Emperor's Reckoning

Chapter 1207: Buy Him Time!!

Chapter 1207: Buy Him Time!!

Ithildir’s senses sharpened as he rose from his throne, a furrow forming between his brows as he scanned the room. The subtle shift in the atmosphere did not escape his notice, and he could sense the unease spreading among the other elders gathered in the council room.

"Hmm?" he murmured, acknowledging the shared sentiment among his peers. It was as if a ripple had passed through the air, leaving behind a lingering sense of foreboding.

"I’m not the only one feeling that, am I?" one of the elders voiced the question that hung in the air, their tone betraying a hint of uncertainty.

"Certainly not," another elder replied, their voice tinged with concern. The tension in the room was palpable, each member of the council acutely aware that something significant was unfolding, though none could discern the cause of the disturbance.

"It’s as if..." began one of the elders, trailing off as they struggled to articulate the strange sensation permeating the air.

"Something is amiss," finished another elder, their voice tinged with unease as they exchanged concerned glances with their peers.

Ithildir’s jaw tensed slightly, his mind racing with possibilities as he tried to decipher the source of the disturbance. Whatever it was, it had caught the attention of the entire council.

The patriarch of the Orc Clan felt a shiver run down his spine as he observed the unease spreading among his people. The strange sensation, reminiscent of a subtle shift in the flow of energy, seemed to be affecting every member of his clan, from the youngest to the eldest.

"It’s as if..." the patriarch began, his voice trailing off as he struggled to find the words to describe the disconcerting feeling that gripped his heart.

"Could it be the work of Emperor Rakumtatak?" ventured one of the orc elders, their voice tinged with uncertainty as they looked to the patriarch for guidance.

The patriarch shook his head, his brow furrowing in deep concern. "I cannot say for certain," he replied solemnly, "but we must remain vigilant and hope for the best."

Turning his gaze skyward, the patriarch couldn’t shake the nagging worry that weighed heavily on his mind. The fate of their world hung in the balance, and as the strange sensation persisted, he couldn’t help but wonder: were they winning the battle, or was something far more sinister at play?

"Don’t TELL MEEEE.....!!!!" The lord’s voice thundered across the battlefield, causing even the ground beneath them to tremble as if in fear. His eyes blazed with fury and disbelief as he stared at the source of the disturbance, his very foundation shaken by the unexpected turn of events.

"Buy him time! Now!" Cecile’s voice cut through the chaos, her tone commanding as she stepped forward to take charge in Lyon’s absence. The mantle of leadership fell upon her shoulders, and she bore it with steely determination, rallying her allies to action.

Liu, Kesya, Harvestasya, and Karina snapped out of their stunned stupor at Cecile’s directive, their resolve reignited as they turned their gaze towards the Lord of Purgatory. With gritted teeth and fierce determination, they braced themselves for the impending onslaught.

"Yes!!" they shouted in unison, their voices ringing out with unwavering resolve.

"Tooorrrgaaa!!!" With a swift and determined leap, the Lord of Purgatory propelled himself forward like a deadly projectile, his singular focus fixed on his elusive target.

From the sidelines, another bullet of interference was aimed. Rakumtatak seized the distraction orchestrated by Cecile, slipping out of Ebon’s line of sight with calculated precision. With a swift and forceful strike, he drove his elbow into the Lord of Purgatory’s left cheek, sending him hurtling through the air.

"Not so fast!" Rakumtatak’s voice rang out with a mix of determination and defiance.

"You dare?!" Ebon roared in fury as he swiftly closed the distance between himself and Rakumtatak, reigniting their fierce battle with renewed intensity.

"You all really begging to die!" Stygian’s voice cut through the chaos as he prepared to unleash his lance projectiles against Liu and Kesya, his intent clear.

"You think you have the upper hand?" Eleandril’s calm but resolute voice countered as he drew closer, charging his arrow with formidable power.

"Hm?!" Stygian’s eyes widened in surprise as he looked up to see the Elven Emperor, Eleandril, taking aim. The tension in the air crackled with anticipation as the arrow was released, hurtling towards its target with deadly precision.

Stygian’s reflexes kicked into overdrive as he swiftly countered Eleandril’s arrow, deflecting it with precision just enough to evade its deadly trajectory. "Tch! You bastard!" he spat out in frustration.

"I will not let you get near!" Pontiff’s voice boomed as he charged towards Kesya and Liu with ferocious determination, his intent clear.

"Out of our way!!" Kesya’s voice rang out as she leaped forward, taking the lead in the assault with unwavering resolve. Meanwhile, Liu moved with the agility and grace of a phantom, seamlessly vanishing from sight even under the glaring light of day.

The horde of devil cultivators, fueled by their unwavering resolve, continued to press forward relentlessly, their morale at an all-time high as they aimed their attacks at Karina and Harvestasya, two pivotal figures on the battlefield.

Maria, recognizing the imminent danger, wasted no time in taking action. "Out of my way, father," she commanded, her voice carrying a tone of authority and determination that even the Knowledge Keeper couldn’t resist. With a sense of urgency, he found himself overwhelmed by the commanding aura emanating from his own daughter, his body instinctively stepping aside to clear her path.

Maria stepped forward with a sense of purpose, her expression solemn as if she were preparing for a sacred ritual. Closing her eyes briefly, she seemed to commune with unseen forces before opening her mouth to sing. Her voice, carrying the weight of centuries of knowledge and power, echoed across the battlefield, weaving a spellbinding melody that seemed to command the very elements themselves.

Karina, Harvestasya, Liu, Kesya, Rakumtatak, and Eleandril exchanged astonished glances as they felt the surge of energy coursing through them in response to Maria’s song.

"M-Maria..." her father stammered, his disbelief evident in his voice. "You’ve mastered it... the ultimate method of casting magic."

Meanwhile, magical brands appeared at random intervals near the enemy lines, activating a multitude of elemental spells with overwhelming force. Even the lord, as he recovered from the initial shock of the surprise attack, couldn’t hide his astonishment as he witnessed the sheer scale of Maria’s power. His eyes widened in disbelief as he realized the extent of the challenge before him.

"Is she sacrificing her mana to activate all of these magic?" the lord questioned, his voice tinged with surprise. Then, realization dawned upon him. "No, wait... the girl is a Ley-based cultivator!" exclaimed the lord, his realization dawning too late.

"Hm?!" As a pulse echoed through the air, the lord’s attention was drawn once more to the source of the Anti-Mana. Gripping his spear Arma tightly, he wasted no time in rushing towards it, his determination unyielding. With a swing of Arma, he dispersed every magical assault Maria directed at him, undeterred by the onslaught.

Maria’s allies watched in dismay as their attacks were effortlessly thwarted by the lord’s relentless advance. Despite their best efforts, it seemed they were unable to prevent him from reaching his destination.

"We will not let you get near him!" Selena and Cecile declared in unison as they intercepted the lord’s path. Selena brandished her black sword, while Cecile gripped her javelin tightly.

The lord paused, sensing the formidable power emanating from the two women. Six blessings, combined from their respective sources, radiated around them. "You think such borrowed powers are enough to stop me?" he scoffed, his confidence unwavering.

Cecile’s sword tattoo glowed brightly on her nape, pulsing with power, while Selena’s sword hummed with a celestial resonance, forming a dazzling display of over a thousand swords above their heads.

Maria’s voice shifted, and the magical buffs and random spells ceased. With intense focus, she began the next phase of her song, directing her power towards only two individuals: Cecile and Selena, her sisters-in-marriage.

Cecile and Selena watched in awe as the hymns of their weapons multiplied above them, their eyes widening in realization. "To stall," Selena affirmed, her determination clear.

"At all costs! Right, Maria?!" Cecile’s grin was fierce, her resolve matching Selena’s.

Both women felt their auras expanding exponentially, their combined strength surpassing even their own expectations, much to the disbelief of the lord.

The lord’s response was swift and confident. "Fine then! Let’s see who won the race against time!" His voice echoed across the battlefield, carrying the weight of his determination.
