revealed her partially transformed body. Tiger ears and fur intertwined with the black scales of a dragon! Her massive fangs were barely registered before she ripped the dantians out of 2 of the men with her tail and fist respectively as her neck grew to snap off the head of a third.
Only a breath of time and 3 of the men were dead!
Shadows suddenly moved and pierced him in the head, heart, and dantian all at once!
She stored them all away. They would make for excellent nutrition for her and Jur later.
She then turned to the slaves but repressed her burning desire to feast. Her husband was kind. He did not kill unless he had to.
She collected the slaves and marched back to her camp. He would know what to do. She was humming to herself as the previously active camp of the Holy Flame Sect was deserted with only the wails of broken men left in her wake.
