Emperor of the Source

Chapter 332: The Will of Causality

Chapter 332: The Will of Causality

Adrian remained silent, his gaze steady as he observed the two leaders kneeling before him. He understood what they were feeling. The suppression that had once bound every fragment of their existence had been completely erased, leaving behind a consciousness that had endured a million years of forced submission, distortion, and silence. What remained was a mind that was only now relearning how to exist without chains.

One of the leaders slowly lifted his head, urgency breaking through the reverence in his posture as he spoke, "My lord… please… you must not kill him."

Adrian's gaze shifted slightly, settling upon him without a word.

"If he dies… all of them will die."

A faint narrowing appeared in Adrian's eyes as he asked, "What do you mean?"

The man swallowed, forcing his voice to remain steady. "The slave artifacts… they are all bound to him as the central anchor. Morka has a Master-Control chip within him. Within it, his life itself is the trigger condition. The moment his existence ceases… every single artifact linked to him will activate simultaneously. Millions… across this entire galaxy… every enslaved cultivator… their minds will be destroyed in an instant."

His voice cracked slightly on the last words, the horror of what he described evident in every syllable.

Understanding settled immediately. Adrian finally grasped why these two had stepped forward to block him. Even after regaining their freedom, their first instinct had not been revenge, but protection, not for Morka himself, but for the countless lives tied to his existence.

Adrian's gaze drifted past them, settling upon Morka, who remained slumped upon his throne with a hollow expression, his mind unable to process what had just unfolded. Drool continued to gather at the corner of his slack mouth, his three eyes staring at nothing. The grotesque ruler who had commanded the entire galaxy moments before now resembled little more than an empty shell.

"So that is the mechanism…" Adrian murmured quietly, his tone contemplative rather than concerned. "If everything is connected to one point, then all I have to do—"

"My lord," the leader interrupted quickly, urgency filling his tone as he leaned forward slightly. "If you attempt to tamper with the Master-Control Slave artifact directly, it will trigger as well. The divine concept used within this artifact is said to have been created with a Prime Arcane Concept. The will of that concept will fight against you."

Adrian paused slightly at that unfamiliar term. His head tilted fractionally, curiosity flickering across his features. "Prime Arcane Concept? What is it?"

"I do not know the full details," the man replied, his voice apologetic. He glanced briefly at his companion, who shook his head as well, confirming their shared ignorance. "I have only heard fragments… It is said that Prime Arcane Concepts are far beyond ordinary arcane concepts, even beyond something like time, and the will of such a concept is far stronger than anything we have ever seen."

The second leader spoke for the first time, his voice hoarse and strained. "We have witnessed cultivators attempt to remove the chips before. Those with eighty percent authority. All of them failed. The artifact… it fights back. It destroys the one who tries."

Adrian nodded slowly, processing the explanation. Even though this was his first encounter with the idea of a Prime Arcane Concept, he instinctively understood it. It was a higher-order concept, something more refined and fundamental, but in the end, it was still an arcane concept, and arcane concepts were, by their very nature, beneath the Source.

"If that is the case," Adrian said calmly, "then why did the will of that Prime Arcane Concept not activate when I extracted the chips from both of you?"

The two leaders froze, unable to answer immediately. They had been so consumed by the act of liberation that they had not even considered the mechanism behind it. Only now, with clarity returning, did they begin to realize what had truly occurred.

Their eyes lowered instinctively as understanding settled fully. The being standing before them wielded one hundred percent authority, a transcendence beyond the limits of this universe itself. What could a mere Prime Arcane Concept do against such an existence?

They lowered their heads deeply, pressing their foreheads to the floor once more. "Please forgive us… lord…"

Their voices carried genuine shame, not for their words, but for their presumption in believing they could warn such a being about limitations that clearly did not apply to him.

Adrian did not respond to their apology. He stepped forward toward Morka. He extended his hand, and a wisp of Source essence emerged from his palm. It flowed forward and entered Morka's body without resistance. The essence travelled directly into his skull, navigating through bone and tissue as though neither existed, and located the Master-Control chip instantly.

Without hesitation, Adrian extracted it.

The chip tore free from Morka's brain, the connection severing completely. The chip floated in the air before Adrian, held firmly within his Source essence, its functions completely suppressed before it could even attempt activation.

Morka's body slumped further into the throne, his breathing becoming shallow and uneven. Whatever awareness had remained within him flickered even more.

Now undisturbed, Adrian examined the chip closely. He rotated it slowly within his essence, observing it from every angle. The structure was extraordinarily complex, far beyond conventional inscription techniques. Layers of runic patterns were etched upon it, forming a divine concept constructed from multiple arcane concepts.

Adrian could immediately identify several of them: link, resonance, destruction, and then something far more intricate layered beneath them. The deeper structure pulsed faintly, resisting his perception in a way that other concepts never had.

"Causality…" Adrian murmured quietly, his voice barely audible. "This must be the Prime Arcane Concept."

As he analyzed it further, he understood its function completely. The artifact did not read the brain waves or thoughts of someone in a simple sense. It operated on cause and effect. If a being with the slave chip formed intent or action against the owner of the Master-Control chip, that intent became the cause. The chip relayed it instantly, and the owner could then trigger the effect: destruction.

Before Adrian could continue his analysis further—

BOOM!

The Master-Control chip suddenly shattered.

A violent surge of violet energy erupted from where the chip had been, escaping Adrian's control entirely and shooting out of the throne room like a living thing.

Instantly, screams echoed throughout the structure.

Adrian's head snapped toward the sound, his eyes narrowing. The two leaders scrambled to their feet, their expressions shifting to alarm.

Adrian's form blurred as he crossed the distance in an instant, emerging into the corridor beyond. The leaders followed as quickly as their cultivation allowed, their faces pale with dread.

Outside, countless cultivators clutched their heads, their bodies trembling violently as violet energy began to emerge from them one by one. The energy poured from their skulls like smoke, twisting and coiling as it rose upward. Their screams filled the air, raw and agonized, before abruptly cutting off as each one collapsed, unconscious.

The phenomenon spread rapidly. Within seconds, hundreds fell. Then thousands.

"It's happening across the entire headquarters," one of the leaders said, his voice tight with horror.

Adrian's perception expanded outward, his Source domain stretching across the structure. He sensed the same occurrence repeating throughout every level, every corridor, every chamber. Thousands of enslaved cultivators within the headquarters alone were experiencing the same violent release.

This was not limited to the headquarters alone. Across the entire galaxy, the same phenomenon unfolded simultaneously. Millions of enslaved cultivators released the same violet energy, all of it gathering toward a single point in the void above the headquarters.

Adrian and the two leaders moved outside the headquarters into open space.

Above them, the violet energy condensed, forming a massive humanoid silhouette. The shape was indistinct at first, flickering and unstable, but it stabilized gradually until it became a complete entity composed entirely of conceptual energy. The figure towered over the headquarters, easily spanning several kilometres in height. Its form radiated overwhelming presence, not through authority or mana, but through something far more fundamental.

"Manifestation of a concept's will…" one of the leaders muttered, his voice filled with disbelief. His face had gone pale, his hands trembling at his sides. "I have only heard of this in legends…"

He had only heard of such a phenomenon in legends. No one in millions of years had ever triggered the will of a concept to manifest physically, especially not the will of a Prime Arcane Concept.

Adrian observed it silently. His expression remained calm, though his eyes tracked every movement, every shift in the entity's form. Even for him, this was a new sight, yet he understood immediately what stood before him. This was the will of the Prime Arcane Concept, Causality, separated from its divine concept form and manifesting independently.

The entity's head turned slowly, its featureless face angling downward. Though it had no eyes, Adrian felt its attention settle upon him.

At that time, something within him responded. His Source Seed pulsed, a rhythmic thrumming that resonated through his entire being. Heat spread through his chest, then outward, filling every vein with warmth. A voice emerged, not just within him, but resonating outward into the reality itself.

The voice carried no gender, no identifiable tone, yet it felt familiar in a way Adrian could not explain.

"Come to me… child…"

The moment those words resounded, the humanoid form reacted instantly. Its massive body tensed, then collapsed inward with violent speed. In a single incomprehensible motion, it condensed into a sphere of concentrated violet energy no larger than a fist. The sphere shot directly toward Adrian, crossing the distance in less than a heartbeat.

Adrian did not move. He simply watched as the sphere struck his chest and passed through without resistance, merging into his body and sinking directly into his Source Seed.

An overwhelming flood of knowledge surged into his consciousness. The conceptual depth of Causality poured into him: structures, patterns, and rules of causality beyond ordinary comprehension. He saw threads of cause and effect stretching infinitely in all directions, connecting every action to its consequence, every intent to its outcome.

Even Adrian felt the strain as the sheer volume of conceptual information exceeded what could be processed instantly. His vision blurred. His breathing hitched. Pain lanced through his skull, sharp and immediate.

Before it could overwhelm him, his Source Seed reacted, sealing the knowledge within itself. The pain vanished instantly, replaced by a profound stillness.

When Adrian turned his awareness inward, he saw the change clearly. A new chamber had formed within his Source Seed, vast and complex, dedicated entirely to this concept. The chamber was unlike any he had created before. Its walls shimmered with violet light. Countless rule symbols floated within it, suspended in a space that seemed to extend infinitely despite its finite boundaries.

Though his current comprehension was limited, the knowledge was now stored, accessible whenever he chose to explore it, much like the knowledge spheres he had created before.

Adrian exhaled slowly, regaining complete control.

He opened his eyes, finding himself in the void above the headquarters.

Behind him, the two leaders stood frozen, having witnessed everything. The voice, the manifestation, and the absorption had erased any remaining doubt within them. To them, the voice had belonged to Adrian. They had no idea of the concept of the Source.

What they saw now only reinforced what they already believed. The being before them was something beyond comprehension: a transcended existence, a true god.
