Chapter 1016 - 1015 - War Maiden
Chapter 1016 - 1015 - War Maiden
The pair were slowly surrounded by the mostly familiar pristine white robes but he noticed the shimmering sect badge on 3 of them. They were all Crystal Tiers but the bloodlust coming off them was palpable.
They hated him but none were harmed.
"Greetings seniors." He cupped his hands and bowed respectfully but his senses were attuned to any possible attack. Delenn only nodded.
Her medallion was inspected by the 3 first and they were surprised and then nodded.
"We confirm you are the Lost Forging Princess. Welcome home. Are you in any danger?" Lind felt a vein twitch at that question. Were they being serious?!
She glanced at him before pointing at one of his badges.
"He is my former student and has surpassed me. He is also a Triple Maester. I swear to it once more." The other women were staring at his badges and grudging respect came in some of their eyes but he could only see a dozen. There were at least 20 he could not see.
"Who is Sect Master Valkyrie? She is not in our records." Lind stayed silent. He could not answer that question. He had no need to either.
The token had several unique functions and one of them was silent.
He waited patiently until the proper woman showed up. He got some death glares but he looked directly to his left where no one seemed to be.
"In case you are wondering, I can tell there are 32 of you. There are 20 Sliver Tiers, 7 Shard Tiers, and 5 Crystal Tiers. Of them, you are the strongest and my token recognizes yours, Vice Sect Master." His words shocked them all.
Even Delenn had no idea anyone was there until the air shimmered and a broad woman appeared with a sword as tall as she was! The blade had no sheath and was secured simply by cross straps to the back!
Its hilt was almost 3 palms long normally but fit the woman holding it. Her robe also had a blood red sigil on her right breast he did not recognize. He looked at Delenn but she only looked pale and shocked.
"Is it that bad?" The woman turned her bright azure eyes to her and nodded while looking grim. Lind noted she moved like a god of death. The sword was lethal but the woman herself was power incarnate.
"Answer the question, who is Sect Master Valkyrie?" Lind held up his hands and a massive weaving went outward. Several Maidens pulled out various weapons but then realized nothing else happened.
The emerald light cut off the rest of the world but he narrowed his eyes as he looked behind him.
"Excuse me for a moment." He vanished and punched empty air. The area cracked open like an egg and a man that was rail thin was exposed. He was pale as a ghost but Lind showed him no mercy.
His chest was blown out with ease and Lind frowned. It was not a Fiend agent at all.
"How did you find the Vile Ghost Sect member?" The term 'vile' had a different connotation. It was like 'eternal' but for wicked sects. It denoted something equivalent to a high power from his old system.
"Inside my weavings, nothing can hide. Give me a moment more." He closed his eyes and let himself feel the weaving before a frown marred his face as he looked down.
"Delenn, stand back to the edge. They are here." His arm transformed into his dragon shape and she pulled back a few Maidens as he slammed into the ground. The stunned look on the women was missed as he easily dug up the street.
A chamber was exposed that he had seen before but it was almost a kilometer down. A Fiend was enslaved and Fiend Qi was flowing from the chamber.
"DIE!" He was stunned to hear a voice come from the strung up body but he snorted as emerald Qi flowed into the lair.
"You can go to Hell first!" Fiend Qi was mass transformed to natural Qi and the Fiend died instantly just like the last one but he did not try to follow the connection that time. He had more important things to do.
He looked up to find the women all looking at him in a new light.
Delenn only smirked and shook her head.
"You could try to be more low key. We were trying to prevent pursuit." He shrugged but then the woman in charge hopped into the hole he made before she looked around and smiled in a way that gave him chills.
"This man is officially a guest elder. I, War Maiden Katara confirms this fact." The moment she spoke, all the Maidens put their right fists to their heart and bowed low to her. They then turned and left!
The ward would not stop people from leaving but Lind was confused. What was a War Maiden?
She hopped back out of the hole like it was nothing. He realized she was a body cultivator from that alone but she now stood before him and smiled wide. She offered her hand and he took it.
If he had been human, his arm would have been turned to mush.
"Come to my tower! I will listen to your story there, both of you!" He nodded and dispersed his ward. She observed it and he simply pointed at his chest. She looked closely at it but then froze as she looked at one.
"You are a student of Younger Twin?!" The departing Maidens all froze and he slowly nodded. She instantly turned around like lightning. "No one will reveal this man to anyone! Swear Oaths now!"
They all did instantly which he kind of understood but the level of discipline was closer to an army than a sect.
They proceeded not to the closest tower but one at the edge of the city. He saw a wall made from excellent grade 7 materials looming in the distance but they entered a shorter wall around the tower.
There were no sprawling grounds, just a place to put animals and a storage warehouse before the tower itself.
The very basics were all that they had and it aligned with what he would call a war tower as Delenn called it. The moment he passed the pristine white wall, he felt his token shimmer. Any doubt on the War Maiden's face dispersed at that moment.
The tower could easily hold a few thousand from its circumference The lower floors had the kitchens and storage areas once more. They were far more secure than the one outside.
Lind could see the defenses and frowned as they were grade 6 at best. The street and the formations were grade 7 so why a grade lower indoors?
They climbed the stairs for 10 stories until he felt things were odd. The circumference was fine but the height was wrong. They should have been above the height he saw outside!
He felt no formation nor weaving to explain it until he examined the stone itself.
It was the stone material itself! Rather than using a formation or refining the stone, they made a slight modification to trigger the spatial aspect and create a larger space inside the perimeter of the stone!
He wanted to study it as it was likely related to kukan stone but there was clearly on aspect of time applied to the current one.
He had to break away from his curiosity as they came upon a very familiar design near the top of the tower.
The dark wooden double doors gave way to an office he had seen more than once during his time living at the Heavenly Maiden Sects.
A main desk with shelves lined to either side loomed over a recessed table and couches. The balcony looked out into the wilderness around the city.
The similarities only made the 3 objects stand out more.
He saw a Law Core propped up over a Law Array. He only needed a glance to tell it was not the one in charge of protecting the city. It was not even the one that controlled the street defenses.
He could feel the power off of it and knew it was far above his skill.
Just what Law Binding was it using? The formation from the towers was separate from it so what was it for?
The other 2 items stood out but were less impressive. One was a weapons rack where the massive sword had its twin. A glance at the massive blade told him all he needed to know that it was Law Grade as well.
The blade had a blue sheen to it and he could feel the spirit inside was powerful as well.
The final item was a bit odd in that it would not normally draw the eye but his discerning artisan eye noticed it. A jade artifact on the bookshelves was partially hidden but he noticed it instantly. It was in the shape of a golden roc with its wings pulled in.
It too had a spirit but it was actively suppressed. He had no idea what it could be for but it would easily fit in the palm of his hand.
"Welcome to my office, Lind Frey." The instant his name was spoken emerald scales and his harmony became draconic in nature. His aura was unleashed in full as Delenn let hers rise as well.
A smile spread on the War Maiden's face but she did not do anything else.
"Your token gives your identity. It is a secret only I know as the leader of the war towers here. You can truly use your full cultivation it seems to so you both have an interesting story to share. It was wise to change your name but Princess Delenn there is a clue Shandor Syndicate can use to find you. Let's talk." She took a seat behind her desk after putting the sword on the rack with the other.
He recalled his aura and the pair took one of the couches. It was time to share info.
