Chapter 290: Tasting

Looking at the three dishes and one soup on the table, Bai Chenyao didn’t immediately pick up his chopsticks to eat but first took an overall glance.

His gaze fell on Gu Tiantian.

"Did you make all of this yourself?"

The aloof voice sounded like a casual question.

Gu Tiantian nodded honestly, thought for a moment, and then added.

"I made all of it, but the rain was handled by the pretty lady in the kitchen, and the potato peels were also done with her help, and also—"

"Did you handle the cooking?"

The still aloof voice interrupted Gu Tiantian’s prattling.

Gu Tiantian nodded obediently, with a slight smile.

"Aren’t you going to give it a try?"

Bai Chenyao’s gaze carried a hint of expectation.

Although her relationship with Bai Chenyao was awkward, today she played the role of a cook. Like any cook would hope for, she wished for the food she made to be appreciated by her guests.

Seeing the look of hope in Gu Tiantian’s shiny grape-like eyes, akin to a young wife seeking her husband’s approval, Bai Chenyao narrowed his eyes and picked up his chopsticks.

He glanced at the three dishes and one soup on the table, picked some shredded potatoes, and tasted them.

Following his actions, Gu Tiantian watched him open his mouth and slowly savor the shredded potatoes.

His thin lips opened and closed again, lightly chewing, neither too fast nor too slow. Although his expression remained aloof, it lacked the chilling aura that made her shiver.

However, Bai Chenyao’s eating posture made her find it very appealing, elegant and unhurried, which was out of place with his usual sharp and cold demeanor.

But, was it harmonious?

It seemed he was born to be this way, and his noble aura couldn’t be concealed.

Nonetheless, Gu Tiantian didn’t forget the main point; she was still waiting for Bai Chenyao’s evaluation.

Seeing Bai Chenyao finish the shredded potatoes, he turned to the steamed crucian carp, picking a piece of fish flesh under the head where there were the fewest bones, almost ready to eat without having to pick out any bones.

Then, there was the shredded pork with fish flavor. Bai Chenyao picked out a piece of carrot shreds and put it in his mouth.

He chewed slowly again, making Gu Tiantian incredibly nervous.

At this point, Bai Chenyao still hadn’t spoken. Finally, he served himself a small bowl of egg drop soup with a small bowl, sipped a spoonful to his mouth.

At this point, Bai Chenyao had tasted all three dishes and the soup, but he hadn’t said a word, making Gu Tiantian feel on edge.

She had something she wanted to discuss with Bai Chenyao. Although cooking was Bai Chenyao’s sudden suggestion, she went ahead and did it earnestly.

However, while in the kitchen, she thought about many things and finally made up her mind.

Seeing Bai Chenyao in a good mood today, she decided to test the waters.

Unexpectedly, after he tasted each dish, he remained silent.

Is it good or not, can’t you at least say something?

Gu Tiantian felt quite frustrated, her previously hopeful bright eyes suddenly dimmed.

Bai Chenyao caught her expression fully, his dark, deep eyes focused intently on Gu Tiantian, and in his low and indifferent voice, he asked.

"How do you think you did?"

Nani?

Gu Tiantian expressed she was quite confident in her cooking skills.

Although... it couldn’t compare to Mrs. Chen’s cooking.

She had limited time in the kitchen, and while she could manage home-cooked dishes fine, she struggled with grand meals.

After some thought, Gu Tiantian earnestly gave an answer.

"I think these three dishes and one soup are probably okay, but if you ask me to make those big meals like in restaurants, I can make them, but the taste and presentation..."

She didn’t finish her sentence, believing Bai Chenyao already understood.
