Chapter 1235: Basilisk

Chapter 1235: Basilisk

Graham and Assid raced through the air in pursuit of Lumina, each displaying their unique styles of combat and agility. The sky was a battlefield, filled with the echoes of fierce clashes and the rush of wind.

Graham was a force of nature, his massive form plowing through any beast that dared cross his path. His powerful arms swung with lethal precision, dispatching creatures with brutal efficiency. Each blow sent shockwaves through the air, his battle cries blending with the roars of his enemies.

"Out of my way!" Graham bellowed, his voice a thunderous roar as he crushed a Garuda with a single strike. "I have no time for you!"

Ahead, Lumina struggled against the invisible force pulling her toward the center of the canyon. Her wings beat furiously, but she was losing ground. Graham’s eyes locked onto her, his determination unwavering.

"Hold on, Lumina! I’m coming!" Graham’s voice cut through the chaos, a beacon of strength and resolve.

Assid, in stark contrast, moved like a shadow, silent and deadly. His sleek form weaved through the air with uncanny grace, his movements almost imperceptible. He struck with swift, precise attacks, his blade flashing in the dim light as he eliminated threats with surgical precision.

"Stay focused, Graham," Assid’s voice was calm and composed, a stark contrast to the chaos around them. "We need to reach her together."

Graham grunted in response, his focus never wavering. He smashed through a Quetzalcoatl, sending its body tumbling to the ground below. "Just keep them off me, Assid! I’ll clear the path!"

Assid nodded, his eyes narrowing as he spotted a group of Wyrms converging on their position. "Consider it done."

With a swift, fluid motion, Assid darted through the air, his blade slicing through the Wyrms with lethal efficiency. His movements were almost too fast to follow, a blur of shadow and steel.

Lumina’s struggles grew more desperate as she neared the center of the canyon. The pull of the Tempest fruit was almost overwhelming, its malevolent energy seeking to ensnare her completely.

"Lumina, hang on!" Graham’s voice was a lifeline, his powerful form closing the distance between them.

Suddenly, a Bahamut swooped down, its massive jaws snapping at Graham. He dodged to the side, his fist connecting with the beast’s head in a bone-crushing blow. "Not today!" he roared, his eyes blazing with fury.

Assid, sensing the danger, moved to intercept another Bahamut that targeted Lumina. His blade flashed, and the beast fell, its body plummeting to the ground below.

"We’re almost there!" Assid called out, his voice steady despite the chaos. "Stay with us, Lumina!"

Lumina’s eyes met Assid’s, a flicker of hope igniting within them. She redoubled her efforts, her wings beating with renewed strength.

Kesya darted through the canyon, her feet barely touching the ground as she left a trail of fallen beasts in her wake. Her hair, now a feisty black, whipped around her like a shadow, and her eyes were sharp, missing nothing. Each step was calculated, each strike precise, and her movements were a blur of lethal efficiency.

As she looked up, she saw Lumina struggling ahead, the dragon princess’s wings beating furiously. Kesya’s determination only grew stronger, her pace quickening. The canyon walls seemed to close in around her, but she moved with a predator’s grace, undeterred by the chaotic environment.

Suddenly, the ground beneath her began to tremble, and Kesya’s senses went on high alert. Goosebumps rose on her skin as she felt a deep rumbling from below. The entire canyon was shaking as if something immense was stirring underground.

"Hmm?!" Lyon’s brows furrowed, his sharp eyes scanning the shifting terrain. The quakes grew more intense, and the rocks around them began to crack and crumble.

"Something’s coming!" Cecile’s voice rang out, a warning laced with urgency.

In an instant, a massive set of teeth burst upward from the ground, gnawing through the earth with terrifying force. Sand and debris slipped through its fangs as the enormous creature rose, its scales blending seamlessly with the rocky surroundings. It snapped a wary dragon-like beast in two, its monstrous jaws closing with a sickening crunch.

The shadow of the creature stretched over the canyon, casting a pall over the battlefield. Its yellow eyes gleamed with a malevolent intelligence, and its scales, the same color as the canyon itself, glistened ominously.

"A basilisk..." Lyra’s voice was barely a whisper, her fear palpable. She stood frozen, her breath caught in her throat as she stared at the monstrous serpent. The sight of the basilisk sent chills down her spine, her heart pounding in her chest. Each beat was a reminder of the imminent danger, and her feet felt like ice.

The basilisk’s presence loomed over them, a harbinger of doom, as the canyon itself seemed to come alive with its terrifying roar.

"W...we should run..." Lyra’s voice trembled, her fear almost tangible.

Luna looked up, seeing Lyon advancing with unyielding resolve. Despite her own rapid heartbeat, she shook her head. "No..."

"W...what?" Lyra turned to her, confusion mingling with her fear.

"You are going to learn what my husband is capable of, fairy," Maria said with a wink, a confident smile playing on her lips.

Lyra’s eyes widened in surprise, her apprehension momentarily giving way to curiosity.

The Tetragram Chariot rumbled forward, its momentum unwavering as it faced the basilisk. The horses showed no fear, their determination mirroring that of their master.

Kesya, momentarily in awe of the scene above, suddenly felt a shadow pass by her. "Ack? Liu, wait for me!! That’s mine!"

Liu, the phantom, moved with purpose, his form flickering in and out of visibility under the sun. With an invisible blade in his hand, he leaped and unraveled himself before the towering basilisk.

The basilisk, its yellow eyes narrowing, reared back, preparing to strike. Liu’s form shifted, his movements a blur as he darted toward the beast. The air around him seemed to shimmer, his blade glinting as it caught the light.

Lyon’s chariot charged ahead, unwavering. The horses galloped through the air, each step thundering with power. Lyon stood tall, his eyes locked onto the basilisk, determination etched into his features.

As Liu closed in on the basilisk, Kesya followed suit, her hair whipping behind her as she sprinted. She watched as Liu deftly maneuvered, his invisible blade slicing through the air with precision.

"That’s my prey, Liu!" Kesya called out, a competitive grin on her face.

Liu glanced back, his expression unreadable. "Try to keep up, Kesya."

With a growl, Kesya pushed herself harder, her feet barely touching the ground as she raced to join the fray. The basilisk’s roar echoed through the canyon, a sound that rattled the very bones of those who heard it.

"Prepare yourself, beast!" Liu shouted, his voice carrying a note of finality.

The basilisk lunged, its massive jaws snapping shut where Liu had been moments before. With a swift, calculated move, Liu reappeared above the beast, his blade slashing down in a brilliant arc.

At the same time, Lyon’s chariot bore down on the basilisk from the opposite direction. The air crackled with tension, the clash between man and monster imminent. As the chariot neared, Lyon’s presence seemed to grow, a force of nature in his own right.

In the midst of the chaos, Lyra watched with wide eyes, the realization dawning on her that she was witnessing something extraordinary. Her fear was still present, but it was overshadowed by a sense of awe and respect for the individuals who stood against the basilisk.

"He’s... he’s incredible," Lyra whispered to herself, her gaze fixed on Lyon.

Maria, standing beside her, smiled. "Yes, he is. And he’s just getting started."

However, just then, Lyon and his chariot sped past the giant beast as if it were nothing more than a minor obstacle. The basilisk, noticing that prey had slipped by, whipped around with the speed of a striking serpent. Its jaws opened wide, and its eyes locked onto the chariot, poised to strike—until Lyon glanced back.

In that mere second, the basilisk paused. Its instinctive aggression was momentarily halted by the commanding presence in Lyon’s eyes.

Suddenly, a powerful kick connected with the beast’s head. The sound of impact reverberated through the canyon like a thunderclap. Graham, with a single decisive blow, had struck the basilisk with such force that it staggered.

Kesya, catching up from below, left a trail of beast corpses in her wake. Her hair turned a fierce, dark black, her eyes focused with a predator’s intensity. She looked up, seeing that she was keeping pace with Lumina. The ground beneath her rumbled, sending a shiver up her spine.

However, just then, Lyon and his chariot went past the giant beast like it was nothing. The basilisk, noticing a prey slip by, turned around with the speed and agility of a serpent. Its jaw opened, eyes fixated on the chariot, ready to strike.

But then Lyon glanced over. Just for a mere second, their eyes met. The basilisk paused, its ferocity dimmed by the sheer force of Lyon’s gaze.

In that instant, Graham launched himself at the beast. With a thunderous roar, he unleashed a powerful kick at the basilisk’s head. The impact reverberated through the canyon, echoing like a war drum. The force was so immense that the ground beneath the basilisk cracked, sending shockwaves through the rocky terrain.

The basilisk staggered, its head snapping back from the blow. Dust and debris exploded from the point of impact, momentarily obscuring the view. As the dust settled, the basilisk’s massive form wavered, disoriented by the unexpected assault.
