Chapter 540: Chapter 540: Can’t Sleep, Counting Sheep
After finishing a large plate of dumplings, Tian Tian and Aunt Huang competed to wash the dishes. In the end, Tian Tian won, while Aunt Huang simply shook her head and smiled at her.
Tian Tian returned the smile, then began to wash the dishes and chopsticks.
Because it was just her eating, one plate and a pair of chopsticks were quickly cleaned.
After washing her hands, Tian Tian finally walked to the table and sat down.
She glanced at the time; it was almost eleven o’clock, time to sleep.
"You just finished eating, why not stroll around the yard to help digest?"
Having slept for so long, she really wasn’t sleepy at all. Tian Tian smiled and nodded, exiting the room to the courtyard outside.
The square courtyard was very clean, surrounded by high walls, with no view of the situation outside.
Hearing some noise at the entrance, Tian Tian quickly walked over.
Seeing Uncle Li, Tian Tian called out sweetly.
"Uncle."
The driver uncle’s surname was Li. Seeing it was Tian Tian, he raised his head and flashed a white-toothed smile.
"Tian Tian, my surname is Li, just call me Uncle Li."
"Okay, Uncle Li."
Seeing there were no buckets outside anymore, figuring Uncle Li was about to go in, Tian Tian took a couple of steps to the side and looked out into the thick darkness.
Uncle Li looked at her and smiled.
"Tian Tian, tomorrow I’m going to Kunshan to sell local specialties, your aunt is going too. Would you like to come with us?"
Tian Tian’s eyes lit up: "I absolutely must go!"
She hadn’t forgotten she told Uncle Li earlier she was here traveling.
Looking at the unpretentious Tian Tian, Uncle Li quickly nodded.
"Alright then, tomorrow morning I’ll have your aunt call you."
"Just stroll around the courtyard, don’t go outside. Although there are no bad people out there, many streetlights haven’t been repaired yet and it’s pitch dark in unfamiliar places, don’t lose your footing."
Tian Tian nodded with a smile and said goodnight to Uncle Li.
She wandered around the courtyard for a while, thinking that if she wasn’t asleep, Uncle Li and Aunt Huang probably wouldn’t sleep either. So Tian Tian soon turned back to the room on the west side.
She lay on the bed, paying attention to the lights in Uncle Li and Aunt Huang’s room.
Sure enough, after a while, the room light went out.
Tian Tian chuckled lightly and turned off her own light.
Through the window, she looked at the few stars in the night sky and blinked.
"Grandma, Dad, look, aren’t I quite lucky to meet kindhearted people like Uncle Li and Aunt Huang during this escape."
She blinked again and smiled. Although not sleepy, thinking about what Uncle Li said at the entrance earlier about going to Kunshan tomorrow, she quickly closed her eyes.
She had to get enough rest today for tomorrow’s mountain climbing, otherwise she’d fail!
Having slept for a significant time earlier, she had no trace of drowsiness now that she lay down.
Counting sheep with her eyes closed, but the more she counted, the more awake she felt.
Thinking about having to climb mountains tomorrow, she hurriedly tried to self-hypnotize and fall asleep.
Yet she remained extremely awake, with no drowsiness whatsoever.
Tian Tian took out her phone, hesitated for a moment, and finally, gritting her teeth, when she was about to turn it on, Bai Chenyao’s handsome and cold face, along with those dark eyes, suddenly flashed in her mind, instantly sapping her courage.
Originally somewhat calm inside, upon thinking of Bai Chenyao, the worry of being found intensified her restlessness and anxiety.
Thinking and worrying as she lay, time ticked away.
When Tian Tian finally opened her eyes again, the outside had turned slightly bright, carrying a hint of chill.
Tian Tian abruptly widened her eyes, glanced at her watch, took a deep breath; the night had gone by just like that.
