Chapter 1229: Ardentia
Chapter 1229: Ardentia
Third Heaven was a realm of immense beauty and boundless energy. It was a place where the skies were perpetually a vibrant shade of cerulean, with clouds that shimmered like spun silver. The air was thick with the scent of blooming flowers and the distant hum of powerful ley lines that coursed beneath the ground, the purest form of energy in the Mortal World.
The city of Ardentia was a bustling metropolis, one of the grandest in Third Heaven. It was a place where divine architecture met the raw beauty of nature, with towering spires of crystal and gold interwoven with lush, verdant gardens. Streets paved with luminous stones wound through the city, reflecting the light in a myriad of colors. The air was filled with the sounds of commerce and conversation, as merchants hawked their wares and citizens went about their daily lives.
In the central plaza, a grand fountain stood, its waters sparkling with a light of their own. Statues of ancient heroes and mythical beasts adorned the surrounding gardens, each telling a story of valor and legend. The people of Ardentia were a diverse mix, from celestial beings with wings of light to mortals who had ascended to this lofty realm through sheer determination and power.
Today, however, there was an extra buzz of excitement in the air.
A merchant, setting up his stall, turned to his neighbor and said, "I heard it’s Lyra of the Songbird Clan. They say her voice can tame even the fiercest beasts. Imagine if she performed here in Ardentia!"
A young woman, carrying a basket of flowers, chimed in, "No way! My brother works at the palace and he says it’s Mavis of the Sky Clan. They say he can control the winds and fly faster than a lightning bolt!"
An elderly man sitting on a bench nearby shook his head. "You’re both wrong. It’s Azleid of the Teardrop Clan. I remember the tales from my youth. His power over water is unmatched. They say he can create oceans out of thin air."
Two children, overhearing the conversation, joined in with wide-eyed excitement. "I heard it’s Ning of the Red Lotus Clan," said one. "My friend told me she can summon fire with just a thought and her beauty is like no other."
A shopkeeper organizing his wares added his opinion, "Well, my cousin in the guard says it’s Esmeralda of the Ouroboros Clan. She’s known for her mastery over the art of poison."
As the speculation grew, a blacksmith wiping his brow interjected, "You’re all mistaken. It’s Yuri of the Black Kirin Clan. He’s a warrior through and through, with the strength of a thousand men and the ability to summon the mythical Kirin."
A noblewoman passing by with her entourage couldn’t help but smile at the various theories. "Whoever it is," she said gracefully, "we are honored to welcome a young master of Sixth Heaven. Their presence alone will bless our city."
As the sun reached its zenith, casting a golden glow over the bustling streets of Ardentia, a hush fell over the crowd. All eyes turned toward the grand gate of the palace where the king of the city made a rare public appearance. King Thalor stood tall and regal, his presence commanding respect and admiration from all who beheld him.
King Thalor had a dignified air about him, with silver streaks in his dark hair, a testament to his wisdom and years of rule. His deep-set eyes reflected both kindness and authority, and his strong jawline added to his commanding visage. He wore a rich, deep-blue robe adorned with intricate golden patterns, signifying his royal status and the prosperity of Ardentia under his rule.
Beside him stood his wife, Queen Elara, a vision of grace and beauty. Her golden hair cascaded in waves, and her gentle eyes exuded warmth and compassion. She wore a flowing gown of emerald green, symbolizing the vitality and growth of their beloved city.
Their children, Prince Eamon and Princess Seraphina, stood proudly with their parents. Prince Eamon, the elder, shared his father’s strong features and carried himself with a budding regal air, dressed in a tailored suit of royal blue. Princess Seraphina, younger and full of curiosity, had her mother’s golden hair and wore a dress of pale pink, her wide eyes taking in the spectacle of the gathered crowd.
The citizens of Ardentia watched in awe as their royal family stood united at the palace gates. Whispers spread through the crowd, carrying a mix of reverence and excitement.
"Look, it’s King Thalor! He rarely makes public appearances," a merchant whispered to his neighbor.
Queen Elara’s gentle smile seemed to calm the crowd, and she leaned slightly toward her husband, whispering something that made King Thalor nod. Prince Eamon looked out at the people with a serious expression, while Princess Seraphina’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.
King Thalor raised his hand, and the crowd fell into a respectful silence. "People of Ardentia," his voice boomed, strong and steady, "we are gathered here today for a momentous occasion. We welcome a distinguished guest from Sixth Heaven, a symbol of the bond between our realms and the promise of a prosperous future."
The crowd erupted in applause, their excitement renewed. As King Thalor continued to speak, the anticipation in Ardentia grew, and the city’s vibrant heart beat with the promise of an extraordinary day.
"Assid, did you tell them that I would pay a visit?" asked a cloaked traveler, his face partially hidden as he stood right in front of the others.
One of them stepped forward and spoke from behind. "I did not, my emperor. Perhaps your greatness has reached this place, like it should."
"Hmm, yes, that would be it," said the traveler before smiling. "See, Cecile, they always give me a stage to play."
Cecile, standing beside him, chuckled softly.
"Are they the ones?" thought one of the two guards stationed at the city gate. "It doesn’t look like it, but some of the young masters are really humble." He glanced at his partner, whose eyes reflected the same creeping doubt. As Lyon and his companions approached the entrance of Ardentia, the guards tightened their grips on their spears.
Lyon’s steps were measured and confident, a cloak of authority and mystery hanging around him. The hood of his cloak partially obscured his face, but there was an unmistakable air of command about him. Behind him, Cecile, Maria, Selena, and the others followed with equal poise.
"Should we stop them?" the first guard muttered under his breath, his eyes never leaving Lyon.
"No, wait, look at how they walk in," said the guard. "No question about it, they must be the esteemed guests, and the one in front is most likely one of the young masters!" He quickly bowed, and his partner followed suit. "Welcome to Ardentia!" the guards chorused, welcoming Lyon and the group.
Lyon didn’t hesitate, capitalizing on the moment with natural ease. He walked inside, met with the many expectant gazes of the citizens of Ardentia. The bustling street seemed to pause as people turned to watch the newcomers, their eyes filled with curiosity and admiration.
"Look at how they carry themselves," whispered one onlooker to another. "They must be someone important."
"Did you see their leader?" another murmured. "Could he be one of the legendary young masters?"
As they walked, Lyon felt the weight of the city’s attention on him, but he remained unfazed. He had faced far greater challenges than the scrutiny of a curious crowd. Behind him, Cecile, Maria, Selena, and the others followed, exuding a confident and regal aura.
Jugen, however, couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t quite right. He glanced around, noting the whispers and glances from the crowd. "This wasn’t meant to be," he muttered under his breath.
Lyon led the group through the streets, heading toward the grand palace that loomed at the city’s heart. The citizens of Ardentia parted to make way for them, their whispers growing louder.
"They look so powerful," one child said, tugging at her mother’s sleeve. "Are they heroes?"
"Maybe they are," the mother replied with a smile. "Or maybe they’re here to bring something new to our city."
As they approached the palace gates, Lyon saw King Thalor standing with his family. The king’s eyes widened slightly, but he quickly composed himself, stepping forward with a welcoming smile.
"Welcome to Ardentia, esteemed guests," King Thalor said, his voice carrying the authority of his station. "I am King Thalor, and this is my wife, Queen Elara, and our children.
"Thank you for the grand welcome," Lyon said, revealing his face to the king without fully removing the hood of his cloak.
King Thalor’s pupils shrank to mere dots. "W... Who are you?" he stammered, a mixture of confusion and apprehension in his voice.
The crowd was stunned as they looked at their stunned king. Murmurs rippled through the throngs of people gathered in the streets, everyone straining to catch a glimpse of the visitors who had rendered their king speechless.
"Who could they be to shock the king like that?" a woman whispered to her friend.
"I don’t know, but did you see how confident they are? Especially that one in the cloak," her friend replied, eyes wide with curiosity.
