Chapter 229 - 142: Cultivators Descend, the Ten Thousand Souls Banner
Chapter 229 - 142: Cultivators Descend, the Ten Thousand Souls Banner
Everyone in the audience was stunned.
They clearly hadn’t expected the old woman to say such things.
But the old woman paid them no mind.
She continued, "That young upstart slanders Cultivators, but in my humble opinion, for him to resist Cultivators with his pathetic bit of power is like an ant trying to shake a great tree!"
"Furthermore, that ’Martial Scripture’ he’s promoting is, as I see it, an evil book that is heretical and goes against the laws of heaven!"
She spoke with eloquence, trampling Li Chang’an and his Martial Scripture into the dirt. She stopped just short of pointing a finger in Li Chang’an’s face and cursing him out.
At some point, the crowd below the stage had fallen silent.
The old woman didn’t notice anything amiss at first, but as she went on, she realized no one was making a sound. She looked up and saw a handsome, elegant young man standing not far from her.
The old woman was startled. After warily sizing Li Chang’an up for a moment, she asked, "Who are you?"
Because Li Chang’an had rarely appeared in public these past few years.
Only a handful of his closest confidants would recognize his current appearance.
Thus, the old woman’s first reaction upon seeing him was merely a sense of unease; she didn’t recognize him immediately.
Li Chang’an wasn’t angry. He smiled. "Who I am isn’t important. What’s important is that you should continue speaking!"
Seeing the old woman’s confusion, Li Chang’an kindly reminded her, "You were just talking about things being ’heretical and against the laws of heaven’!"
The old woman sensed a sinister quality about Li Chang’an. After all, she hadn’t detected his approach at all.
She subtly shot a look at the burly man behind her, then said in a level tone, "Sir, if you do not agree with my words, you are free to turn and leave. Why stay here and look for trouble?"
Li Chang’an smiled. "Do you really not know who I am?"
The old woman’s expression flickered, but she said nothing.
She had already guessed.
Li Chang’an continued, "I’ve been wondering for a while. Since the Cultivators left so many entrances in this world, how could they not have left other failsafes? From the looks of it, you’re the failsafes they left behind, aren’t you?"
As he said this, he paused, then lightly kicked the ground.
The wooden floorboards beneath him instantly exploded. The burly man, who had stealthily crept under Li Chang’an’s feet at some unknown moment, was caught completely off guard. The kick struck him, and his entire body blew apart into a shower of flesh and blood.
The old woman’s pupils contracted sharply. She had anticipated that Li Chang’an might come, and she had foreseen that his power would likely be terrifying.
But now, seeing Li Chang’an actually make a move, she was still thoroughly shocked.
After stomping the burly man to death, Li Chang’an appeared by the old woman’s side like a phantom. He grabbed her by the throat and asked, "Speak. Are you the Cultivators’ spies?"
Naturally, the old woman wouldn’t admit it.
She slammed her staff into the ground, and a huge crater instantly appeared at her feet, sending splinters of wood and fragments of earth flying.
Li Chang’an was not forced back by her attack.
He leaped up from the ground, still holding the old woman’s throat with one hand. He squeezed hard, but not only did the old woman not die, her body went boneless and slipped right through the gaps between his fingers.
All around them, disciples of the Cyan Mountain Sect and the Iron Back Sect charged forward to attack.
They wielded Hook Locks and Cover Nets, throwing them at Li Chang’an in an attempt to trap him.
In the process, everyone present noticed that the aura these disciples emanated was completely different from that of an ordinary Martial Artist. Their entire beings exuded a sense of transcending the mortal world!
Li Chang’an narrowed his eyes.
He had guessed correctly.
’To prevent the development of this world’s Martial Artists from getting out of hand, the Cultivators planted their nails. Under normal circumstances, the Cyan Mountain Sect and Iron Back Sect ignore worldly affairs.’
’Only when the world’s development exceeds the Cultivators’ expectations do these dogs raised by the Cultivators jump out and start making their move.’
Li Chang’an didn’t hold back any longer.
There were several hundred disciples from the two major Sects, all of them emitting an aura completely different from that of Martial Artists. Not only was their combat prowess formidable, but their stamina also seemed endless.
If anyone else had been besieged here today, they would have inevitably met their end, their body and soul obliterated.
But Li Chang’an was different.
He was a monster—and not just a monster of the Martial Dao, but one who could control a portion of genetic power!
Through cellular evolution, he too possessed a nearly inexhaustible supply of stamina.
Even if all these disciples charged at him at once, they were no match for him.
RUMBLE!!!
SQUELCH...
BANG! BANG! BANG!...
The battle outside the Cyan Mountain Sect lasted for half a day.
Blood stained the ground red.
Li Chang’an tossed aside his blood-soaked shirt, walked up to the old woman, and asked again, "Are you ready to be sensible and answer my questions now?"
Although the old woman had escaped Li Chang’an’s grasp and saved her life earlier, she had lost most of her combat strength in the process.
Now, she looked at Li Chang’an, who still appeared completely unscathed.
The old woman’s expression was at first terrified, but a moment later, that terror turned to madness. She shrieked, "Even if you kill me, I won’t tell you a single thing! It won’t be long before my master descends upon this world! He will surely resurrect me... And you! And you! All of you will die!"
The old woman’s face was savage, her expression crazed.
It was clear he wouldn’t get anything out of her.
Li Chang’an readily granted her wish, smashing her head into a pulp like a rotten watermelon with a single palm strike. To prevent any resurrection or reanimation, he then used his Spiritual Power to completely annihilate the old woman’s Divine Soul.
