Chapter 440 - 424: I Saw Five Shadows on That Man

Chapter 440 - 424: I Saw Five Shadows on That Man

"Wild Beast, where’s the target? I’m down here."

The voice of the Master of Ceremonies came through the communication channel.

Wild Beast didn’t immediately respond. Instead, he hid in the darkness, his gaze sharp and focused on the scene inside the sewer.

His voice rang out softly, carrying an elusive emotion:

"I’m watching an encounter in the sewer, a budding romance mixed with deception and betrayal."

There was a touch of longing in his tone, as if he were admiring a romantic movie.

For personal reasons, Wild Beast had never tasted the bitterness or sweetness of love. At this moment, he felt a deep yearning for the scene unfolding before him.

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

The Master of Ceremonies’ voice rose eight octaves. His eyes rolled white as he quickly scanned the surroundings, trying to spot Wild Beast.

Wild Beast didn’t answer directly. Instead, he threw out another question:

"Has the organization’s criteria for recruiting new members been adjusted to include independently dismantling or integrating a stronghold of an evil organization?"

The Master of Ceremonies paused for a moment, then snorted disdainfully:

"Of course not, where did you hear such rumors? However..."

His tone shifted, showing a sudden interest:

"That actually sounds intriguing. The recruits brought in through such a method should be quite capable, as they’ve undergone ’peer validation.’

Although the mortality rate might be somewhat high... hmm, that might not matter much."

His voice gradually turned cheerful, as if he was calculating something.

He was already mulling over the idea, considering suggesting it to the [Destiny·HR] when there was an opportunity.

No doubt, the chances of it being gladly accepted would be very high.

The next second, the Master of Ceremonies’ pupils reflected the shadow of Wild Beast.

At the same time, on his retina, he clearly captured the man and woman whom Wild Beast was peeking at.

The two stood on the murky water, their palms tightly clasped.

The man’s expression was gentle, with a faint smile, while the woman appeared both excited and anxious, as though she was facing an important decision.

That scene looked like... a confession?

"After all these years, Wild Beast still hasn’t kicked his peeping habit."

The Master of Ceremonies rolled his white eyes, but suddenly his expression froze.

Wild Beast’s voice echoed again, this time filled with a murderous intent:

"The mission wasn’t this... so there’s someone impersonating us [Destiny]? "

Before the Master of Ceremonies could reply, he heard Wild Beast’s unprecedentedly eerie voice:

"Master of Ceremonies, do you think it’s possible for us to encounter two Evil Sacrifice parasites in a row?"

The Master of Ceremonies hadn’t responded yet when two exclamations sounded over the communication channel.

Red Dragonfly: "What did you say?"

Bald Captain: "Another one?"

Wild Beast took a deep breath and said in a feral voice:

"I saw that man. His bones seemed to come alive, piercing through flesh and twisting at will. I’m not sure, Master of Ceremonies, take a look; is this guy yet another Evil Sacrifice parasite?"

The Master of Ceremonies stood there, body rigid, only those lifeless white eyeballs frantically trembling, as if enduring some indescribable shock.

On his eyeballs, bizarre images flashed incessantly yet remained blurry.

His brain felt like it had turned to mush, unable to accurately form the images before him, much less articulate what he had glimpsed.

Blood began to seep from the corner of his eyes, slowly trailing down his cheeks, staining his pale face red.

His sanity value was plummeting; the scene before him twisted and turned increasingly chaotic, as though the entire world was crumbling apart before his eyes.

Fortunately, he was one of [Destiny]’s miscreants.

[Destiny]’s members typically have a madness attribute, with a much lower threshold for SAN value compared to ordinary people.

Their reason is always teetering on the brink of insanity; madness is essentially the most important part of their mindset.

This valuable trait became a lifeline for the Master of Ceremonies, allowing him a fleeting moment of respite at the brink of losing all rationality.

The corners of his mouth uncontrollably twitched open, uttering a sound barely above a murmur, filled with terror and despair:

"One, two, three, four, five!!!"

His voice echoed through the communication channel, carrying an eerie undertone.

With every number uttered, his voice grew more foreign, as if being infected and parasitized by some unspeakable horror.

Within the channel, the bald captain sensed something amiss and hurriedly asked:

"Master of Ceremonies? What’s going on? What did you see?"

Wild Beast suddenly emitted a strange soundwave from his throat, a low-frequency growl that exploded in the communication channel.

The sound pricked everyone’s eardrums painfully, as if countless needles were thrashing about wildly inside.

The Master of Ceremonies abruptly closed his eyes, wiping the bloody residue from the corners with his sleeve after a long pause, he let out a deep breath, speaking in a hoarse voice:

"Thanks, Wild Beast!"

Wild Beast’s expression was intensely serious: "What exactly did you see?"

He reopened his eyes, noticeably clouded with a layer of gray mist over those lifeless white eyeballs.

He swallowed, his voice tinged with a shudder of lingering fear:

"Five... I saw the shadows of five Evil Sacrifices in that man’s body!!!"

His words had barely fallen when silence immediately descended upon the communication channel.

Even these madmen of [Destiny] felt a tingle running down their scalps, an unseen chill climbing up their spines, reaching the back of their heads.

One person, five Evil Sacrifices?

The bald captain’s voice resurfaced, laden with disbelief and doubt:

"Master of Ceremonies, are you sure? Five shadows of Evil Sacrifices... are you sure you didn’t see wrong?"

Red Dragonfly’s voice followed closely, carrying a hint of confusion and unease:

"I might not know much about Evil Sacrifices, but isn’t a person only supposed to be parasitized by one? Evil Sacrifices aren’t a sharing type, right?

Wouldn’t they fight if they were in one body?"

Wild Beast stayed silent, reeling back his peeping gaze.

The murderous intent in his eyes that had been bubbling earlier was now remarkably restrained, replaced by an uncommonly found rationality.

He had always envied the Master of Ceremonies’ "White Eyes," but today, he suddenly thought his ordinary eyes weren’t too bad at all.

The Master of Ceremonies licked the blood off his tongue, the salty tang slightly clearing his thoughts.

He seemed to be talking to himself, yet also explaining to his teammates:

"A person can only be parasitized by one Evil Sacrifice. It’s accurate. There might be an infinitesimal chance of someone cursed with two Evil Sacrifices...

But there’s absolutely no possibility of someone being parasitized by five types of Evil Sacrifices simultaneously."

His tone was firm, yet those words puzzled Wild Beast even more.

Unable to hold back, he interrupted:

"But you just said that there are five Evil Sacrifice shadows in his body?"

The Master of Ceremonies replied softly:

"But I didn’t say he was parasitized by five Evil Sacrifices, he is..."
