Chapter 239: Capital, Elarion
Chapter 239: Capital, Elarion
As Eleanor went past the two princes, Rowan was still contemplating the former’s earlier words.
"Adopting a few dogs?" Rowan knitted his brows. "Does she like dogs? How come there was no information about that?"
’You dumb battle maniac...’ Sylas resisted the urge to curse him aloud.
He knew this brother of his was gullible, but even this was quite the extreme.
That so-called blind strategist had indirectly addressed them as dogs who could be adopted and trained into submission.
Sylas facepalmed and whispered, "I think it’s because the Crown Prince behaves like an irrational dog. So the strategist was talking about adopting Leonard and training him to become a good boy."
Realization quickly dawned upon Rowan.
"I see." He clasped his hands and nodded in agreement. "I still don’t get why Father would appoint him as the Crown Prince. What rights does he have?"
’Still more right than a brainless fart.’ Sylas sneered inwardly. Had it not been for the fact that Rowan was easy to manipulate and deceive, even after being given some facts and having some suspicion. Then Sylas wouldn’t have entertained him for so long.
Despite Sylas’s internal complaint, his eyes shifted to Eleanor’s somewhat friendly approach toward Leonard.
’Is this strategist trying to take over the Valdoria Continent through Leonard?’ Sylas clenched his fist secretly. Although he despised Leonard, this was ultimately still an internal political conflict between them.
’Seems like your ambition isn’t small, dear strategist.’ Initially, he planned to use Eleanor to help his political faction, but it was very apparent that the latter had another person in mind.
To think she would attempt to enter Leonard’s faction. She must have believed an incompetent Crown Prince was the ideal target to sneak in.
Nevertheless, Sylas refused to let Leonard recruit a prominent strategist.
He was about to approach them until he was blocked by two people.
"Apologies, Prince Sylas and Prince Rowan. The Crown Prince is having a private conversation with Princess Eleanor." Curtis halted them.
"Do pardon the situation. Our Miss has just been ambushed on the Virellian Sea and is currently not in the mood to entertain the two princes." Albert similarly chimed in and bowed slightly.
"Not in the mood?" Rowan snapped. He raised his hand and pointed at Leonard. "Then what is your Miss doing right now? Why is he entertaining Leonard?"
’This damn clown. If you want your face to be slapped, then don’t drag me into it.’ Sylas suppressed the urge to curse at Rowan’s stupidity.
Wasn’t it blatantly obvious by now that Eleanor was after Leonard?
What was the point of those questions?
Sure enough, Albert chuckled amusingly and responded. "The person you’re referring to is the Crown Prince of Aldros. His status is naturally not something our Miss can ignore unless you wish to provoke a war between our two continents."
’There it is!’ Sylas pursed his lips.
Although Albert’s words were very subtle, his implication was that their status was inferior to that of Leonard and that they had no right to have an audience with Eleanor.
Sylas seriously wanted to smack Rowan for this humiliation.
It was clear that Albert wanted to be polite and give them a leeway, but Rowan just had to lean his face closer to be slapped. As if that wasn’t enough, he even dragged him into getting slapped along as collateral damage.
"You—" Rowan was about to escalate the situation further until Sylas promptly reacted.
"Since your Miss is busy, we won’t delay her." Sylas interrupted and dragged Rowan away.
Needless to say, Sylas made sure to warn in a low tone. "Third Brother, the situation isn’t ideal. If we escalate the situation here and news reaches our father, we’ll be punished."
With Emperor Kaelion’s name being dropped, Rowan also suppressed his impulsiveness and adhered to Sylas’s words to exit the premises.
While this farce occurred, back at Leonard’s side, he was immensely jealous of them for being kicked out.
’I also want to leave.’ Leonard lamented inwardly, finding his third and fourth brothers to have insane luck.
"Hmm, Leon seemed very reluctant to interact with me." Amidst his subtle depression, Eleanor suddenly spoke in a down tone. "Could it be that Leon despises my blindness and thinks I’m incapable of interaction?"
’Can you stop using your blindness as a weapon?’ Leonard rolled his eyes. Rather than thinking she’s blind, he was perceiving her as a dangerous predator.
"Didn’t we interact enough back at the sea? What more do you want from me?" Leonard scratched his head and asked.
"It’s my first time in the capital, Elarion." Eleanor softly spoke.
"As the Crown Prince, you wouldn’t mind being a tour guide for a princess from another continent, right? This is the proper etiquette and method to maintain the two continents’ relationship."
Once again, Leonard found himself caught in her devious trap.
What proper etiquette?
This was blackmail!
"I also don’t know much about the capital. Since I was young, I was always cooped up in my palace, so I’m unsuitable to be your tour guide." Leonard responded with a polite refusal.
His explanation wasn’t a complete lie. The original Leonard indeed was cooped up in his palace and rarely explored much of the capital.
The current him only knew and understood the geography because he studied it from the library.
"That’s great." Eleanor suddenly clasped her hands. "We’re both ignorant of the landscape in the capital. We can take this chance to explore together and enjoy our first unique moment."
"Hah..."
He was rendered speechless.
How should he say it?
Eleanor’s mindset was truly unique and eccentric.
He tried to understand her logic flow, but to no avail.
There were numerous instances where he thought he had predicted her response, only to be proven wrong.
No wonder she was famed as the Great Strategist!
The mind of a strategist was impossible to deduce.
"You win, Princess Eleanor." Leonard resigned to his fate and accepted the job of a tour guide. The premises might have been secured, but he was certain that spies from multiple factions were present.
He couldn’t afford to damage the Crown Prince’s status, lest others would use it as leverage to attack him on the basis of causing a continent-wide war.
