Entangled With My Rival CEO

Chapter 126

Chapter 126

After entering her hotel suite, Camilla hastily secured the door before collapsing onto the floor.

Her handbag tumbled beside her, and her phone spilled out in the process.

Breathing heavily, her breath labored, she struggled to regain her composure.

Adrenaline coursed through her veins, leaving her feeling dizzy and slightly nauseous.

Suddenly, she felt the contents of her stomach rising, threatening to escape her mouth.

With great effort, she managed to contain it, pushing herself to her feet despite her unsteady balance.

She made a hasty dash for the bathroom, where she emptied the contents of her stomach into the toilet.

Camilla knelt in front of the toilet, her body racked with retching and her breath coming in gasps.

The cool bathroom tiles pressed against her cheek as she tried to steady herself.

Time seemed to stretch on endlessly as she endured the ordeal, and eventually, the vomiting subsided, leaving her feeling utterly drained and trembling.

She carefully stood up, holding onto the sink for support. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she could hardly recognize the person staring back at her.

Her typically vibrant gray eyes were bloodshot, her face now pale and clammy.

She splashed cold water on her face, the shock of the coldness helping to jolt her awake from the ordeal she had just experienced.

As she leaned against the bathroom counter, the events of the past few minutes replayed in her mind, causing another surge of adrenaline to course through her veins.

The fear she had experienced, the desperate need to escape, it all felt so overwhelming.

"Charles is Red Saint... Red Saint is Charles," she whispered, her voice shaky and barely audible. The reality of the situation sank in, and Camilla's thoughts started to race.

How could Charles be Red Saint? He was Alexander's cousin... how could someone who looked so innocent be the psychotic villain Alexander had described to her?

How could he commit such acts against his own family?

How was he able to sit in the same car as her and say that if he were Alexander, he would never have let her go just because she had a miscarriage, knowing full well that he was the one responsible for losing their unborn child? Camilla couldn't just comprehend it at all.

Camilla's eyes widened as a surge of realization hit her. "Alexander...I have to tell him..." she muttered, a rush of urgency pulsing through her.

"I have to reach Alexander... I must..." Her voice trailed off as she swiftly exited the bathroom.

Once outside, her gaze darted across the room, searching for her phone.

She spotted it lying near the couch and hurriedly retrieved it, her hands trembling with a mixture of fear and determination.

Fumbling, she pressed the side button, but the phone remained lifeless. It was then that she remembered it had run out of battery.

"Damn it!" She muttered under her breath, frustration seeping into her words.

With swift movements, she made her way to the bed and the nearby bedside table.

Snatching up her charger, she plugged it into the opposite socket and connected it to her phone, hoping desperately for it to come back to life.

Her fingers tapped impatiently on the bedside table as she anxiously awaited her phone to charge.

With each passing second, the weight of anticipation and anxiety pressed upon her, making time feel like it was moving at a snail's pace.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she made another attempt to power on her phone.

This time, the screen flickered to life, and Camilla swiftly entered her passcode, her heart racing with urgency.

She scrolled through her contacts, her heart pounding in her chest. Finally, she located Alexander's number and hesitated briefly, her thumb poised over the call button.

Taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart, she pressed the button.

The phone rang once, then twice, and as it continued into the third ring, anxiety, and urgency crept into her voice.

"Pick up the damn phone, Alexander!" she muttered under her breath, a blend of desperation and urgency evident in her tone.

She knew that time was of the essence, and she couldn't afford to waste any more of it.

If he wasn't picking then she would have to try other means, she quickly navigated to her message app and started typing a text to Alexander.

As she started typing her message, Camilla's hands were shaking uncontrollably.

She couldn't type fast enough to express the urgency she was feeling.

Even though her mind was a mess, she knew she had to be concise and clear in her message to Alexander.

"Alexander, it's urgent. You need to know that Charles is Red Saint. He's behind everything. Meet me at the hotel ASAP. I'll explain everything." Her thumb hovered over the 'send' button, ready to transmit the message.

Just as she was about to press it, a knock on the door startled her, causing her to drop her phone in the process.

Camilla's breathing grew heavy as she turned toward the door and abruptly stood up.

Trembling with fear, she approached the door cautiously, stopping a few steps away, and nervously cleared her throat.

"Who... Who's there?" she stammered, her voice quivering with hoarse anxiety.

"It's me... Alexander," came the reply from the other side of the door.

Relief flooded over Camilla as she recognized the voice.

She hurriedly moved to the door, unlocking it and swinging it open, only to be met with Charles standing there, wearing a malevolent smirk that sent shivers down her spine.

He raised his phone up to her eye level, the screen facing her.

On the screen of Charles' phone, a voice modulation app is displayed prominently.

The app features a waveform graph with an adjustable slider.

A red button labeled "Activate" is right below the graph, and next to it, there's an input field for typing text.

Camilla stared at the screen in disbelief, her heart pounding in her chest.

"You're not Alexander," she gasped, her eyes locked on the phone's display, instinctively taking a small step back.

Charles grinned wickedly, tilting his head and lowering his phone. He glanced at the screen, his fingers moving swiftly as he typed something in, his malicious intent clear.

She swiftly kicked the door trying to close it back but Charles quickly stepped forward, blocking her attempt to slam the door shut.

"Very perceptive, my dear... Obviously, I'm not Alexander," he taunted, his fingers now hovering over the 'Activate' button.

"But my little friend here helps me sound like him," he added, pressing the button. His hazel eyes locked onto Camilla's fearful gray ones.

The next second, the device spoke, mimicking Alexander's voice patterns, "Hello, Miss Kings... It's nice meeting you again."

Camilla's heart raced as she realized the gravity of the situation. She had exposed herself to a very dangerous person by opening the door, and it seemed like she was trapped.

He forcefully pushed it open, causing Camilla to stumble backward.

With a sinister smile, he stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.

Camilla's breathing quickened as her mind raced, searching for a way out of this nightmare scenario.

She desperately glanced around the room, looking for any possible escape route.

She noticed the balcony door, but quickly dismissed it as an option due to its height and the risk of jumping from such a height.

Camilla's gaze darted around the room, desperately searching for an escape route or anything that could help her.

Her eyes landed on the hotel room phone sitting on the bedside table.

She knew she needed to try calling for help, but it seemed impossible with Charles in such close proximity.

Her mind raced, trying to come up with a plan to get out of this dangerous situation.

Charles seemed to anticipate her thoughts as he took a step closer, his eyes filled with malice and a hunger for control.

Camilla's survival instincts kicked in, and she knew she had to act quickly.

Without thinking, she managed to get on her feet and grabbed the heavy glass vase sitting on the center table, and hurled it towards Charles but unfortunately, she missed and the vase hit the wall and shattered.

"So eager to get rid of me are you?" He sneered, his voice laced with a chilling amusement.

"You're resilient, aren't you? Even though it's clear you can't defeat me, you keep trying. I must admit, I'd be rather disappointed if it were that simple," he said, moving closer and narrowing the gap between them.

Camilla's back hit against the wall, and she knew she had no other option but to fight back.

Her eyes scanned the room, searching for any other thing she could use as a weapon.

Her gaze landed on a golden scepter used as a decor on the shelf that was close to her, and she quickly grabbed it, holding it tightly in her trembling hands.

As Charles got closer, his expression turning darker by the moment, Camilla swung the lamp towards him.

But he swiftly dodged the attack and grabbed her hand in a tight grip, causing her to drop it.

"Is this how you plan to protect yourself, my dear?" Charles sneered, his grip tightening around her wrist as he towered over her.

Camilla winced in pain and desperation flooded through her. She tried wriggling out of his grip but he was too strong.

Summoning all her strength, she stomped hard on Charles' foot, causing him to release his hold on her for a brief moment.

Taking advantage of the momentary escape, she pushed him with all her might, sending him stumbling backwards.

Camilla seized the opportunity and rushed towards the bed and the bedside table where her phone had fallen a while ago to grab and call for help from anyone.

But unfortunately, Charles quickly regained his balance and lunged towards her, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her back.

Camilla let out a cry as she felt the air being knocked out of her as both she and him struggled on the floor.

She desperately clawed at Charles' hands, trying to free herself, but his grip only tightened.

"Going somewhere, my dear Camilla?" Charles whispered, his voice dripping with sadistic pleasure.

Camilla's heart raced as she felt a surge of panic overwhelm her. She needed to find a way to escape, to save herself from this monster but soon she felt a soft fabric pressed over her mouth and nose.

Panic surged through her as her brain quickly registered the strange, stinging sensation to be the sickeningly sweet smell of chloroform.

Fear coursed through her veins, and her instincts kicked into overdrive. She knew what this meant, Charles was trying to render her unconscious.

Her heart raced as she fought to stay alert, her mind racing to find a way to escape this perilous situation.

But despite her best efforts to resist and trying not to inhale, she couldn't hold her breath forever and soon released it.

The noxious fumes thereby having access into her system and soon began to take their toll.

"There...there, inhale a little more." She could hear Charles say as she struggled but grew weaker as the chemical continued to work its way into her system.

Her vision dimmed, and her limbs felt heavy as lead.

Camilla's world swirled around her, and the final image before her vision dimmed entirely was her phone, lying screen-down by the base of the bedside table.

The room finally fell into eerie silence, save for the sound of Charles' heavy breathing as he leaned over Camilla's unconscious body.

His hazel eyes gleamed with triumph as he carefully picked her up and carried her to the bed.

He laid her down gently, his touch almost fatherly as he brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

"Sleep tight, my dear Camilla...When you wake up, everything will be just as it should be," he said softly, a sickening smile gracing his lips.
