Chapter 1269: The King Awoken!
Chapter 1269: The King Awoken!
Lyon reclined on the grand throne, perched atop an expansive set of marble stairs that descended gracefully into the wide-open arena below. Massive pillars lined either side of the staircase, towering into the sky, but there was no roof above—just the endless expanse of the heavens. Clouds drifted lazily between the stairs, their soft shadows casting fleeting patterns across the floor. The throne itself was magnificent, carved from ancient stone, adorned with intricate designs that hinted at a forgotten era of power and splendor.
Lyon, however, looked completely at ease, sprawled across the throne like it was an ordinary chair. His posture was loose, head tilted back, and his eyes half-closed, as if caught between wakefulness and a light nap. His hand lazily dangled over the edge of the armrest, fingers twitching slightly, almost as if his subconscious was still working even while he rested. The grand space around him seemed to hum with energy, but the Emperor of Empyrean paid it no mind.
The peaceful silence was interrupted by a soft, familiar voice that carried through the open air, teasing yet warm.
"Who is the next one?"
Lyon’s eyelids fluttered open slowly, the remnants of a smirk forming at the corner of his lips. He let out a long, exaggerated stretch, still lounging across the throne. The clouds above shifted slightly, casting a new light on his relaxed figure.
"Oh..." Lyon smirked, his voice playful yet groggy. "Can you guess?"
Maria stood at the base of the stairs, arms crossed, her gaze steady and amused as she looked up at him. She was framed perfectly by the pillars on either side, her calm presence in stark contrast to Lyon’s easygoing demeanor. The soft wind tousled her hair as she tilted her head, lips pursed in thought.
"Hmm..." Maria mused, tapping her chin with mock seriousness. "Is it in the Sixth Heaven?"
Lyon nodded, letting out a satisfied hum, shifting to sit up a little more on the throne. "Indeed, pretty close to Paradise."
Maria’s eyes glinted as she counted on her fingers, still standing below him, "There are three left... the honorable pig, your other mother, and the red-eyed tiger."
Lyon stood up from the throne, the relaxed air around him shifting to something more resolute as he stretched his arms out, glancing at the sky. "Yggdrasil said, ’There is an insurmountable power hosting the mountain of Sixth Heaven. The pressure there was once used as a trial for the Gathering of the Six, but every single one of them failed.’"
"Insurmountable power..." Maria repeated thoughtfully, her gaze narrowing. She turned to Lyon, eyes wide with realization. "It’s got to be..."
Lyon nodded, finishing her thought, "Most likely... Cecile’s benefactor."
Maria’s eyes widened further, and she gasped softly, "It is him..."
Lyon smirked, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Who else would be arrogant enough to camp out at the peak of Sixth Heaven but him?"
Suddenly, Rui appeared atop Lyon’s head, the small Moon Hare crossing its paws. Its white fur shimmered under the open sky, contrasting against the vastness of the throne. "So reckless, yet so powerful," Rui murmured.
In quick succession, more of Lyon’s companions materialized around him. Sun, the Devil Ape, stood tall with his arms crossed, while Shen, the True Dragon, coiled around one of the nearby pillars. Sun gave a huff, "Older brother is nothing more than power incarnate."
Ma, the Undying Horse, stomped a hoof as he appeared, his presence grounded yet reverberating with ancient wisdom. "He is not just powerful. That power is the fruit of his unyielding determination."
Muspell Duran, the Almighty Ox, emerged next, a broad smirk playing on his face as his massive form overshadowed even the mighty pillars. "It seems he’s gotten bored without proper competition," Duran rumbled. "Lyon, fetch me the big cat."
Bapho, the Calamity Goat, snorted with a deep chuckle, his fiery eyes gleaming. "Hohoho, cease your jest, Duran. The savage one doesn’t take jokes lightly."
Finally, Tiangou, the Meteor Dog, padded forward with silent grace. His intense gaze flickered between them all before nodding solemnly. "For once, I agree with Bapho."
Lyon smiled, his gaze shifting slightly as he called out, "Assid."
From behind, Assid appeared almost instantly, his posture firm as he knelt. "Yes, Your Majesty?" His voice was respectful, but with a quiet intensity that echoed the weight of Lyon’s words.
"When is the Gathering of the Six?" Lyon asked, his tone casual but with an undercurrent of anticipation.
"A week from now, Your Majesty," Assid answered without hesitation.
Lyon exhaled, his eyes narrowing as he gazed beyond the grand staircase. "Things are moving really fast..." he muttered, his voice trailing off as if he was mentally pacing through the possibilities.
Just then, Selena ascended the grand staircase, her figure graceful yet commanding. "Darling," she called out softly, her voice drawing Lyon’s attention, "Are you joining the Gathering of the Six?"
Lyon’s smirk widened, a glint of excitement flashing across his features. "Of course," he replied, but the playfulness in his eyes quickly faded as his expression darkened. "The recruiting of Seraphs... stops here."
The weight of his declaration lingered in the air, a silent promise that reverberated through the open expanse of the Empyrean throne, carrying with it the certainty of an impending reckoning.

Meanwhile, in the Sixth Heaven, a realm of towering mountains and sacred power, the strongest clans stirred in their isolated domains.
In a secluded chamber, Mavis sat cross-legged, the air around him humming with the potent energy of his cultivation. His breathing was slow, controlled. Suddenly, his chest rose with a final deep inhale, and his eyes shot open. A bright glow emanated from his body as his aura flared up.
"Yes!" Mavis exclaimed, his fists tightening as he reveled in his newfound strength. "Celestial Realm at last!" His voice echoed in the stillness of the chamber. Years of effort had finally brought him to the threshold of unimaginable power.
Far across the realm, Azleid was seated, his body relaxed but the energy swirling within him crackled with precision. He opened his eyes, glancing at his open palms, feeling the immense power coursing through him.
A smirk spread across his face. His reflection in the water beside him rippled with his movement. "The sky isn’t the limit anymore," he whispered, his eyes gleaming. He clenched his fist, feeling the raw force in his grip.
In a serene, sunlit grove, Lyra was perched atop the highest tree, her legs crossed in perfect meditation. As her eyelids fluttered open, a soft chirp broke the silence. A small bird landed gracefully on her outstretched hand, its tiny feathers shimmering in the soft light.
Lyra smiled gently, her eyes reflecting the bird’s peaceful nature. "The winds carry more than just songs now..." she murmured, her gaze drifting toward the vast horizon. Her spirit felt lighter, stronger.
At the heart of a peaceful pond, a giant lotus flower floated serenely, and atop it sat Ning, her form silhouetted by the soft glow of floating fire spirits that danced around her. Her eyes opened slowly, the flames reflecting in their depths.
A small smile curved her lips as the energy from the lotus infused her body. "The fire is ready to burn brighter," she whispered to herself, her fingers grazing the surface of the pond, causing the water to ripple with warmth.
In her dimly lit room, Esmeralda stood by a window, gazing up at the star-filled night sky. Her brow furrowed, a deep sense of worry gnawing at her. The calm beauty of the stars brought no comfort tonight.
Her thoughts were clouded. She could feel the power shifting across the Sixth Heaven, but something else lingered, something dark. "What are you planning, Lyon?" she whispered to the night, her heart heavy with uncertainty.
In a dark, still chamber, the only sound was the slow, steady breathing of Yuri. His eyes remained closed, his body motionless, yet the sheer power surrounding him was palpable. His cultivation was deep, focused, and undisturbed by the turbulence outside.
Despite his calm demeanor, there was an intensity within him, building like a storm waiting to be unleashed.
At the highest peak of the Sixth Heaven, a place where even the clouds feared to tread, the landscape was one of pure dominance. The jagged edges of the mountain cut through the sky, standing tall above the entire realm. The winds dared not howl here, and even the clouds bowed to the overwhelming presence. No birds flew overhead, no creatures dared to approach. Trees that managed to cling to life bent unnaturally, almost as if submitting to the one who claimed this summit as its throne.
Perched atop a massive stone that overlooked the entire world below, a colossal beast stirred. Its body was immense, rippling with muscle and fur that glistened like molten bronze in the fading sunlight. This was not merely a creature—it was a king, one who held the Sixth Heaven in its grasp.
Its eyes, blood-red like a predator’s full of raw, untamed power, flickered open. The gaze was sharp, focused, and terrifying. For a moment, silence gripped the entire mountain, as if the world itself held its breath. Then, a low rumble began to resonate from deep within the beast’s throat.
A growl. Deep, guttural, and primal. It reverberated through the entire mountain, sending shockwaves down its spine. The trees at the mountain’s base quivered, shaking from the sheer force of its presence. The ground trembled, and even the stone upon which the beast rested seemed to groan under the weight of its mighty roar.
The king was awake, and his presence alone sent ripples of fear through the realms beneath him.
