Chapter 636: What Rewards Do You Wish To Have?
Chapter 636: What Rewards Do You Wish To Have?
Exhausted from the dungeon expedition, the three teenagers slept longer than usual and only woke up at noon.
When Alex woke up, he saw Dim Dim munching on potato chips while watching something in a twelve-inch T.V.
Alex peeked. From the looks of it, the movie’s genre seemed to be xianxia, where people fought with swords and flew to the skies while unleashing powerful attacks that shoot out from their swords.
"Who is the main character in this movie, Dim Dim?" Alex asked.
"Dim Dim."
"His name is Zion Leventis, also known as Thirteen?"
"Dim!"
"I can only imagine the budget they had for this movie." Alex commented. "Look at that flashy special effect. Did that staff just grow to the size of a mountain? That reminds me of the legend of Sun Wukong."
Dim Dim blinked once, then twice, before taking a bite of its potato chip. It wanted to tell Alex that it wasn’t watching a movie but the live feed of a battle that would decide the fate of the multiverse.
Truth be told, Dim Dim also wanted to join the battle. But its friends, Lily, Cupid, and Eriol, stopped it, saying Dim Dim was still a baby and should leave the fighting to them!
Impressed by the scenes, Alex became engrossed and watched the battle with Dim Dim.
The little bun even offered its potato chips to Alex, who accepted the offer.
"Wow! This is insane!" Alex said in amazement. "Is that a G*ndam?! What is that doing there?!"
A moment later, the scene changed to a baby slime wearing a pirate hat, and riding on a pirate ship.
"Wait... I feel like I’ve seen this slime before," Alex muttered.
"Dim!" Dim Dim saw its best friend and raised its stubby hand, which was still holding a potato chip, to cheer on her.
"Wait, is that Eiko?" Alex finally remembered the baby slime he had met in Slime Paradise. "What is she doing there? Is she actually a celebrity I just don’t recognize?"
"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim raised its body proudly, telling Alex who Eiko was.
"The Fairy Princess?" Alex blinked. "And she’s the captain of the Boom Boom Pirate Crew?"
"Dim!"
"Wow... I should have asked for her autograph back then."
Dim Dim looked very happy. Finally, Alex was learning how amazing its best friend was. But the little bun was also a little sad.
It should have been there with Eiko, wearing a pirate hat as they charged across the sky to attack their enemies.
When the battle finally ended, Alex couldn’t help but be impressed. The Outer Gods were so strong, yet the protectors of the universe still defeated them.
"I wish I could be as strong as them." Alex sighed.
"Dim Dim." Dim Dim nodded. It also wanted to be as strong as its best friend.
The "movie" lasted for three hours. Only when it ended did Alex realize he was hungry. The potato chips he ate with Dim Dim hadn’t helped much with his satiety.
"I’ll check if the others are awake so we can all eat together," Alex said to Dim Dim. "Are you coming?"
"Dim!" Dim Dim nodded.
It planned to talk to Eiko later in their own Chat Group and thank her for fighting to protect all the worlds in their realm, including its world, Arcana.
What Alex had thought to be a simple movie was actually a battle that had just decided whether their universe would be destroyed or not.
This time, they won.
But now that the Outer Gods had managed to cross over to their realm, future battles with them were inevitable.
Because of this, Dim Dim wished it could grow stronger along with Alex. That way, they could also fight and protect their world against the invasion of the Outer Worlders.
For now, they were still weak and couldn’t be involved with such large-scale battles.
When they knocked on Renard’s and Chuck’s doors, they realized that the two had left their rooms.
Fortunately, the two teenagers were at the dining hall and had just finished ordering their early dinner.
"So, what’s the plan now?" Chuck asked. "Are we returning to the dungeon?"
"Well... For this trip, I applied for one week of activity leave, so we have enough time to return to the dungeon," Alex replied. "We can go tomorrow morning. Why don’t we use the rest of today to resupply and recover our strength?"
Chuck nodded in agreement. Nearly all of their health potions were used up from helping the other injured adventurers.
They need to restock in case of emergency.
As the three young men waited for the food they ordered, Astrea, Cassian, and their three knights also arrived at the dining hall and saw them.
They immediately went to their table, thanking them for their rescue.
Cassian now looked better, having received proper rest and treatment from a high-ranking cleric sent by the Rizz Family.
When they told the Duke it was his son’s party that saved them, Duke Marius looked surprised. He didn’t expect his son and his friends to reach the lower floors of the dungeon within such a short time.
He even asked if Chuck was fine, to which the brother and sister confirmed he was alright. Hearing that, the Duke seemed to look relieved. It was good that his son didn’t suffer any injuries.
"Thank you again for your help," Cassian said. "If you guys didn’t arrive when you did, we might have been in serious trouble."
"Serious trouble is putting it lightly, brother," Astrea commented. "We’d certainly be dead by now if they didn’t arrive to save us."
"You’re right." Cassian agreed. "What rewards do you wish to have? As long as we can accommodate it, we will give it to you without fail."
"There’s no need for rewards," Alex replied. "We only did what we thought was right."
"We are in the same academy, so helping fellow students is a must." Chuck supported his friend’s statement.
"I want gold as a reward," Renard said without hesitation, making Alex and Chuck look at their friend as if they had been betrayed.
Renard ignored their gazes, which made Cassian chuckle.
"Indeed, gold it is." Cassian nodded before taking out a pouch from his storage ring. "This pouch contains 500 gold coins. If that’s not enough, I’ll ask my father for more."
"No, this is already plenty," Renard replied as he took the pouch. "Thank you very much."
He then gave Chuck and Alex the "this is mine, so don’t even think about it" gaze, making the two shake their heads helplessly.
They had forgotten that their circumstance and Renard’s circumstance were different.
Renard was a commoner, so he needed money more than them. That was why he didn’t think twice before asking for gold when Cassian offered to give them a reward.
"Anyway, will the three of you go back to the dungeon?" Cassian asked in a serious tone. "If yes, I suggest you don’t cross the 15th Floor. That’s where the Crimson Mantis is located."
"It is crawling with insect-type monsters." Astrea shuddered. "They are very fast, and deadly."
"Perfect," Alex replied.
"Dim Dim." Dim Dim smirked.
That was the exact reason Alex wished to go to the deeper levels of the Dungeon of Beasts. From the 15th Floor to the 20th Floor, insect-type monsters would spawn.
It was the perfect place to raise their rank, especially since they had a secret weapon extremely effective against such powerful enemies.
After failing to convince the three teenagers to reconsider, Cassian decided to bid his goodbye.
"I’ll see you back in the academy, Alex," Astrea said with a smile before walking closer to the young man to whisper something in his ear. "Don’t forget the treasure chests. This time, we will get something good!"
She still couldn’t get over her latest fluke, which made her feel that her luck might have taken a toll after facing the Crimson Mantis.
Cassian noticed that his sister seemed to be very close with the "Blackmail King" of the academy, which made him frown.
However, thinking that the young man was one of their saviors, he decided to hold back. For now. He wouldn’t make a scene and would just ask his sister about it once they were back to the academy.
"I’ve always thought the Nocturne Family was a snobby lineage," Chuck said when he was certain that their acquaintances were no longer around. "I guess I was wrong. Cassian seems to be a decent guy, and his sister is also very polite.
"There are rumors in the academy saying Cassian is a siscon and that anyone who would try to court Astrea would be in for a challenge."
"Indeed." Alex nodded. "Fortunately, I have prior experience in dealing with a siscon."
"Um? What did you say?" Chuck blinked.
"Nothing." Alex coughed lightly.
A moment later, their food finally arrived, and the three teenagers focused on their meal. After that, they went on their separate ways to restock the supplies they needed for their second round of dungeon expedition.
